About this property

Cliff View Casita- Wild, beautiful and serene small town near Sedona

About this space
This “Cliff View Casita” is the kind of place where Zane Gray would have written one of his books in the unique Southwest. We have glorious cliff views with sunsets and sunrises, which will take your breath away. It is where Vincent Van Gogh may have chosen to paint the starry night and the wheat field in seven different shades if he had lived in America. There is something "wild" about this place - such beauty and serenity here!
Please check out our new "Cliff View HACIENDA" upstairs also!
The space
This Casita has such an amazing view (I hope you think so too), overlooking mesquite trees and cliffs that stand over the Verde River valley. The views are visible from the bedroom window and through the French doors of your own living room and there's private outdoor seating on the veranda patio area, where you can enjoy cold drinks in summer or hot tea or hot chocolate in winter. Welcome nature lovers, perhaps you'll get a visit from the javelinas, a bunny rabbit, or a roadrunner!

This unit is all downstairs; we, as hosts, live upstairs. This Casita has a bedroom with a king size bed, a private bathroom, living room, a kitchenette (not a full kitchen- has a small refriger/ freezer, a rice maker, a coffee maker, microwave oven, convection oven, electric water heater, plates, bowls, utensils Etc. & Barbeque grill out on the patio. There's no sink to wash dishes except in the bathroom (dish rack and soap under sink). We are sorry that there's no sink for the dishes, but we know some guests really appreciate at least having the option to prepare simple meals with some basic cooking items. We have many who cook almost all the meals here or barbeque every night. If you don't want to wash dishes, you'd need to bring your own disposable plates & cups just like at a motel.

You may hear some noise from upstairs once in a while as we need to live and breathe. We really try to keep our noise down as much as possible. Most of our guests say it is very quiet here. But, if you think not, let's work together to make this a win-win situation! We don't mind if you call or text me, and I will also let you know if you may have music too loud or something. It is unrealistic to think that you will hear no sound at all.

Our central heating/ cooling is difficult because everyone is different, but most people have said the temperature was just right. when it is too warm down there, then it gets too hot upstairs. Yikes- it is not easy to try to please everyone.
Guest access
* Your own bedroom which you can lock for privacy
* Your own private patio with a grill, a hammock, a patio table and chairs
* Gazebo with sitting area
* Backyard with mesquite and free trees
Other things to note
Please let us know if you are bringing Children 12 yrs. old & under- they can stay free (no extra guest fee)- we welcome families. Once you book and come and stay, we will give back any extra guest fee after 2 people via Airbnb. (Please list their age when you write. Otherwise, we will assume that you don't need it) We know what it is to want to go to a beautiful place to stay without paying exorbitant fees.

We believe those who are coming with 3 other friends can easily spilt the cost.

Cleang fee: We would request that Ana, our cleaner, come and clean every 3-5 days if you're booking 1 week or more. This is so that she can have somewhat of a steady job between our 2 units. Thank you for supporting our staff.💞

Note:
* Kids stay free

* Property owner accepts 1-week maximum booking. Please inquire if you want to book more days.

* You can book 4 more people Upstairs at Cliff View Hacienda at the same time if it's not booked yet.

lovely cassita
We only stayed one night. wish we could have stayed longer. The property is lovely, clean, unique and comfortable. We walked down a dirt path to our room. I recommend anyone with difficulty walking ask for the upper level casita

Just what I needed
This is a cozy little place with a serene yet energetic view of the nearby cliffs. It is tucked away so it feels secluded. While it is not "updated", it is decorated well and has many amenities. The bed is super comfortable! It has a little "kitchen" area which is ok for reheating food or making simple dishes. As it says in the listing, there is no stove nor kitchen sink. Probably the most challenging part of the stay is washing dishes in the bathroom sink, but it is doable. The upstairs unit is also a rental (Millie and Tom live next door) and you do hear noise from the renters, so if you are looking for complete silence, this might not work for you. It didn't bother me. The price point is really unbeatable, especially on VRBO which doesn't have as high fees as it's competitors. Millie is very sweet and I wish that I had had more time to chat with her about her life. I would stay here again.

Awesome Cliff Views
This property is nicely tucked out of the way. It is cozy and well-decorated. It is a shame I didn't have more time just to hang out at the place. I will consider it my first choice when booking my next trip back to the Verde Valley.

Will and I have been married for 43 years. Yeah!! We had a beautiful simple hippie wedding under a weeping willow tree, outside at our friend's backyard in California. We met soon after Will served 6 years as a Navy SEAL in the 70's. We were both volunteering as staff with an outdoor adventure program in Los Angeles area, working with troubled youth. Taking these gang kids rock-climbing and hiking and climbing the High Sierra mountains was not always easy but so good and rewarding! When you are dirty and without any make-up or pretty clothes, tired and stressed, sometimes with the kids' bad attitudes and behaviors, all you have left is to see one's character; that is definitely a good way to find a life-time partner.

We got to travel to so many places around the world- Australia, England, Ireland, Micronesian islands, Mexico, Indonesia, Singapore, Dominica Republic, S. Korea etc. However, we find our Cliff View Home/ Casita in this green valley to be one of the most beautiful and serene places in the world. We have 3 married grown kids and 7 grandchildren.

Why they chose this property

Camp Verde sits right in the center of Arizona like a donut hole- you can drive to Sedona, Prescott, Jerome, Strawberry and Pine in about 30-45 minutes and the mountain town of Flagstaff or Payson in about an hour. The magnificent Grand Canyon is only about 2 hours north of us. The uniquely beautiful public library, farms and orchards are just down the hill where you can buy fresh corn, watermelons and other vegetables and fruit.

Montezuma Castle is only five miles away. There are hiking and mountain bike trails nearby. The red rocks of Sedona are only 27 miles away. There are ancient cliff cave dwellings just down the road less than 10 minutes from here. Plus, we have the Yavapai Apache tribal headquarters and Cliff Castle Casino 3 miles away which periodically has cultural events.

(Please check out "Guidebook- there in "Millie's Guidebook"- you will see all my favorite places for you to visit.)

What makes this property unique

It feels like it is in the middle of nowhere, and yet it is only a few short blocks to Downtown, Camp Verde, where you can visit the restaurants, coffee shops, antique stores, and museum Our Cliff View Home is near the Verde River and Clear Creek, which runs right through this green valley.

You will pass an old unkempt house and an overgrown field before you get to our Cliff View Casita, but this is holistic - life is not perfect! I can not apologize for someone else's messy place or their fields. But, once you turn into our street, a stunning view will open before you!

Our home is close to Fort Verde State Park & the historic Hance house. You can easily walk around and visit this old cowboy town that dates back to 1870.
