About this property

Charming Coastal Farmhouse Close to World Class Golfing, Beaches & Trails

Your family will appreciate their own little oasis of calm and be close to everything while staying at this newly renovated farmhouse with its own private shore. Envision a luxurious 2 acres of space to call your own. In the morning you can sip your coffee as you overlook the water and enjoy the sounds of sweet birdsong. If it's a Sunday, pop over to the Farmers Market and pick up some fresh local produce or delicious baked goods (or both!) for your evening supper or afternoon beach adventure. If you're in the mood for a ceilidh (that's Scottish Gaelic for social gathering), head on over to The Red Shoe, locally owned and operated by Cape Breton's own famous Rankin Sisters. You will experience a real treat, with live music, delicious food and cold drinks on tap, it'll be an experience you won't soon forget.

This truly is the perfect space because it offers you privacy and accessibility. Centrally located, it's a mere 25 min drive from the world renowned Cabot Links & Cliffs golf courses, yet even closer to beautiful sandy beaches in Port Hood (the Beach Capital of Cape Breton) and South West Mabou, scenic hiking & biking trails (there is an INCREDIBLE "rails to trails" system to explore, the aforementioned local farmers market, and delicious local eateries. Your only challenge will be deciding what to do first!

Great location & huge yard
The house was clean and beautifully decorated. We were able to enjoy the giant back yard playing wiggle ball and also relax on the deck. Great proximity to town and amenities. Theresa was also responsive and accommodating. When we visit Grandma again we will definitely rent this house.

About the host

Host profile image
I live in Oakville Ontario but grew up in the Port Hood/Mabou area, and just love how chill the lifestyle is, especially in the summer! Visiting there is one of my family's favourite things to do, we love to go to the beach, relax on the deck, spend time with extended family and friends, BBQ and take advantage of all the fun things to do in the area.

What I really love about being a host is hearing how much my guests enjoyed their vacation. Being able to provide that soft, comfortable place to land after a long day of activities, or being the space people just enjoyed for hours on end is so special. What a thrill to know people created lifelong memories while staying in our sweet little farmhouse. It's truly special.

Why they chose this property

Mabou has always been known for it's beautiful shining waters, it's quaint charm, it's lovely authentic people and all around gorgeous views. We felt fortunate to find this pretty little farmhouse on the water, as it's tucked away from the main roads yet so close to all the wonderful attractions the area offers. We like the peaceful simplicity of the area, it is just so relaxing.

What makes this property unique

I think our property is unique because it gives guests the peace, space and tranquility they crave, yet is close to everything they could ever wish to do on a summer holiday. There are so many fun things to do - festivals, beaching, golfing, hiking, biking, e-biking, you name it! Whale watching tours, fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, wineries, distilleries, the activities are truly endless!!
