About this property

Riverstone - Large Cottage w/ Dock, Kayaks, Paddleboards, Beautiful Views, AC

Things you need to know prior to booking: Rents Fri - Fri only during high season (last week of June - start of Sept), Sleeps 14 people (max 10 adults). Small non-shedding dogs only. Linens and towels (indoor) are provided. A post-rental cleaning service is provided, but the property is to be left in a tidy condition (in accordance with the departure checklist provided). No parties or events. Lead guest must be 30+ years of age. A supplemental information form must be completed.

Riverstone is a fabulous example of how the face of cottage country has changed in recent decades. No longer a place where furniture goes to die, a cottage is very often now a showpiece, rich in views and quality furnishings and loaded with modern comforts. Riverstone is all of this and more. Perched on famous Canadian Shield granite on a quiet channel of the Severn River, and constructed with an architectural style that takes full advantage of the setting, Riverstone brings with it all of the tradition and atmosphere one expects on Muskoka's doorstep.
The main level of the cottage is the hub, with an elegant kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is equipped with all you will need to prepare the meals to keep your group well fed, and the dining area enjoys bright light from all sides. A few steps takes you into the living room, a magnificent centerpiece to this cottage with a cathedral ceiling and floor to ceiling windows with a view that just doesn't quit. The master bedroom is just off the living room and is complete with a 4-piece en suite and its own private deck area - great when you want to sneak a morning coffee before everyone is up and about or enjoy a nightcap under the stars.

There are 5 bedrooms in total, plus an additional pair of twin beds in the loft, so there is lots of flexibility to handle any makeup of which your group may consist. Of course, with large groups you may need to do a load of laundry now and then so there is a washer and dryer on the lower level. The lower level isn't just utility though - on this walkout level you will find another living area complete with large screen TV and those great views and additional sleeping space. Of course, if the sun is making things a little too hot, Riverstone has central air-conditioning for comfort no matter what.

Let's go outside and have a look around. You DO have to exercise some caution on the grounds as the cottage is located high up on the rocks and there is a drop off. As such, this property may not be suitable for small children who like to roam. There is a staircase of about 60 stairs that will take you down to water's edge, where you will find good deep water swimming. A view down the channel is spectacular, giving you the feeling of being in a canyon or fjord. As you are located on a channel off the main river, the only boat traffic you will see is local, but of course you can head into the main river, where the boating is world famous. Be sure to experience the marine railway at Big Chute - and you are just a couple of locks away from Georgian Bay. For local exploring there is a paddleboat. For those who like longer excursions on the lake, a pair of kayaks will take you as far as you care to paddle.

The surrounding area has much to offer. Explore the historic area of Midland-Penetanguishene, pop over to Orillia for shopping and entertainment or enjoy a round of golf at Bonaire. All are fun, but we think you'll be happy staying put at Riverstone.
