Property was clean, new. However there was ongoing construction in the basement, 5/6 days from 8:30 am on, which was not disclosed at the time of booking. We arrived late Fri evening and were awoken 8:30 Sat morning to loud construction noise. As we were attending an all day event we left and the workers were gone when we returned. But again 8:30 Sun morning, more construction. At this point I messaged the host to ask if it was going to continue for our entire stay?? She apologized and said no it shouldn’t. Well Mon morning, again! This time, it was not only annoying but also a problem as we work from home. We were unable to speak on the phone with our clients, it was so loud. Again I messaged and she said she would tell the workers to stop all work, which they eventually did for the rest of the day. But the next day, they were back along with granite installers. They were grinding and pounding so loud, we had to go off property to work. When we returned, construction vehicles were parked in the driveway and we were unable to park. The next day they were back again after the host assured us “the comfort of her guests was her priority” By now we are on day 5 of our stay and we’ve had construction every day, even though I complained several times. So finally we go downstairs and tell the workers to stop as we are trying to work. They tell us they are aware we are being inconvenienced and feel bad but the host has told them to keep working anyway as the job needs to get finished!! I message the host to say we’re NOT HAPPY, not only because she didn’t tell us about the construction in the first place but also that she told us it would stop, but told her crew to keep working! She responds by saying could I please let her know our schedule so the crew can work around it?!? Like, we work from home and then we like to relax. There is NO GOOD TIME!! If she’d been honest at the start we’d have stayed elsewhere. I twice told her I was extremely unhappy and didn’t feel we were getting the stay we paid for. Either inform your guests when they book or discount the stay. Or better yet, don’t rent when there is construction happening! She apologized again but offered no compensation and when I responded that apologies don’t make up for the last 5 days, I received no response. Also, better have lots of data to stay here as wifi is TERRIBLE!! Pet friendly but back yard is littered with dozens of bombs no one has picked up from previous stays. Not recommended ?
