Whether you sit on your private lanai or relax in your tropical recliner or the new zero-gravity recliner loveseat in the living room, you will enjoy simultaneous views of the 10,035 ' dormant volcano, Haleakala, AND the ocean, with its surfers, sailors and WHALES. The views are spectacular and the breezes are cool. You will be surrounded by windows on three sides in your spacious and airy condo.

This condo is tastefully decorated in a tropical style, with bamboo wood and floral fabrics. The Master Bedroom has its own private entry and has an attached full bath with a new chair-high toilet, a new vanity and sink and new light fixtures. The second bedroom boasts 2 mirrored closets and unobstructed sunrise views over Haleakala! The bathroom for this bedroom is located right next door in the hallway and has a new chair-high toilet, new vanity and sink with white quartz counter top and new light fixtures. Both bedrooms are furnished with top-of-the-line Simmons Beauty Rest Pillow Top CAL-KING beds, bamboo dressers, bedside tables, palm tree lamps, ceiling fans, table and tower fans and 43 " LCD Flat Screen smart TVs. There are plenty of comfy, soft sheets and towels, including bath sheets and pool towels. All mattresses and pillows are encased in zippered covers for your protection. There is a full size HE washer and dryer in the hall. Laundry soap and fabric softener is included!

The Living Room has a recliner love seat and a Queen Size Wall Bed with a Pillow Top mattress. There is plenty of seating for 6 people with an occasional chair and another (bamboo) recliner for your TV viewing or reading comfort. For that TV viewing, you will enjoy the new 55" ceiling mounted LED Flat Screen Smart TV, the BluRay DVD player and the complimentary cable. Wii hook-ups are in place and ready for you to connect your own Wii console, if you so choose. The glass and bamboo dining table easily seats six diners. Your private lanai has seating for 6 at the new lanai dining tables. Whether you sit at the antique KOA wood desk in the living room, relax on your bed or on the lanai, you will enjoy free wireless internet access. There is also a land-line telephone with free unlimited nationwide calling. The tropical breezes are enough to keep you cool, but, just in case, there are ceiling fans and tower fans in both bedrooms and in the living room as well as a new 18,000 BTU air conditioning unit in the living room. Enjoy reading from the selection of books on the hall bookcase or watch one of the DVDs in the wall cabinet. There are plenty of puzzles and even a couple of "puzzle boards" on which to build your puzzles! There is one puzzle board in back of the bamboo recliner and one in the space between the bamboo wall bed cabinet and the Koa desk.

The kitchen is a cook's dream, with a Cuisinart Blender/Food Processor, mini food processor, battery-operated can opener, Keurig Duo Plus coffee maker (pods and a stainless-steel carafe), hand mixer, toaster oven, ice cream maker, wine and cocktail utensils and all the knives and food prep items you could possibly need. There are crystal and plastic wine and beverage glasses as well as crystal champagne and martini glasses. You will find service for 8 of dishes and cutlery, plenty of food storage containers and top-quality stainless-steel cookware. I provide a "welcome to my home" coffee set-up with regular and decaf pods, a variety of flavored creamers, sugar and artificial sweeteners to get you going on your first morning in paradise! The kitchen is equipped with stainless-steel appliances: refrigerator with purified water ice maker, electric glass top stove, microwave oven and super quiet dishwasher. There is a double stainless-steel sink with garbage disposal and a separate purified water faucet. You will even view the ocean while you wash the dishes!

Both bathrooms have tubs and showers in a tropical palm tree setting. You only have to bring your own toothbrush, toothpaste and shampoo - all soap, body wash, linens and hairdryers are provided in each bathroom. Each bathroom is also equipped with a small electric fan to help cool you while you are getting ready for your day. Both toilets have bidets attached to help you stay feeling clean and refreshed.

You are sure to enjoy your beach days right across the street at Cove Beach Park or Charley Young Beach or at any of the other many beaches in the area. You will find beach chairs and a cooler in the unit for your enjoyment. If previous guests leave mats, umbrellas or any snorkeling gear, feel free to use it. I do not supply these items, nor do I supply beach toys but other guests always leave these items.

Fantastic property
This property is the perfection location for a family to use as their base as they explore Maui. Located at the top of the condo building and at the end it's incredibly private and it's location ensures that the trade winds are blowing almost always circulating the air and keeping things cool. View from the balcony is right over the nearby cove. There are numerous beaches within about a 5-20min walk south of the condo. A couple of State beaches are about 15-20min by car. Multiple stores nearby for groceries and Target/Costco etc are about 20min away by car. I had a couple of questions the second day, Norma jumped right onto a phone call and we got the items sorted out. When our travel home was impacted by the Maui fires, Norma was very accommodating and allowed us to go back to the condo and get some sleep etc. Made a huge difference in the middle of a horrible situation.

