Quick Getaway
The cabin is cozy, comfortable, and clean. The screened porch was lovely for sitting with a glass of wine listening to the rain or enjoying breakfast.

Perfect mountain getaway
This was our second stay at Redbud Haven in Lost River, and we were reassured as to why we selected it again. The cabin provides a spacious yet cozy atmosphere to relax and recharge, and the yard was perfect for our dog. We also enjoyed hiking at Lost River State Park which was beautiful!

Nice, but with neighbors
The redbud is a cute, comfy cabin with nice, accommodating hosts! Our biggest issue was it's proximity to other cabins. We like seclusion and with at least 3 other homes and the road close by, this property just didn't have the privacy we were looking for. The cabin is clean, we gave 4 stars for cleanliness just because of the lack of a dishwasher and washer/dryer. If you don't mind neighbors then we would reccomend this place. And if you stay here you absolutley have to go eat at The Lost River Grill! Amazing food, gigantic portions, insanely good prices and the friendliest service ever!

Quiet, relaxing and fun
If you’re looking to get away this is the place to be. While being dog friendly helped a lot, this location is central to all sorts of activities: Horseback riding, hiking, cavern exploration, and even fossil collecting. The cabin is supplied with an above adequate level of basic supplies; don’t have something, chances are the cabin does or the stores nearby will. Looking forward to book again!

The Colors of Heaven
Tried to time our stay for the peak of Autumn colors and it was perfect. Spent 10 of the most weather perfect days in this Highlands Hideaway and enjoyed every minute of it. From a nearby train ride through mountains and valleys, the simple dining in the local eateries, trout fishing at Trout Pond,. Lee Cabin in Lost River State park, to the relaxing days soaking in the beauty of nature from our cabin's deck, we had what us old folks would say was a grand ol' exciting time. Location was perfect for us and the cabin was exactly as advertised. Well worth it and contemplating another stay next year.

We really enjoyed the mountain air. We hiked in the Lost River State Park to the Cranny Crow Overlook and in the Trout Pond Recreation Area around Rockcliff Lake. We took our dog on her first vacation. I would definitely stay there again.

Pre-Fiftieth Birthday Trip
We had a great time during our stay celebrating an Almost Fifty Pre-Birthday trip. The Cabin had all the essential necessities. The location is private, had a nightly bonfire. We had rain 2 out of 4 days which we just enjoyed the cabin and all it had to offer. As stated in the description there is no cell service, however, the Intranet service was great. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us!

We had a wonderful trip to this cabin. The cabin itself is super nice and cute with an amazing open area behind it. We reached out to the owners about 1 minor issue and they went above and beyond to ensure our stay was still amazing!! Highly recommend to anyone.

Quiet Get Away
Red Bud Haven was just that. It was peaceful and quiet. The house was a very comfortable size and the deck was wonderful. Part of it was screened in and I used that quite a bit and the main deck stretched across the whole back of the house which was wonderful. I grilled out 2 nights and the grill worked great. I has the choice of propane or charcoal. The kitchen was well outfitted with pots, pans, dishes etc. It is actually one of the best kitted out kitchens I’ve seen. Thanks so much ch for a wonderful stay.

Quiet Lovely Seclusion
Could not have been more pleased with this cabin in the woods. It was clean with everything you needed. We spent a lot of time on the deck and screened porch, relishing the perfect weather. It felt so secluded even though there were other homes in community. You could not really see them. The views of the mountains and the woods were lovely from every room., especially the loft sleeping area. As far as things to do, our favorite was going to Lost River State park to hike and swim. They have a large pool with lounge chairs for relaxing with more views. The George Washington National Forest is really close and offers trails and ponds. Walks on the unpaved road were also a great option for my dogs. I really appreciated that they were dog friendly! The pampered house dogs had an equally if not better time. Just made sure to clean up after them inside and out so they would be welcome again. The hosts were very responsive and kind. They communicated by phone and email when we had a question. Feels good to rent from them. I definitely plan to return.

Great stay!
My dog, Betty, and I just spent a great week at the cabin! The cabin was great, very clean, had all of the essentials and the screened in porch was so nice to relax on. It has beautiful views of the forest and mountains and is on a great long country road perfect for dog walks. We will definitely be back!

Bright and cozy stay
Overall the property is well equipped and is very comfortable. Note the closest laundromat is 25 minutes away so I will plan for that next time. Strong internet but we couldn’t figure out the smart TV… we brought a few DVDs for movie night anyway. Private. Outdoor fire pit was great. Woke up to the neighbor’s roosters in the morning and that was nice. The giant windows bring in lots of natural light. 10 minutes from the trout pond rec area and 20 to Lost River State Park.

Peace and quiet in the WV Mountains
Beautiful property just as described! Super clean and had everything needed to set up a wonderful stay .Owners were responsive to questions. Needs just a little TLC is some areas but we would definitely stay here again. Two items I would want to point out. #1 The screened in porch is great for evening dinner. I would have the cleaning crew vacuum the outdoor carpet however and take a broom to knock down the huge spider webs. I realize we are out in the woods, but these were up there a lot longer than a week. #2 We lost power at 3:30 am the last night there. At 7:30 am I left messages on all numbers for the property manager..office. and cell. Thus we were gone by 9:30 am that morning and we never got a call from the property manager to acknowledge the problem. I know they could not fix the problem but a call back to acknowledge and maybe tell us when power would be expected to return, I think, would have been warranted. Thus the 3 star rating. Instead I had to flag down utility workers who were driving by to find out the issue. Other than those minor things, were enjoyed the fire pit 3 evenings ....the peace and beauty of the woods. Bird watching was great got some beautiful photos of the scarlet tanagers that are nesting in the area. NO CELL PHONE COVERAGE so be aware of that! Great internet at the cabin however.and bring some DVD'S wiith you! Overall we loved the cabin ...thank you so much to Paula and Deb for opening their beautiful cabin for us to enjoy!!!!

