Arrived at apartment and security stated we were not welcome to stay because it’s against their policy to rent out apartments. I was not able to get in contact with host and began to communicate with VRBO support who was only able to refund the difference in new reservation.
We were 15 mins away from the property and it was an hour after we were allowed to check in and the host canceled the reservation. While the reason was valid, it’s something that should have been realized prior to the reservation, and absolutely known before the check in time, not an hour after. While it was refunded we no longer had a place to stay and there wasn’t a single available property within the city within the budget. VRBO did nothing to remedy the situation so even though it was refund we lost hundreds of dollars due to a poorly managed property and horrible customer service.

Disliked: Check-in, location
Good enough for a pit stop
Overall it worked for what we needed. We were stopping half way on our trip to just get some sleep. However the unit was not what we expected. We had a difficult time getting the lockbox open. The building had a security guard that told us we couldn’t stay because it was illegal for owners to rent out their rooms. He said we had to go find a hotel. After he talked to the building owner he told us we can stay for the night since it was so late and we already paid for the room. The whole building smelled like weed. The unit was cute but didn’t have much to offer. The air fryer had all kinds of food particles in it still from previous use. I had to use it though because there were no pans to put something in the oven on. No coffee ☹️ most places at least have pods. The few plates there were wet and had food on them so we had to clean them before using. Great for a bachelor pad but not an ideal spot if you have kids and like clean dishes or the option to make something to eat. Also I asked if there was free parking and the owner said yes. The only “free” parking was street parking til 8am, then you had to pay. So we just had to get back on the road early but we were ready to get out of there anyway. Very thankful overall that the guard let us stay and we weren’t out our money and left with no where to sleep.
