About this property

Lakefront Alaska Family-Friendly Retreat & Kayaks!

Whether you're looking to relax by the lake with fully remodeled, comfortable beds, baths and kitchen as well as the grill & fire pit, gorgeous views, wood burning stove, take in nature while fishing off your own dock or kayaking (4 kayaks included) and paddle boarding (2 paddle boards included), or explore nearby Alaska sights, this family-friendly retreat has everything to make the most of your Alaska adventures! This lake front retreat is 1.5 hours from Anchorage International Airport on the most popular lake - Big Lake, Alaska. During your drive you will realize that you are leaving the world behind and about to experience "real Alaska" all the while staying in a very comfortable fully remodeled modern accomodations. Along the way you will be surrounded by breathtaking scenery of Matanuska-Susitna valley and mountain ranges and likely to see wildlife such as moose and eagles, and as you approach Big Lake - cranes and fox, bunnies and grouse. As you walk in you will be immersed in 180 degrees of lake views with mountains and wildlife sightings. The main floor features fully equipped kitchen with a gas range and the latest black stainless appliances, family room with wood burning stove and a big screen TV. Also on main floor is the master bedroom with a king size bed and high quality bedding, as well as a full bathroom with a relaxing modern glass shower, mood lighting and locally sourced wood accents throughout the house. You will also love the additional space upstairs with a half bath, washer & dryer (all in one), a queen bed, a bunk bed, and fold-out bed all in a loft with another big screen TV to provide for a separate living space. Outside off the main floor there is a large deck with seating area & grill and amazing views of the lake for watching birds, boats, float planes - or bring your own boat and dock at your own dock (boat & jet ski rentals are also available at the nearby Berkshore marina). Fishing off the dock has been very productive with rainbow trout, burbot, pike and other species. In addition, this property is part of shoreline restoration program with FWS as all five species of salmon are reproducing in the lake and you can watch baby salmon activity along the lake shore in the shade of the restored vegetation. Also on property grounds you will find a fire pit, outdoor shower, playground, and a historic Alaska cabin sirca 1920. Nearby activities include the very popular Susitna Brewery across the lake and The Islander bar and grill (within a kayaking distance) both with lake views and with their own marinas. There is also a peony farm in the neighborhood holding "u-pick" events. Happy Kennels nearby (established by local celebrity Iditarod winner) provide exciting dog sledding experience. Historic Talkeetna downtown is within a short drive - where there's a Zipline experience, plus lots of restaurants and bakeries, and of course famous King Salmon derby on Talkeetna River/Clear Creek. Also within a short drive is the Matanuska Glacier - the only glacier that can be observed from roadside - hiking and climbing tours are also available. Denali National park is two hours drive North with many additional attractions. You will get the most out of your Alaska adventure by staying at our Lakefront retreat!! We are a long time Alaska family and will be there to help answer your questions along the way!

Lakeside cabin to remember
Our stay at the lakeside cabin was amazing. The house was clean, well stocked and had thoughtful touches throughout. Outside there were plenty of activities for the family: private dock for fishing and swimming, play structure and toys for the kids, fire pit, kayaks and paddle boards. We hope to get back to this cabin someday. Thank you for sharing your space and being great hosts!

Great view
Enjoyed being right on the lake and having access to kayaks. The second bedroom is loft style and just one shower so keep that in mind if that's an issue for your group. Dishwasher was full of dirty dishes and trash can was full when we arrived which was a little unsettling regarding the thoroughness of cleaning but enjoyed our stay regardless.

Absolutely wonderful cabin! The property owners clearly put a lot of thought into the place as they put it together. It was quiet, peaceful, and beautiful! The owners sent a lovely welcome message and were very communicative throughout the stay. The only thing we didn't like was the drive into town. The road from the highway to the lake is a bit rough, especily as it turns into gravel. Its still well worth the price, though! I would definitely stay again!