Peace, serenity and wildlife galore
My husband and I stayed here with our two dogs over a long 4th of July weekend. It was fantastic. The space was great. It was clean, well stocked with the necessities (blankets, towels, kitchen items, games etc.) You can either grill on the gas grill or the charcoal. We chose gas and had a nice cookout on the deck looking out at the mountains. We also enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch at night watching the lightening bugs in the woods. The dogs sniffers were working over time. We left the area to do a few hikes, our favorite being Cranny Crow Overlook. Get up there early, take some food and binoculars, have a picnic and watch for the hawks! We also had some lovely morning and evening walks in our little neighborhood. Up the road one way we saw lots of deer, a few goats and some rabbits. Walking the other way, toward the Guest House Lodge, we visited a miniature mule named Sancho. I highly recommend this cabin. I also want to note that we left a little pink rubber bear dog toy next to the dog bowls in the bathroom in hopes that someone else's pups will enjoy it. It is supposedly a tough toy and he is only missing a foot. Our dogs have enough toys at home.

Fantastic getaway spot!
We had a wonderful time staying in this cabin! Our party consisted of two adults, one teenager, and two 6-month old Lab puppies. The house is the perfect size for a small group and has lots of room for relaxing indoors and outside. It’s a great home base for exploring Trout Pond Recreation Area and Lost River State Park.

A Nice Quiet Getaway Spot
The drive in might be a little creepy, especially at night: no cell signal, dirt road, little to no lighting from elsewhere. But it's worth it to have a little A-frame cabin all to yourself. We enjoyed our time there very much and look forward to going back.

This is our favorite Lost River rental
We spent an idyllic Thanksgiving week at this cabin/cottage, loving the quiet, winter woods, wood stove, and sunshine. It is so comfortable and cozy. A perfect get-away. Deb and Paula, the hosts, are responsive and warm. The neighbors are friendly. The walk up the lane every day (to say hello to Sancho the fat, white pony at the Guest House) was brisk in the fall weather, but a lovely dinner and a glass of wine under the skylight warmed us right up after. By far, our favorite place to relax in the Lost River area. This was our second trip to this cabin and we WILL be back!

We purchased what was then called ‘Llangollen' in 1991. We have been fortunate to own this lovely cabin where the air is fresh, rush hour is only created as we hurry back from the pond so not to miss out on our nightly ritual of sitting on the expansive deck while sipping wine as we gaze out toward the mountain to watch the sunset.
We want to share this alluring peaceful get away with people who appreciate mother nature and crystal clear starry or moonlit skies.
You'll have both the rural mountain feel and all of the conveniences of home. Perfect for a romantic adult getaway or for kids who will love to romp in our back yard.
Over the past 25 plus years, our cabin has been modernized with new floors, windows and doors, new electric oven, frost free refrigerator, new HVAC system for all season heat and air conditioning and efficient ceiling fans which are all topped off with the child safe mountain facing deck.

Why they chose this property

Almost heaven Red Bud Haven is located in the pollution free mountains of West Virginia. Only two hours drive from Washington D.C., (3 hours Baltimore, 3 1/2 hours Richmond, 5 hours Philadelphia) this newly renovated cabin is tucked away in the woods and offers you the pristine beauty of the Shenandoah Mountains. Nearby is the George Washington National Forest and Lost River State Park, there is a wide range of recreational activities: swimming, horseback riding, hiking, antiquing, fishing, canoeing, archery, as well as fine dining or simple, country eating. During the winter months, skiing is convenient. There is a local museum that has
World War II artifacts. You can even take a yoga class at the local yoga center. Lots to choose from or just relax and enjoy the beautiful unobstructed mountain view seen through the large a-frame window.

Washington magazine writes, “Tucked between two mountain ridges, the valley, a couple of hours from Washington, is drawing more weekenders. The lure is rugged woodland scenery, tumbling mountain streams and outdoor fun - hiking, fishing, biking, canoeing, swimming, rafting, climbing, horseback riding.' You'll have your choice of the Lost River State Park, where the Hidden Trails Stables is located for horseback riding, archery, outdoor pool, tennis and a restaurant. Also nearby is the Trout Pond Recreation Area at the George Washington National Forest, with fishing, a gentle lake with a beach for swimming, lovely light walking or more serious hiking.

What makes this property unique

Local Restaurants and Shops: While we are a getaway, there are still local businesses to visit during your time in Lost River. The Guest House at Lost River has fine dining with a 40 seat restaurant and bar operating on weekends throughout the year. Lost River General Store offers crafts, lunch and ice cream for tourists on the shopping prowl. Lost River Grill serves breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the year, as well as an evening bar with Karaoke on weekends. South End Grocery will offer any of your other household needs. For yoga enthusiasts, there is a yoga center just a 5 minute drive away.
