This villa really is in the most beautiful of locations looking out towards the stunning shoreline and sea. It's very well equipped....especially in the kitchen where every utensil, pan, gadget etc seems to have been provided! We were met by the owner who, after making sure we had all the local knowledge we needed and more, left us for the week with a much appreciated 'welcome' pack in the fridge!
The large pool was great for 5 adult sized people and the pool man arrived and left without us seeing him, although we could tell he had been...all nice and clean! It has steep steps down to it but does have gates at the top and off the bedroom terrace for the safety of small children. The garden continues for a further two levels below the pool...again stepped. A lot of the garden is gently shaded throughout the day by the mature trees...whilst enough stays sun soaked!
Tamariu is very picturesque and loads of activities available. Kayaks, canoes, motorboats, diving, snorkelling, coastal walks, etc. as well as cordoned off areas for swimming complete with lifeguard.
The whole area is stunning with many places to visit and all the beaches we saw were brilliant. Went to Barcelona for the day...easy drive to train station...fabulous city. ?24 return for a journey of about 11/2 hours in spotlessly clean train. Not a lot of shopping in Tamariu but lots of good eating places, tapas bar and wonderful ice cream shop/restaurant that also does great pizza. It's about a 20min walk (mostly downhill) from the villa although a longer (mostly uphill) one on the way back. Take the car and park either for free along the road sides or for ?2.55 for the whole day in the 'wooded' car park.
Area is heavily Catalan with the language spoken widely, however, many people we met had enough English to understand us and of course they also spoke Spanish.
Beautiful area, extremely comfortable villa, great holiday...we will be back!
Ps if you hire a car, make sure it can cope with the steep hills, coastal roads, you and your luggage....!
