At Amaryllis Beach Resort, relax by one of the 2 outdoor swimming pools or spend the day at the beach where you can enjoy snorkelling.

Always an enjoyable vacation

Lovely beach for swimming. Many palm trees for relaxing in the shade if you like. Very efficient staff - always willing to help. Not a large variety of foods at the buffet - but quite enough for a great meal. Did not like paying for 30 minutes of internet for our boarding passes - but whatever.....

Warm, friendly welcome, great sandy beach.

For our fifth visit in six years, we found little change except for the better. The exterior is getting a new coat of paint, and the gardens are in fine shape after winter. Each time we go back we find staff greeting us like long-lost friends. The beach is wide and sandy, with its protective ring of stones holding back the surf; this makes for a serene peaceful swim. The Turtle's Nest Bar and Restuarant, which are right on the beach, makes a fine place for lunch, afternoon snack,or Sundowner and has always been one of our favourite passtimes. The studios whether Garden-view or Ocean-view are very bright, cheerful and roomy.

Lovely spot

We have stayed there now seven times and really like the beach and the location, it is very close to the boardwalk and the ease of which you can get most places by bus from the hotel. Hotel staff is very friendly and have gotten to know many of them like family over the years. Hated to come home!

White sand and blue water

Fantastic resort, great accomodations, good food-watch out for the rum punch!! Staff were extremely friendly and made you feel very welcome there. Wifi wasn't very good, but who cares-i was on holidays!!!!

Horrid!

Honestly worst stay I've had in Barbados. The staff was not friendly at all, and the food was so so bad. We checked out early since we found a cockroach in the room because the cleaners didn't clean the room properly before we got there. We found a piece of cheese under the fridge. We were trying to find places to recommend for people to stay for our wedding next year, this place is so not recommended.

Relax, it's Barbados!

Our latest stay didn't start out very well because our reservation was lost. I don't know if it was Expedia's fault or the hotel's but when we arrived there was no reservation. It was 10pm and I was traveling with my 86 year old, wheelchair bound mother and my special needs brother. Needless to say it was a stressful situation. Luckily, I had a copy of the email confirming our reservation. Because of the special needs of our party we needed two connecting rooms. Jason and Anthony, who were manning the office when we arrived, went out of their way to get us rooms (actually rooms that were an upgrade) and I'm very grateful to them for that. The next day, reservations FOUND our reservation and everything was settled. After that inauspicious start, we went on to have a great time. Nothing is better than a beachfront room in Barbados. Our rooms were clean and comfortable, not overly fancy, but sitting on the balcony watching the ocean made up for that. The staff was amazing. Everyone from the front desk to the groundskeepers were wonderful. I especially appreciated how kind everyone was to my mother and my brother; it meant a lot to me. I recommend the Amaryllis to everyone who is looking for good value for money, a great location and one of the best staffs I've ever met. Thanks Amaryllis and hope to see you soon!!!

Great beach, nice rooms, nice gardens, terrible re

The hotel rooms were nice and spacious. The hotel location, gradens and private beach are great. The hotel restaurant however is a clomplete writeoff. Restaurant staff are literally unfriendly as if being bothered, and food is dreadlful. Fortunately, there are various other restaurants in walking distance.

Very friendly comfortable place one a wonderful beach where one can walk for a long while. Excellent pools, friendly pool bar and music at dinner in a very pleasant outdoor atmosphere. Good food, often buffet. Breakfast hearty and good.

Planning our next stay!

Hotel and staff were absolutely fabulous! It was my fiancée and I first time to Barbados...the people are incredibly kind and the location of this resort couldn't be nicer. The hotel itself was a little run down, but nicer then what we expected for a 3 star... It was very clean and had everything you could ask for! Price was great, and there's lots of great restaurants within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this resort! We will be going back soon!

Great little hotel

Love the warm atmosphere of a smaller hotel and the friendly, helpful staff. Also love how close it is to the beach and ocean. Super great breakwater so it is safe to get in the ocean without being bowled over by enormous waves. Lots of beach chairs and good shade from palm trees on the beach.

Good location, cozy atmosphere.

It was our nineth visit to Barbados but the first time at the Amaryllis. We were very happy with the location, our beachfront one bedroom suite was very comfortable and had great views. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definately return.

Kitchen facilities very convenient. Room very clean. Good A/C. View of and right on the beach. 10 beach walk to Hilton. 25 minute beach walk to St. Lawrence gap boardwalk area. 30 minute walk into Bridgetown. When booking be very clear and review. Prepare for less than fast checkin. Review late checkout options clearly.

Right on the beach, wonderful view of the ocean

It is certainly wonderful hotel. The rooms are so close to the beach - just few yards which makes it so nice to enjoy the sea brezze at night. Even if it costs few dolloars to get ocean view rooms, they are worth it. Most importantly, very well equipped to make your own food which is what I liked the most

Okay

This hotel has alot of potential. However it needs a major over haul. The room was very spcaious but bathroom and floors and ceilings are very outdated. We had an ocean view suite and what a view we did have. Our room was not dirty or anything like that just outdated. Staff however was very friendly and willing to help if I was just staying there for a night I would return but not for a week or longer I need more comfory.

Will keep going back

This is my 2nd trip back to the Amaryllis. We had to wait a while for our room but then we were upgraded to an ocean front room. I was travelling with my teenage daughter and visitn my father so the hotel serves as a great base for getting out and about. The beach was wonderful and the hotel staff are really helpful. The hotel is kept very clean and tidy.

More than good enough for me!

The hotel is sort of set back and down form the road, which gives a more private feel compared to others we passed. It is a dated hotel, but certainly clean. As advertised, a three star hotel with a five star beach. Check in is at a relaxed pace, but seems to fit in with the theme of the island. Be sure to shop around for Catamaran rides. It is a must, ours was better because we were not scrunched onto a Catmaran, very personal trip, with all the same features as the other providers. The phone in the lobby is something to watch out for, no advertised rates, but I just "had" to call my brother on his birthday... bill was $56 CDN. I wished there was better signage, or wish I had asked at the desk. Best Beach in Barbados! Reading the other reviews helped us to plan our trip. Oistins, and The Gap are must, and very close. Good food, great music. If you were looking to get more out of your "all inclusive" don't get it here, things shut down early, which is really OK, sun sets earlier. I am going back as soon as I can!!

Barbados January 2010

Only there for one night while in transit to cruise ship. Great location and beach. We were put in one of the older rooms which apparently is only used for one night stays. Nice pool. Bathroom was quite tired. Fan vent over door was dirty. Restaurant breakfast was quite good. Office would not take a credit card imprint as we were only there one night. Had to pay cash for two meals and drinks.

Brilliant place to stay

On arrival we were upgraded to a seaview suite when I had booked a garden view room so that was a nice touch. Hotel is right on the beach and the staff from the manager to the cleaners were the happiest most friendly people I have dealt with. The hotel is conveniently situated for exploring the island, there is a bus stop right outside and you can travel anywhere for 2 Barbados dollars, 60p in English money. The local people themselves are extremely friendly and the island has a very low crime rate so travelling around is very safe. Needless to say I am planning next years trip already to this great hotel and wonderful island
