Vacation rentals near Dirleton Castle

This home was exactly what we needed for our three day visit to Edinburgh. All communication was accurate and easy. The home was extremely clean, quiet and comfortable. It was very well stocked and we wanted for nothing. Good bed and lovely shower. Access to the city was easy with the bus stop right outside. Coffee shop and small supermarket across the road and a “chippy” around the corner. Lucky to have found it and would highly recommend it!

A beautiful modernized old weavers cottage. Located in a small pictureistic (sp?) village. Very handy for our travels to the various golf courses we played. Our host Jackie was very accommodating and even arranged for us to show up a day earlier than planned because of an airline foul up. Would definitely stay there again if another golf holiday planned for St Andrews area.

Enjoyed the property very much. A home away from home. Hostess suggestions were much appreciated.

Our 1850's Fisherman's Cottage was absolutely stunning! The cottage is super clean and has all of the amenities & comfort you desire. There is a bonus of 2 bathrooms, beautiful bedrooms and the most comfortable beds. Having said all of that, the most impressive thing for me was the cottage location. Gus & Lindsey have chosen the best cottage in the village for the spectacular views from every window and every time you step out your front door.......A COMPLETE WOW FACTOR!NOTE: I left the windows slightly open most of the time. Litterally, you are right againt the sea, so it was magic smelling the fresh seaside air and listening to the waves role in against the rocks during high tide was priceless!The quaint fishing village of St. Monans is peaceful and very beautiful, so take advantage and have your cell phone and or best camera ready because you will have stunning views in every direction.Our hosts Gus & Lindsey were so nice and very helpful in communicating all the important information we needed to know before our arrival, so they simply made it a breeze. My only regret is that I really wish VRBO had made room to include some of our photos of this charming fisherman's town they call St. Monans........ It's breathtakingly beautifulPS - The 2 min walk to the Giddy Gannet is a must if you like the best coffees & fresh baked scones & various other morning treats, plus a nice glass of wine or beer with home made sandwiches in the afternoon. We all loved it. A beautiful property within walking distance to shopping as well 'downtown' Edinburgh, the castle and various museums. We had everything we needed and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again!

Our stay was magnificent. The sea view property was worth the upgrade. Waking up to the water and sky was so beautiful. We enjoyed a meal on the patio. The host answered all our questions and requests so quickly, even while they were on vacation themselves. The property was so clean, and the details were so well done. This is a perfect vacation for a couple ready to relax. The bus system to North Berwick Main Street is not the most convenient, but we made it work. We even walked all the way into town one day! Thank you for memories we will never forget!

We so very much enjoyed our stay at this lovely pristine property. Ian and Janis are wonderful hosts and were most helpful. We so enjoyed the views of the ocean from the upstairs windows- quite a treat for prairie folks. We even braved a dip in the tidal pools down the road October 1! We would stay here again in a heartbeat if we are blessed enough to return to the area of Scotland in the future . Many,many thanks .

Sometimes it's easy to write a review about staying somewhere, and in a sense this is one of those situations. Simply put, there is absolutely nothing that isn't top-notch about Robin's Old Merchant's House suite. From the appearance of the neighborhood and the house itself, to the gardens leading up to the front door, to the tastefully decorated and stylish interior, this comfortable and well-appointed home is truly a delight to stay at. The suite itself has every amenity, and the thoughtful designer touches and attention to details sets it apart from most others. It's quiet location, the comfortable beds with plump pillows and soft duvets, and the roomy bedrooms (with ample closets and drawers) provide for restful sleeps and ease of dressing. The kitchen is large and very conducive to food preparation and cooking, and the eating area easily seats four around 3 sides of a table. The location is well-suited to easy 10 minute (or less) walking to numerous local restaurants and pubs, as well as historic cathedrals, buildings, and various points of interest. We could walk to the Hop-On Hop-off bus loop in about 20 minutes, and another 10 minute walk would take us across North Bridge to the Royal Mile. Taxis are easy to flag near the house, and it's also a short distance to Waverley train station. We had a remarkably enjoyable experience staying at The Old Merchant's House while visiting Edinburgh, and we'd wholeheartedly recommend it's consideration to anybody else.
