Family & Dog Friendly House With Hot Tub OnThe Pigeon River Near Asheville, NC!

Hello and welcome to this historic, cozy, yet spacious riverside cottage near Asheville, North Carolina on the Pigeon River! This house has been a vacation destination for the past eight years, and we are thrilled to be hosting.

With 1800 square feet, three bedrooms, a new 7-seat hot tub, and enough room for eight to sleep, you can bring the whole family or make it a memorable weekend for just you and that special someone. Enjoy the crackle of a toasty fireplace while you sip a well-deserved glass of cabernet and unwind from the hustle and bustle of the busy city life. At night take a short drive to nearby Asheville to explore the vibrant food, music, art, and beer scene, or head to Waynesville and explore small-town life with its art and culture. Afterward, come back home and test your inner astronomer while stargazing on the deck.

Can't leave your furry friend at home? We have dogs, so we get it. Although a small fee applies, we welcome responsible dog owners who bring their well-behaved pups. They'll enjoy the fenced-in back yard.

Surrounded by spectacular views of the Pigeon River and stored with all the amenities of home, you'll be glad you finally took that vacation you put off for way too long.

A wonderful and relaxing trip
What a gem this property is! From the wonderful hosts to the amazing river access this was a great experience. The house was very comfortable for our family of six with room to spare. The well appointed kitchen provides all that’s needed to prepare meals. The newly added hot tub was great for relaxing after days on the river or hiking. We’re looking forward to our next visit!

Peaceful Riverfront Cottage
Our group, four adults and two 5 year-old boys, had a wonderful time at David and April's new cottage. We've had this trip booked for awhile and found out our booking was being cancelled due to the sale of the property. David, the new owner, contacted us promptly and sent us an invite to rebook our trip. The process was seamless and the trip was back on. We arrived to the property and were greeted with beautiful views of the Pigeon River and an apple orchard along with an inviting home. The house is clearly older, but it's well taken care of and has a lot of charm. The landscaping is spot on. During our stay, we did hikes around DuPont and Pisgah. The accessibility to these locations from the property was fantastic. The various waterfalls in DuPont, as recommended in the host's guidebook, were fantastic. Hiking along the Graveyard Fields and Black Balsam Knob in Pisgah offered breathtaking views. It was great to go hiking, then come back to splash and cool off in the river. There are many wonderful restaurants nearby in Canton and Waynesville. We'd strongly recommend the Southern Porch in downtown Canton for quality Southern style cuisine at very reasonable prices. After supper, we'd cap the night off by enjoying the serenity of the yard and catching fireflies with our children. There are plenty of amenities (grocery, produce stands, etc.) and activities nearby (Biltmore, GSMR, tubing, etc.). We appreciate the hospitality and look forward to future visits!

The house was perfect for our Family Vacation!!!
Our Family of seven enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home. The house was very comfortable for all of us and had everything you could possibly need for a stay. We loved waking up to the view of the river every morning. The owners David and April were very kind and helpful. They shared with us places and restaurants to visit and some welcome gifts when we got there as well. They were also kind enough to adjust our check in date to a day earlier at the last minute. We can't thank them enough for their hospitality and for sharing their beautiful home with us. We will be sure to visit again soon.

Mountain retreat
We loved our stay. Which could have been a diaster, when the property changed owners, but it was effortless. Dave was great with keeping in touch and making sure the property was on point. The pictures do not do the cottage justice. It has a rustic southern charm with modern appliances. Our family enjoyed grabbing tubes and hanging in the river. We would definitely return!!

About the host

Host profile image
Hi there. We are April and David, along with Alecia who has been taking care of this house for the past eight years. Ask her about the history if you happen to see her.

Why they chose this property

We have lived in Western North Carolina for twenty-four years (plus April grew up not far from this house in Waynesville before going off to Atlanta for a while). We love the arts and crafts in the region, the beer scene (mmm...beer), and the rivers. If this is your first visit we hope you will come to love Western North Carolina too.

What makes this property unique

What makes this property unique? The river, that's what. The Pigeon River flows right along the property, ready for fishing, tubing, or simply watching it roll by.
