About this property

Lovely, peaceful & private garden home with Samish Bay water views.

Newly furnished and decorated, light-filled, 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom private garden home with high ceilings, many windows and skylights. Tour the open yards with large gardens, comfy patio and Samish Bay water views. Relax in the open family room with floor to ceiling windows and fireplace. Separate dining room from kitchen with professional gas stove/convection oven. The primary downstairs bedroom is private with spacious views toward the gardens and orchards, with a large soaking tub and separate shower. The upstairs bedroom and loft is a unique space with high beamed ceilings and beautiful private views of the natural setting below including Samish Bay and Chuckanut Mountain. Its a relaxing space for reading, writing, artwork, board games, birdwatching, storm watching & more. Enjoy the artists' nook surrounded with windows and a large drafting desk, or nap on the built-in window sofa bench seating and cozy pillows! The Samish Garden House is the perfect retreat to enjoy natures bounty nearby.

There are various towns within 20-30 minutes of the house worth visiting and site seeing. Among these include Edison (our primary little main street in Bow), Fairhaven, La Conner, Anacortes and Chuckanut Drive (a scenic byway from Edison north to Fairhaven). There are very good restaurants in each location, for example:

Edison - Tweets and Mariposa (lunch/brunch), Terramar (pizza, distillery, Old Edison Cafe (lunch/dinner). Also visit the shops, and art gallery at Smith & Vallee.

Fairhaven - Black Cat (brunch/lunch), Estelle (lunch/dinner), Ovn (pizza). Cool historic town south of Bellingham.

La Conner - Oyster & Thistle (fine dining), Nell Thorns (fine dining), COA (mexican). Another historic fishing town on the Swinomish channel.

Anacortes - A Town Bistro (fine dining), Adrift (lunch/dinner), Nona Luisa (Italian), Dad's Diner and Calico Cuboard (breakfast/lunch). Anacortes is the hub for boating in the PNW, and both a working and resort town.

Chuckanut Drive - Taylor Shellfish (must visit for oysters, and shellfish on the water), Cob & Cork, Chuckanut Restaurant, and Oyster Bar (lunch, Sunday brunch, fine dining). Chuckanut Drive is a windy, mini Big Sur-like scenic drive with great views of the islands, and lots of hiking in the Chuckanut Mts alongside the road. Watch for hikers and bikers.

If you want to visit Bellingham, a few other restaurant suggestions would be Black Sheep (mexican), Old World Deli (lunch), Carne (fine dining). Lots of other possibilities as well.

The Skagit Valley also has many local farmstands and organic produce, fruit, seafood and meats during Spring/Summer/Fall times of year. A few farms to visit would be Snowgoose Produce, south of La Conner, Shuh Farms between Mt. Vernon and Bay View, and Hedlin Farmstand near La Conner.

Host profile image
We are a family who enjoys the outdoors and the natural beauty of Samish Island, including boating, biking, hiking and skiing the surrounding areas. We are opening our Garden Home to others who appreciate having a warm, and inviting home base to explore this lovely area for its beauty, adventure and incredible restaurants.

Why they chose this property

We love Samish Island's easy access with no ferry, and proximity to nature's wonderland of saltwater tideflats on Samish and Padilla Bays, with the accompanying birdlife of blue herons, eagles, raptors, etc.. The nearby towns of Edsion, Fairhaven, La Conner, and Anacortes offer unique experiences for arts and galleries, wine, breweries/distilleries as well as some of the best food in the Pacific Northwest!

What makes this property unique

The Garden Home is a uniquely designed Cape Cod style house with steeply pitched side gable rooflines, skylights and nooks offering abundant light in living spaces, high beamed ceilings and open floor plans. The lovely and private gardens are the highlight of the property with year round interest. The interior furnishings and decor are completely new with many thoughtful amenities for guests to enjoy be they artists, birders, outdoor enthusiasts, or enthusiastic nappers.
