Beaches, courts, and clubhouse are restricted with use of masks and social distancing until further notice. Wi-fi is accessible at the clubhouse porch or picnic tables. Sorry for this inconvenience.

Our lakefront and dock are open to our guests for all swimming boating and fishing activities, and dog swimming.

You’ll love our place because of the lakefront location and quaint cottage privacy. It's part of a waterfront recreational community, with secure access to swimming, boating, biking, tennis, hiking. New stove, water heater and furnace, outdoor shower and renovated bathroom. Berkshire culture, antiques, museums and local orchards and farms make this a relaxing and enriching holiday option. Within 40 minutes of 6 Flags New England.

Located in the Berkshire Mountains of southwestern Massachusetts, this cottage is part of a private association called Wildwood, surrounding two lakes called Cranberry Pond and Otter Pond. Our cottage is a modified A-frame hand made by a father and sons, who were founding members at Wildwood, and has lakefront access to the main lake (Cranberry Pond) down a short flat path to the water and private dock.
The cottage comfortably sleeps 5 people with 1 double-size bed bedroom, 2 twin-bed bedroom and a single bed bedroom as well as a trundle bed that can open up in the living room and a day bed in the upstairs balcony if you want more people in your party. There is a kitchen, dining area/living room and half bath downstairs, and 3 bedrooms and full bathroom with shower upstairs. A back utility/boat room has another small bed, across from the downstairs bathroom.

The cottage features a lovely screened in porch that overlooks Cranberry Pond. Great for enjoying outside dining, bird-watching, and entertaining. We have sighted scarlet tanager, great blue heron, kingfisher and many other woodland birds. No outside watercraft of any sort are allowed in the lakes. The Association works very hard in keeping the lakes weed free and by limiting the boats brought in they have kept the lakes in fantastic shape. The cottage rental includes use of a row boat, 3 kayaks and a canoe (specific information will be provided for the use of each watercraft). I also left a guitar for guests, feel free to play away!

Guest access

There is free WiFi access for guests at the Clubhouse 24/7.
We do not have Wifi or a TV/cable at the cottage. AT&T and Verizon service is strong, T-Mobile is not.

Interaction with guests

The Wildwood office hours are posted, and there are maintenance staff on duty every day from 8-5.
Other things to note
When driving into the driveway please be aware of the well head on the right side by the road as you enter. Dogs are not allowed on beaches, and must be leashed. We have a running overhead line to hook your dog up roadside.
"Please note"...The Wildwood Association does not allow any outside boats to be brought in to the complex for use in the two lakes. and no outside watercraft of any sort are allowed in the lakes. The Association works very hard in keeping the lakes weed free and by limiting the boats brought in they have kept the lakes in fantastic shape. No automatic dishwashers or private laundry facilities are permitted in the Wildwood homes, to protect the PH of the lake.
The cottage does not have Central Air-conditioning at this time. The woodstove is what we use to warm up a cool night, and new furnace may be used.
Key to tennis courts, and electric key fob for laundry hanging on key rack in kitchen.

Restful, lovely place
This is our fourth time staying in this magical house. Very rustic, out of the way. The house is 30 steps from large, tranquil lake with herons. I swam an hour + every day. Outdoor shower supplements the indoor one for a sensual treat. Highly pleasant screened porch looking out into woods with lake beyond. We bring our own mobile hot spot since there's no internet onsite.

Paradise
It's a charming, funky house, with a view of the lake from one upstairs bedroom and treetops from the other. The screened porch is heaven to sit on. The lake is 20 steps away. The neighboring houses aren't far, but totally screened off by foliage. We are tucked away there. The lake is indescribably wonderful and accommodated my 2-hour swims quite nicely, thank you very much. Thanks to the ducks, hummingbirds, and heron too! We brought our 3 cats, and they also were in heaven, roaming freely (but coming in at night). The road is not heavily used so pretty safe for them. Barbara is an excellent host. Very hard to leave!

Wonderful summer stay
We stayed for much of the summer it couldn't have gone better. There was plenty for the kids to do - from the daily swimming, boating and fishing, to the games, puzzles and toys on the occasional rainy day. The beaches all lovely and easy to get to, without ever being crowded. They have amenities nearby. Overall, it was really a memorable time, and I couldn't recommend it more.

We (my mother and I) are both located in the Hudson Valley of New York. I am a musician/engineer, as well as carpenter/handyman, and my mother is a elementary school teacher in New York City.
We live a distance away, so if there are any serious issues, Wildwood staff can be of great help and are close by, the maintenance staff is on duty every day from 8-5, office hours are posted at the front of the main clubhouse.

Why they chose this property

The house has been passed down from my grandparents, who kept it as a wonderful rendezvous place for family, extended and otherwise to enjoy in hot summers since they bought the house in 1970.
Although our lakefront and dock is wonderful for swimming, the cottage is a two minute walk from the Main beach area (one of four). The Main beach has a men's and a women's restroom facility and shower at the community Clubhouse.

The outdoor tennis courts, a shuffle board area, croquet , a swing set area/picnic ground, baseball/soccer field and 2 basketball hoops are all located near the Clubhouse, which houses a library and relaxing tables and sofas as well as the Wildwood Office.
The laundry is also located there, (electric key access) where cards for the laundry can be purchased. The machine only takes $5 and $10 cash. Croquet and Shuffleboard equipment and balls are kept in the laundry.
There are some very beautiful walking trails and smaller more private beaches around the lake that are worth exploring. The cottage is a great place to disconnect from the busy world and reconnect with yourself, as well as your loved ones!

What makes this property unique

Cranberry Pond is great for fishing (Bass, crappies, bluegills, sunfish, pickerel, and bullheads are plentiful). Remember your fishing gear & bait! Live worms reap the best fishing experience. Catch and release is mainly practiced.

Otter pond is located about a 15-20 minute walk from our cottage. This pond has a small intimate beach and also has a men's and women's bath house. Kids love to go looking for frogs and newts, and built elaborate sandcastles there. Floating docks are also features of both lakes and beaches. Please remember your guest pass when driving to the beaches and use the designated parking areas.
