About this property

Dramatic Mission-Style Home - Minutes to Downtown

This home has just undergone a complete overhaul. All new furnishings, paint, BA shower, etc.

We've gotten some false/untrue reviews the last couple, but those were also PRIOR to the renovation. We're rated 5.0 on Heir-Be-N-Bea, I invite anyone to check out those reviews. We've been hosts for 7+ years, Superhosts, we know what we're doing.

A beautiful 4BR Mission-style home that features original oak woodwork, a boxed-ceiling dining room with buffet, all new windows, refinished maple floors, an updated kitchen with stainless appliances, professional gas range, dishwasher and disposal, and a large fenced backyard with rear deck. Great for travelers looking to stay minutes from the city yet close to highways and other transportation.

This house is in the McKinley Neighborhood of Minneapolis. Located 2 miles from the edge of Downtown Minneapolis (the North Loop area) and just across the bridge from North East (NE). This home is close to everything, yet easy access to highways like 94, 694, 394, 55 and 35W.

Professionally decorated and furnished, this is a home with character and charm, not just a place to sleep. Comfy and elegant, this home is fully equipped with everything you need to live and function. Featuring a 65" 4k HDTV, and high-speed wireless internet great for steaming or doing business.

This has been a full-time Short Term Rental for the last 7 years. It's all we do. Previously listed on other websites, we're finally offering it on VRBO! We've hosted hundreds of guests and many events such as weddings, reunions, birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties, etc.

Some things to note-
The basement is not accessible to guests while it undergoes renovation.
The side yard is not pictured as it's not an amenity.
The garage is not available.

Disappointing
The property is rundown compared to listing photos. The prior guests were difficult which trickled down to us. Owner had to come for 3 days to cleanup the outside. We were having my Moms funeral so this was all stressfull. We had to take the old cushions for the outdoor furniture out off the garage and cover with blankets for our Celebration of Life gathering. There were still 5 bins of stinky garbage in the back. Blake tried but getting the property together was tough. I think compensation was in order. The kitchen was poorly appointed and cupboards dirty.

Good location, but needs a deep cleaning
Mouse droppings in kitchen drawers. Lots. In almost every drawer. Some new. Some old. (See earlier reviews.) We contacted the owners first night about bed sheets having crumbs/debris/hair/crusty unknown spots. Cool old house that simply needs a deep cleaning.

Nice Holiday Rental
Our family of 6 gathered here for our Christmas get-together. There was plenty of room for everybody. The house is a lovely historic home and had touches of Christmas decor in every room. Beds were comfortable and kitchen had plenty of dishes and cookware. We had a couple of inusual needs come up during our stay and Blake was easy to reach by phone. Thanks for a nice stay!

Christmas 2022 Holiday Trip to Minneapolis
Decided to spend the Christmas Holiday in Minneapolis with our Daughter who works in health care in Minneapolis and had to work on Christmas Eve Day, so would not be able to come home to Wisconsin. The House was very cozy, comfortable despite the winter blizzard and bitter cold. This is a house full of Old World Character. We spent all our time time at the house visiting, cooking good food and just enjoying our time together as a Family. Even our Family Dogs, Norm and Rosie enjoyed their stay. This was the place to do it!! Easy to get area groceries at a variety of supermarkets. Blake, our Host was absolutely responsive to our concerns and questions during the whole time. Would rent Again!! Todd

Host profile image
My name is Blake. I bought my first house directly across the street from this property in 2003 and lived there for nearly 4 years. So, I know the neighborhood. I was also on the board of directors for 2 years. I live in this part of Minneapolis, and do all my business there. I run a very small property management and renovation company. We specialize in vintage homes and restoring their character.

Why they chose this property

When I walked into this house the first time, I knew I was going to buy it. Even though carpet hid the HW floors, and there was terrible wallpaper on the walls, the house has character and woodwork. Now, after nearly a decade of owning it, we stored it top to bottom into the home I knew it could be. I love this property and hope you do too.

What makes this property unique

Ample living space inside, yet a huge backyard (for the city). Great indoor and outdoor living spaces which are hard to find in the city.
