Great Vacation

Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Food was excellent no matter where we went at the hotel. Restaurant staffing was good but not always great. Pools and bars were another great feature. Would go back again.

Not bad hotel - rocky beach

Hotel accommodations were ok. Staff not as friendly or outgoing to serve you as other Jamaica resorts. Hotel is looking run down and needs some repairs / updates. Resort gets crowded on days when cruise ships are in port right next door! Goof resort for young kids. Dinner buffet gets repetitive after a few days. The 3 a la carte restaurants were good, but you are limited to eating in each of them only once during your stay. And they are not always open.

Great location and perfect resort size

The beach is steps from all other activities but without the distraction of a lot of noise. There are enough spaces that you can be as far away from or close to the action as much as you like. The staff go out of their way to service you. We were impressed with how very hard and enthusiastically the staff does work. The entertainment staff, in particular, work long days and with smiles!!!! Beautiful bay and sunset views from 'beachview rooms'.

Just got back from a 1 week stay, Mar 4-11/15. Had a great time. Hotel is dated and maybe a 3 star?, but fine for the price we paid. Just don't expect a lot and you won't be disappointed. What we liked the best here was the variety of entertainment and activities, there was always something going on, music playing, lots of activities, and good entertainment shows in the evening. The self-serve soda machines & ice were a nice thing to have here, whereas at other resorts we've had to wait in line at the bar to just get a pop. I didn't think the food was all that great, but my husband and daughter liked it, so... Too bad the resort is "showing it's age" as it has a lot to offer. Always a lovely breeze (especially in the open air lobby), and no bugs! May come back again if the price was right, but there are a lot of other nicer places to experience I think. Great trip overall.

Best family vacation destination

For an extended family (ages 2-52) this was the best destination ever! Water park, beach, magic and circus shows, staff who aimed to make the kids laugh - safe water and food to meet every taste - resort is not new or fancy but the experience exceeded our expectations. We will be back!

Nice hotel. Close to beach.

Enjoyed our stay. Meals were pretty repetitive. Thought maybe more seafood. At least one night. Entertainment could have been better. One thing it was quite, which we enjoyed and there was always lawn chairs to be had. Beach and at the pools. All in all good.

Nice Hotel with friendly staff

Overall my stay at the hotel was amazing with one minor flaw. Upon checking in I was greeted with a refreshing tropical drink which made me feel special and my wait for my room tolerable (my room was not ready upon check-in. There was plenty of delicious food and drinks during meal time. The staff was amazing, super friendly and very helpful. Kayon, Pauline, and Lisa from front desk have a beaming personality. The ladies took time out of their busy schedule to socialize with me without me feel like I was interrupting their day. Keavon (not sure of the spelling of his name) was so thoughtful... my niece, my son and myself was staying in same room and he took the initiative brought a small bed for my little niece. Love the heritage day it was very informative. The only flaw was that during the outside show there was not enough tables and chairs for my family and we had to wait a long time for the employees to bring in an extra table and chairs. t

Got my moneys worth

Overall, great experience with this resort. The staff was fantastic, super friendly, food was actually tasty and fresh. However, walls are paper-thin and twice had to tell our neighbour's to keep it down. Cleanliness was okay, found a cockroach on day one, was dead, and seemed like housekeeping might have not swept or just pushed the dirt under the bed.

Relaxing Easter long weekend

We only stayed 3 nights (Easter long weekend), but had a ball! The resort is very nice and relaxing. I was amazed at how friendly the staff was everywhere. Great pools but the beach is a bit small. I wanted to go on the little catamarans but they claimed it wasn't windy enough, yet the resort next door had theirs out. Food was ok... nothing to write home about but not bad. I did enjoy the grill more than the buffet. Wi-fi is kinda expensive and they only have a few small areas for smokers which was a bit of a pain especially when it would start raining. We all huddled under a beach umbrella. The room was good... excellent views and comfortable beds. Overall, a good stay! It is very family friendly if you have kids.

great for kids

Great water slide and a lazy river to float in. Shallow pools for all ages. Food was good only coffee left a lot to be desired. There drinks are ok, no premium alcohol , a lot of pre made drinks. There is no expresso bar or good coffee to be had. Rooms were fresh and clean. Would recomend ocean front, not rooms facing the water slide as all the ac units and other equipment roars away all night.

Nice hotel.

I stayed at the sunset beach resort for 5nights with my boyfriend and i loved it. Everything was great except for the lack of lifeguard on beach which made me feel uncomfortable going into the water, as well as not enough variety for the breakfast buffet. in addition some staff were not friendly nor approachable. otherwise it was fanastic, we loved it and would return.

Great for kids/family

The beach, pools, water park, and bar were great. Staff were very friendly. Room was kept clean. Could tell resort was showing its age a bit, but this is the least important thing when going on a family vacation with kids. Food was great but the wish there was more food available at non-meal times... there is a snack bar, but the line is HUGE!!! Other than that, all else was good. I would go back for sure.
