Torre de Oro's location lends itself to enjoy the best of Puerto Vallarta-- great restaurants, nightlife, transportation to other places around Vallarta.
We were first put in a room on the 2nd floor. It was ok but only that. Patio was above a restaurant and had no view. We moved to an apartment on the 7th floor on the NE corner. We had some ocean view in the distance and two balconies on either side. It was huge and bright. The king sized bed was overly firm to the touch but we didn't get any back pain so I guess it was just fine. The shower was large and the temperature was consistent. The staff were friendly. The wifi was fast. The room wasn't luxurious by any means but we were very happy with the value.
Toilet did not work had to be moved to another room while it was being fixed. The noise level from adjoining rooms was very high. Some of the front desk help were arrogant, lazy and unhelpful. They ran out of towels for pool and beach use. When you hung the do not disturb sign on your door it was ignored by cleaning staff.
Would be 100% better with working air conditioning
This is a fair-priced hotel in a great location. The service at the front desk was always very helpful and pleasant. However, the air conditioning in the rooms is terrible and the beds are like upholstered boards. Very uncomfortable. You won't want to spend a lot of time in your room unless you want to sweat.
There was no AC the entire 5 days. The hotel manager did buy every room fans but it was hot! The day we left, the hotel was supposed to have a taxi waiting for us at 4a to take us to the airport. No taxi, no desk person, no stay there ever again!
Very clean and friendly hotel centrally located within walking distance to the beach and Los Alos. All rooms have balconies and most have king size beds. Standard rooms lack refrigerators and coffee makers and the hotel does not provide ice. There have been some obvious upgrades to the bathrooms and balconies, however, beds need to be replaced. Staff are extremely friendly and personable. The hotel has a small bar and restaurant and I had lunch there which was very good, however, the facilities are rarely used. Hotel is close to Co Co's Kitchen/Restaurant and Garbo nightclub. I was told the hotel, formerly The Abbey, has had the same owner for thirty years and that the hotel is for sale. I would definitely stay there again, mainly for the location and nearby restaurants and clubs.
Conveniently located, very friendly staff, and a great value. This is not a luxury all-inclusive resort. Nonetheless I was extremely please with my room and its views of the beach.

Cozy, Convenient and Friendly
Very friendly staff especially the front deskman, Jesus. Small but adequate room with a balcony facing the ocean. Very reasonable considering its location. Busy restaurant next door so you may want to ask for a room as high up as possible.
Very good location close to beach and the party. The rooms are clean but the shower had water glow issues.

Friendly hotel
This is the former Abby Hotel. Although it is no longer exclusively gay, it remains very welcoming to all guests. No pesky wrist-bands which target you as a tourist.
