About this property

Private Interurban Trail Access-Chuckanut-Fairhaven-Larrabee-Bow Edison

The Chuckanut Trail Studio s a "rustic-chic" executive retreat nestled steps from Bellingham's Interurban Trail & Larrabee State Park. It is conveniently located, just off scenic Chuckanut Drive, and only a 3.5-mile drive or 20-minute bike ride to the Fairhaven Historic District. Area offers boutique shops, galleries, microbreweries, entertainment/music venues, and fabulous waterfront dining options.

This charming detached, studio cottage, with loft, features views of Chuckanut Bay, nestled among Firs & Pacific Madrona trees, with private trail access. It is perfect for a couple’s romantic getaway, or a weekend of outdoor adventures the area is famous for: trail runs, hiking Fragrance/Lost Lake, mountain biking the Ridge trail, or exploring the Salish Sea by kayak. Close by is snowboarding/skiing Mt. Baker, golf getaways, or mountain biking Galbraith. It is also a great location for families who are visiting nearby Western Washington University, attending a reunion or wedding, writers or artists seeking inspiration, Bow-Edison & Skagit valley tulips, yoga, or those just wanting to escape city life. Chuckanut Trails Studio is your ideal retreat for all seasons!

Coziness and warmth radiate from acacia hardwood floors, cedar ceilings, gas-wood stove, stone and iron accents. Tasteful, new updates throughout. Get creative with simple meals in your own gourmet galley, complete with gas cooktop, microwave, fridge, dishwasher or become a “localvore” at a number of unique eateries, farmer’s markets, or oyster farm. Same level sleeping accommodations include a queen-sized oak Murphy bed with high-quality memory foam mattress, flanked with ample storage and pantry. When the bed is retracted, a clever fold down table doubles as dining and computer workstation in an open floor plan to maximize space. The sitting area features a live-edge coffee table, two slipper chairs, pull-out couch, movable hardwood island, blue-tooth BT speaker, 42” Smart HD satellite television and high-speed internet. There is also a 75-square foot carpeted loft for relaxation, or reading. Loft also features a flat screen monitor, and quality queen futon that can double as a bonus sleeping area or work space. There is a single, heated-tiled bathroom with shower. There are two entryways, one through private single car garage (for your use) and other through a slider that leads to your own outdoor flagstone patio seating, flanked by local sourced sandstone boulders, Madrona and Douglas firs, and Chuckanut Bay views including "Dot Island"

B'ham revisited
My wife lived in B'ham before I met her and I went to grad school there so we were revisiting the area. The location was great for us and Ed was very personable and made himself available for any questions we had about the place. The place was fully stocked with whatever we needed & we were comfortable for the full extent of our stay. Plan to revisit again. Our sheltie loved the trail availability and felt comfortable monitoring the squirrels and nature around us as well. He gives it 5 paws up.

A perfect weekend escape!
This studio was clean, organized, and had everything we needed for our getaway weekend. The communication with our hosts was excellent. We lucked out with awesome weather to enjoy the endless biking and hiking trails around the area. And we enjoyed superb food at restaurants nearby. The bathroom door was a tad squeaky, but nothing a little DW40 can't fix:) Thanks Ed and Melinda!

Perfect escape
I had an amazing stay here. The hosts were very attentive & graciously left on some extra lights & provided extra instructions for my arrival as I was much later than anticipated. So close to Bellingham but really felt like an unplugged getaway in the Forrest with an amazing peek-a-boo ocean view, spectacular sunsets! I look forward to staying again!