Family Vacation
The condo is in a great location, restaurants, food truck, alley shopping all within walking distance. Located from across Kalama Park / beach which is amazing for watching the sunsets. The condo building was really quiet except that darn rooster who started anywhere from 430 am to 530 am daily haha. Albeit a bit of tight quarters for 6 adults, living room area is quite small and especially when the murphy bed is pulled down, there isn’t a lot of comfy seating other than the love seat recliners (very comfy) but that’s only for 2 of you and then the kitchen table chairs, or you could sit outside which isn’t awful. The unit was comfortable, and well equipped, we did buy a toaster as the toaster oven wasn't fast enough for 6 of us eating at the same time. We left it behind. We did need to buy spices as there is only salt and pepper, not a biggie but certainly would bring some next time as it would be cheaper for us Canadians given the exchange rate and the cost if you’re trying to save some extra pennies, we did leave those behind along with a little bit of other food for the next people to arrive, or for the cleaner to take home or donate as she saw fit. It did get warm in the unit in the evenings, 2 of use slept on the murphy bed with the windows and balcony door open, there were only a couple of days where we had a nice breeze coming off the ocean. We avoided the use of the AC as much as possible as we didn't know what the extra charge would be for the utilities at the end of our stay. We did use the ceiling fan and other fan too in the living room to keep it cool for sleeping. The Bedrooms were cooler with 1 facing north and the other facing east, so no direct sunlight in the later part of the day and it was fairly cool in there, there were no complaints from the 2 couples who stayed in those rooms. The unit is wheelchair accessible aside from the bathtub, but its my understanding that, that is on the list of renovations to come but we had no problems at all navigating around the unit. The pool area is definitely not accessible as there are 3 or for stairs to the pool so I can’t comment on the pool as we didn’t use it - the BBQ area is nice with tables and a couple of gas or propane BBQs to use at your leisure. We washed about 90% of the bedding, towels and blankets, washed the floor, put the dishwasher on before we left to help out the host and the cleaner. All in all I would recommend this place but perhaps for 4 adul

Good value for large groups
Located in Island Sands, across from Kamala Park, this unit is well situated and has everything you need for a fun filled vacation. There's even an ICECREAM maker (need I say more). Walk everywhere, multiple beaches to choose from, restaurants and bars a plenty, and a fabulous view of Haleakala. Communication with the host was exceptional and her attention to detail conveys how much she loves her place and Maui. I rate location and neighbourhood a 4 only because this location is a little bit noisier than I'm used to but it is understandable as our visit was over Christmas and New Years and they sell an awful lot of fireworks on such a small island!

Fabulous views
The condo was very well equipped & Norma had provided an inventory, so we knew exactly what was there. The beds were very comfortable, & the living room has two wonderful recliners which we seniors loved. Right next door to a great market. We would definitely come here again!

About the host

Hosted by Norma Russell

Host profile image
I am a retired registered nurse and travel agent and have traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe and the Orient. I have stayed in many elegant hotels, condos and cruise ships. I have been a visitor to Maui since 1984. Maui is where my heart is and I consider it my second home. I have decorated and furnished my condo as I have furnished my primary residence because I want to be surrounded by tropical elegance and comfort. I hope you will feel the same as you share my home.

Why they chose this property

First and foremost, this condo is my second home! I love the ambiance in South Kihei and the Island Surf Building is the 'Golden Ring' of the area! I looked at many properties in the South Kihei area and ALWAYS went back to this building. I knew what I wanted, I waited and I finally was able to purchase the PRIME condo in this wonderful building - the penthouse floor, end unit condo with windows on three sides and unsurpassed views!
The building has a private pool and barbeques with dining area. There is plenty of off street free parking and even a place to hose off or completely wash your car. The building also has 2 elevators, or, if you are energetic, you can climb the stairs!

What makes this property unique

I love drinking my tea or coffee in the morning out on the lanai and watching the sun rise over Haleakala. I love sitting and watching the WHALES frolicking in the beautiful surf during the daytime. I love sipping a cocktail and watching the sun set over the ocean in the early evening. I love sitting in the darkness and looking up at the starlit sky while listening to the ocean's gentle roar as the waves lap against the shore! I love my condo and my location 24/7 and 365 days a year!
Shopping is easy and convenient, just a short walk away. Shave Ice is right out the front door and to the right about 50 steps! There is a hairdresser, nail salon and massage therapist on the first floor of my building. Charley Young beach is across the street, within walking distance. You can rent diving gear or snorkeling equipment from the shops on the first floor. There are also two surf schools where you can take lessons or just rent boards, one on the first floor and one right across the street. There is also a convenience store/deli and a restaurant on the first floor.
In Kalama Park, directly across the street, you will find tennis courts, a skate park, volleyball nets, barbeques, picnic tables, a ball field and many other things to do. It is a very easy walk to the grocery store (Foodland) or to a number of fine restaurants, coffee shops, bars and shopping.
