Great place!
I came out to Durango for work and this was the perfect home base. The host Melissa was very communicative and responsive. The neighborhood is quiet and private. The house was super clean and the bed incredibly comfortable. Would definitely stay again and have recommended to other colleagues.

Beautiful Durango retreat
Galaxyland is a truly lovely spot! The charming home is immaculate and the host, Melissa provided quick responses and help with any questions. The location is close to all things Durango and it’s easy to head north and explore beautiful Vallecito Lake. We loved our stay and are looking forward to returning soon!!

Perfect little guest house
I stayed for a long weekend and the place was perfect. Good location close to downtown. Quiet, private, clean, comfy furniture, and really nice linens. The location has a residential feel to it which is exactly what I was hoping for. Would definitely stay here again.

Pictures don't do it justice!
Seriously, the online pictures do not do this guest house justice. It is surrounded by trees and very private. We sat outside every morning with our coffee and every evening with a glass of wine. The views are fantastic and occasionally we would have a family of deer walk right by us. Yes, there's a coffee shop and pizza place close enough to walk to. But the location to the Animas River Trail and downtown area is very close as well. We rode our bikes to both. We stayed in the middle of August in case anyone is wondering what it is like during the warm months. We slept with the windows open and it was heaven. The temperature didn't warm up until late morning and by then we were off to wherever our 'adventure of the day' took us. The temperature dropped again in the evening in time for our return. The guest house has everything you need and a kitchen large enough and comfortable enough to make every meal. We love this place and are already planning our return trip next year!

Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, I straddle the fence between loving fast-paced cosmopolitanism city life and enjoying nature and feeling less anonymous in a small mountain town. So, I live in Durango full time and travel as much as I can. I love art, music, theater and fresh clean mountain air.

Why they chose this property

This was built in 2018 as a guest house, so it has all the amenities that a traveler would want for a long or short stay. Located on a private drive about 2 miles from downtown Durango, the neighborhood is quiet and private. The street is hilly and a stroll around the block will get your heart pumping. It’s a quick 5 minute drive to the heart of downtown Durango but there’s plenty to do within a short walk from the front door. A pizza, burger & bbq joint at the end of the street - a yoga studio, delicious bakery and popular sushi restaurant are about a 5 minute walk. See my list of recommendations for more info. Dozens of trailheads to amazing hikes are within a 5-10 minute drive. Durango is very bike friendly and there’s a trolley stop at the end of the street. This property is awesome!
