About this property

Cosy Cottage Getaway with Woodfired Hot Tub

Make our cosy cottage your choice for a family-friendly getaway in Ohakune. Our renovated 1905 railway cottage boasts 4 bedrooms, 2 living areas, bathroom and separate toilet, a modern kitchen, fireplace and a fully fenced section with outdoor entertaining and a woodfired hot tub. Located at junctions end, you are walking distance to many of our local amenities, close to the entry of our regions beautiful maunga and a short drive to the shops. We know you'll love our cottage as much as we do!

The space

Our cosy, recently renovated railway cottage provides modern comforts with rustic charm!

Get cooking in the fully equipped kitchen with its own mountain view and everything you'll need from a toastie machine and smoothie maker to pots, pans and plateware. Make your morning coffee with the Expresso coffee machine or plunger and eat at the breakfast bar or across at the dining area. We will get you started with one small bag of coffee beans and some tea.

Wifi is included and Netflix available on the TV. The sound bar is Bluetooth capable and Chromecast is built into the TV. You'll even find some family games in the lounge to make your stay as entertaining as you want it to be!

Open plan kitchen, dining and living create a central hub in the heart of the cottage, with a second living area opening out into our outdoor entertaining area. Here you will find a BBQ, pizza oven, woodshed, the hot tub and outdoor seating.

Fully insulated with gas hot water, a log burner fireplace and a heat transfer system, you'll keep nice and toasty in the cooler months. And in the summer months, with fully fenced front and back outdoor areas, you can open the doors up and feel the breeze move through.

All bedrooms have extra blankets and oil heaters if needed and a place to hang clothes. Our second living area has a day bed, with linen in the drawers underneath if needed.

Towels and linen are provided as part of your stay and all beds will be made with fresh linen for your arrival. Wood is also provided for use on the property, and is included as part of your stay.

We have a baby bath, baby step and toilet seat, high chair, portacot and bedding, as well as a few kids toys and games for small humans to enjoy. You'll also find in our kitchen, kids cutlery and plateware so they don't feel left out!

Furry family members are also welcome to join you for your stay, but please notify us on booking. We have a couple of pet blankets that can be used, as we would appreciate pets not directly on our furniture or beds.

We are still working our magic on this beautiful old railway cottage, so some of our outdoor fencing and surfaces are yet to be painted. We hope this won't impact your stay and you enjoy our home as much as we do!

Other things to note:

Single bunks are for children only.

The woodfire hot tub can be used year round. The hot tub is chemical free and water can be used for up to three days before it would be emptied and refilled. Please ensure the guest welcome book guidelines (available in the cottage) are understood for it's use, and follow all instructions for filling up, use, and emptying/cleaning. You must empty the hot tub before you check out from your stay and complete the cleaning instructions.

Guests are required to conduct a pre- checkout clean and leave the cottage as it was found, which includes clearing your rubbish on check-out from inside the cottage. Instructions for this can be found in the guest welcome book. Cleaning charges for your stay cover a post stay inspection, cleaning and refreshing the cottage, as well as laundering of linen and towels.

Quaint and Stylish Cottage
We loved this place, especially the wood fired hottub! It is the perfect combination of heritage features like the doors and original plank flooring and modern upgrades like the kitchen and bathrooms. Lots of consideration by the owners into all the details that make the place homey and comfortable. The place looks small from the outside but there are 4 spacious bedrooms and a great little enclosed back patio. We were here end of Feb to hike the Tongarrio alpine crossing when the town was quiet but imagine it much busier in the ski season. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely stunning home!
The house was absolutely beautiful inside and out, it had everything we needed plus more. Having the toys and books available for our toddler was wonderful. We will definitely be back.

We are a family of four with two furry family members in tow and live in the Wellington region.

Why they chose this property

While in need of a breath of fresh air, we fell in love with this old railway cottage and its rustic charm, cute bullnose verandah and gorgeous native timber flooring. Over the last year, we have spent our time bringing some life back into the cottage and hope that you enjoy the space as much as we do!

What makes this property unique

We are sure you will love cooking up a storm in the kitchen with its own mountain view, or simply settling in by the fire in the heart of the cottage or relaxing the day or night away by soaking in the woodfired hot tub.
