Falcon's View is nestled in the Ruahine Ranges. Private and elevated there are views of the rolling rural landscapes from every window.
The Studio is off-grid and provides a Queen Bed, Self-contained kitchenette, wood stove, gas cooker, solar lighting and still gets reception for most mobile internet technology. With access to native bush walks, hiking trails, and local wetlands, there is plenty to see while you are here, but take a break; genuinely rest. That's what Falcons View is for.

Relaxing get away
The property was exactly what we wanted, it was peaceful and in the depths of nature. The views each night of the sunset or stars where amazing and the area including the property has many hidden pieces for you to explore. Highly recommend

Glorious bush retreat
Magnificent view at the top of this very steep track. Thanks to our hosts who kindly shuttled us up and down and rescued us on another occasion. Despite cold morning and evening temperatures we were Very cosy with the little wood stove going and lovely snuggly bed. Thanks very much!

The McDonald's moved to Rangiwahia in 2009. They simply lived on the land and raised a family that they hoped would grow to bless their community.
The McDonald's chose to home-educate their children. As a result, each of the children has been hands-on with developing the land, buildings, gardens, animal husbandry, machinery and most anything that pertains to the country living lifestyle.
Building and hospitality are our passion. We enjoy making opportunities that will bless others.

Why they chose this property

Falcons View is situated on 70 acres of farmland with regenerated bush at the foothills of the Ruahine Ranges. Falcons View was designed and built in 2019 by the family as an avenue to bless others and to financially support their large family and charitable endeavours. Profits are used to sponsor humanitarian aid projects in New Zealand and in the South Pacific through BASECAMPGO and Adopt-a-clinic. This retreat was named Falcons View due to the frequent NZ Falcon's that live in the surrounding habitats and also for the sprawling vastness that drenches each window.
