Would Not Stay There Again
While the property is faily nice and in a great location, I would never stay there again due to two big minuses: 1) the price charged by the property exceeded the price on the VRBO listing. 2) communication with the property manager was abysmal. I first knew something was wrong when I received what read like a scam email stating that if I did not pay additional money within 24 hours, my booking would be cancelled and all funds received to date would be kept. The email did not mention VRBO. It did not mention dates. It did not even mention a city. Those factors led me to think it was some sort of scam. Nonetheless, I replied since we did have a trip coming up. The sender responded they they needed more money to pay for my reservation for a unit in Sydney on a site I do not use, making me even more suspicious. Just to be sure, however, I checked my booking for a VRBO unit in Sydney and found that the property manager's name matched the sender of the mystery email. Next I inquired why I owed more money since I had already paid 100% of the advertised price. The property manager informed me that under their deal with VRBO they can bill directly and can bill for whatever amount they choose to charge. In other words. DO NOT TRUST THE PRICES LISTED ON VRBO FOR ANY UNIT LISTED BY THE MANAGER OF THIS UNIT. VRBO said it was againt their policy for properties to charge above the listing price, but they did nothing to fix the problem.
