You can walk past the herb garden and fountain on your way to the 2nd streets restaurants and shops (0.1 miles) and along the canal front to enjoy all the fishing boats. There is much more to Lewes then just it's beautiful beaches. It’s less than a mile walk to Lewes beach. About my home:

'Nanny's Beach House', so named by our two eldest grandsons, is a renovated Arts and Craft 'cottage' built in 1929. The original wood floors, doors, stairs and oak trim throughout the house were preserved.

There is Cable TV in the living room and a TV in the Master bedroom. The Livingroom has a DVD player, high speed WIFI, CD player to use indoors and Bose outdoor speakers for music on the screened in back porch. There is two zoned air conditioning and ceiling fans for your comfort. All the appliances are modern. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. There is a Weber gas grill outside the screened in porch. All in a fenced in back yard.

On the first floor:

The front porch has 4 wicker rockers, footstools and tables for your enjoyment. Enter the front room to a nicely furnished room with a sofa, recliner, tables, plantation shutters and ceiling fans. Proceed to the living room furnished with two sofas, cocktail table, wood burning fireplace and TV. Further on, you are in the dining area with a table that seats 8. In the drawers and cabinets there are place mats, tablecloths, extra dining and entertaining plates for your use. Leaving that room and turning left, on the right is a bathroom with tub and shower, sink and commode. One of four bedrooms is also on the first floor. It has 2 twin beds walk in closet and window seat. You will see the stairs to the basement and back door leading to the driveway and the outdoor shower and a teak bench. The kitchen has granite counter tops, tile floor, all modern appliances, glasses and dinnerware and small appliances. The French doors at the end of the kitchen lead to the screened in porch. Here there is table, a chaise lounge with cushions and two remote controlled ceiling fans. The adjacent deck has a 2 lounge chairs and with a large cantilever umbrella for shade.

SECOND FLOOR:

The master bedroom to the left at the top of the stairs has a queen size bed, night tables, full length mirror, flat screen TV, walk in closet and adjoining bathroom with shower, sink and commode. The Middle bedroom has twin beds, dresser and arrangement for hanging clothes (Closet being used as owner’s closet).

Across the hall there here is a full bathroom with tub/shower, sink and commode. The front bedroom is the largest and has a queen bed, dresser, étagère, desk, night tables, and a pull out daybed that sleeps two. There is a large walk in closet. Each of the bedrooms has a ceiling fan.

The house is decorated with some paintings from local artists and some that were painted by friends. The birds on the fireplace mantle are all hand painted by an Artist in Bryn Mawr PA. The real coral fans are from St. Barts and Coral from St. Martin. The big Green fish was schlepped here from Key West.

LOWER LEVEL:
Washer and Dryer, Renters storage.

SIDE YARD- Outdoor shower, Teak bench near shower, Shed.

Just as great the second time around!
See our review from August, 2022. From the location to floorplan, Nanny's Beach House is perfection! Can't wait to return.

Lewes Gem
Thoroughly enjoyed our week in Lewes! The home is well-appointed and in a fabulous location. Plenty of room for an extended family of 7. We could walk and bike almost anywhere we wanted to go. There is the expected street noise but nothing that interfered with our fantastic stay. Would gladly return!

Remarkable Lewes Vacation Home
This is a well kept, thoughtfully restored 1920's home meant for a good sized family - multiple living areas inside and out, roomy modern kitchen, four larger than average bedrooms, three well appointed baths. The property is exceptionally sized for the historic district with multiple shade trees and a long driveway. A central location allows for easy walks to downtown shopping, twice weekly farmers markets, library, parks, and bike trail. Positive surprises: a truly gigantic screened porch set in a fenced, nicely landscaped backyard and a spacious, lower level laundry room. Negative surprises: NONE! Nanny's Beach House more than met our expectations. We can't wait to return.

Fantastic House
The house is perfect for a multi-family vacation. Our stay included two grandparents, two couples, and three kids, ages 2 to 6. The house is close to town and close to the beach. We had a great stay.

About the host

For many years my daughter as been coming to Lewes. She would try to talk my husband, Tom, into coming down but he would always say, "what do I want to go to Lewes, De. for?" He finally relented (there were two women nagging him now) and down we came! We were here for about 45 minutes and after having a crab cake at Gilligan"s, he said, " let's buy a house, I'm buying a boat and going fishing, you can shop!" I was close to retirement from The Vanguard Group and Tom was retired from the Bryn Mawr Fire Company due to illness, so we sold our home in Malvern, Pa.. We saw this home and loved it. Of course, we went shopping imagine that! My daughter Leeanne, went one way and I went the other. Mission completed!
Unfortunately, Tom passed away and after a few years I decided to rent it out. I love my home, yellow sofas and all. I wish you all the enjoyment I've had in this home, after all, IT'S YOUR VACATION!
Enjoy,
Lee aka Nanny

Why they chose this property

Our home has a wonderful 'feel' about it. We chose this house because we can walk anywhere, the overall feeling of relaxation whether we're sitting on the front porch with family or just enjoying some steamed clams and a salad on the screened in porch while listening to some nice music.
More of our favorites are having that first cup of coffee on the screened in porch, listening to the birds sing, watching the news or reading a paper. I could go on and on....

What makes this property unique

The house has plenty of room and is so comfortable. The nearness to downtown and Lewes Beach is always a plus. We enjoy sitting on the front porch swing and watching the world go by. The close proximity to Lewes also allows us to walk to Second Street after dinner, window shop and get an ice cream cone from King's, then walk it off by taking a longer route home.
