About this property

2 minute walk to York's Long Sands Beach!

2 bedroom house just a 2 minute walk to Long Sands beach in York Maine. (literally a 2 minute walk over the foot bridge to long Sands Beach. One of the most popular and nicest beaches in Maine, Long Sands is very popular for good reason. A beach cart is available for your beach essentials.

Located in a quiet secluded neighborhood, just steps to the beach .Walk over a footbridge (no need to worry about feeding the parking meters or trying to find a parking space! ) and enjoy the surf and sand at one of Maine’s best known beaches at your own pace. A very popular spot with surfers, sun-worshippers, and swimmers, the beach offers miles of shoreline to walk and explore. Several good restaurants line its shore and Long Sands is a great spot to spend the day enjoying soaking up the sun and forgetting about life’s responsibilities. A meal at nearby Lobster Cove is a great way to end the day.

After enjoying the beach, wander back to the cottage and cool off with the outdoor shower and lounge on the outdoor deck. What we like about this place its right in the center of the best York Maine has to offer; York Harbor and Short Sands Beach. York Harbor has several outstanding restaurants, most notably York Harbor Inn and a great “Fishermans Walk” that parallels the York River all the way up to the Wiggly Bridge-a must do! Not to be outdone is the York Cliff Walk that takes you to Mothers Beach. Or do both the Cliff Walk and the Fishermans Walk-they do connect by Stage Neck Inn (another great place to grab a bite). Or visit Short Sands Beach, an old resort community with many turn of the century grand hotels that is a great family beach with a playground and nearby Yorks Wild Animal Kingdom. There is a trolley that is the easiest way to get to Short Sands Beach

This home is a great central location with lots to do.

Trip 1
Portsmouth New Hampshire. A short drive away, lots of great restaurants and a good place to walk around and enjoy the sites. Strawberry Banke is a good tour of old Portsmouth.
Portsmouth also offers guided fished tours, trips to the Isle of Shoals, and various tours.

Suggested Restaurants
Row 34-Happy Hour Oyster Bar!

River House-York Route 1. Awesome Water Views

Trip 2 (Rain Date)
Kittery Outlets. Shop till you drop. Don’t worry men, Kittery Trading Post is right next store.

Suggested Restaurants
Bobs Clam Hut. I personally think one of the best clam shacks in Maine! Fried scallops are amazing!

Roberts Maine Grill. Very good oysters!

Trip 3 (Beach for the Sunburned)
Spend a bit too much time in the sun? Need some shade? Come to Fort Foster Kittery. Trees, grass, and walking paths. Grills and restrooms are available. $10 per carload. Truly one of Maines hidden beaches. Who knew? Fort McClary is also nearby and is worth the trip.

Restaurant Fare
Warrens-A throwback to the restaurants your parents used to take you to. A pretty serous salad bar and good food. You wont leave here hungry.

Trip 4 (York-the Quintessential Beach Town)

York Harbor. Do the Fishersmans Walk. Park on RTE 103 near the bridge to avoid parking meters. If you feel brave enough you can jump off the bridge at high tide!

York also has several historic homes that can be visited.

And a cliff walk.

Restaurant Fare
Ship Cellars Pub at York Harbor Inn. Good food and good atmosphere. We prefer the lounge in the basement. (York Inn is supposed to be haunted as well-you can see why!)

Trip 5 (River Meets the Sea)

Oguinquit Beach. Nice long beach right near the center of town. It has a nice river that you can tube down (watch the tides). Has a wavy ocean side with pounding surf and a calmer river side. Parking is $30 per car and spaces fill up early. Ogunquit has an alternative lifestyle vibe.

The Marginal Way cliff walk is a great way to spend some time

Ogunquit Playhouse is very popular. Reservations suggested.

Levitt Movie Theater. Shows a lot of eclectic movies and past favorites. Full service bar!

Trip 6 (Portland, Yes this is Maine)

Lots to do, it would be pages. Google it! Here is a brief snippet of our favorite things.

Bailey Island Cruise. Good way to see coastal Maine. Portland has about 100 islands and is truly a working waterfront with several of the larger islands having hundreds of residents. Suggest reservations.

Portland Head Light. The iconic lighthouse of Maine. I have included the Maine Lighthouse Trail link below under “Other Destinations”

Visit Portland and Eat Your Way Thru the Old Port with a Foodie Tour

Restaurants

J’s Oyster Bar. Hole in the wall on the water. Great vibe and seafood.

The Great Lost Bear-Good pub food and even better selection of beer.

Dock Side Eating on a boat

Trip 7- A Route One Journey

Route One is the Coastal Route of Maine. Its not called the tourist highway for nothing. Lots to see and do along its route. Can be crowded but also full of surprises. If headed through Scarboro, the Mecca of Seafood is there; Kens of Scarboro! Few can compare to it. Worth the trip. Head north and enjoy the sites!

After traveling to the far corners of the globe and across the great country, we eventually landed in Maine. Its a great place to live and it is truly the way life should be. We love the outdoors, the ocean, the mountains, the forests, fishing, and good food..Maine has it all. So we decided put down roots here and enjoy all those things we enjoy in one spot.

About us, laid back and just looking to enjoy the finer things in life. We are pretty boring actually and really just enjoy the simple things-like a walk on the beach at sunset or even snooping around a thrift shop or two.

We are pleased to welcome you to our home to enjoy the beautiful state of Maine. There is lots to do but its also a great place to relax and unwind. Maine is truly the way life should be. Hopefully you will see why.

Why they chose this property

Well I guess if you clicked on this ad, you are looking to go to the beach. Well Long Sands is a great beach and this house is only a 3 minute walk to it-do worry there is a beach wagon to use and the walk is on a very quiet street.

The beauty of this place is you don't have to deal with the hassle of trying to find a parking space. Maine is popular and Long Sands is no exception. Once you find a parking space, well then you have to keep feeding the meter. This place, just stroll on over and you are there. No hassle, no stress, no worrying about giving up your parking space.

What makes this property unique
