Holiday rentals near Tipperary Excel

From the minute we arrived Tom was there to make us feel welcome.His wealth of local knowledge is amazing and on several occasions he suggested excellent alternatives to trips we were planning.One evening he brought his friend Pat to fix a window and we spent a pleasant hour or so being entertained with singing!Tina keeps the house in perfect order and you want for nothing. One note of caution though. If Tom offers you Poitin be careful, it's potent stuff! Maginstown house is perfect for large family groups. It is beautifully quiet and yet in easy reach of lots of interesting towns, cities and countryside. The house is brilliantly equipped with everything you could possibly need, including of basic kitchen staples. Nicholas is an excellent, thoughtful host for whom nothing is too much trouble. A gem of a place!

Beautiful bungalow with home from home comforts ..

A great rustic cottage to give us a first taste of rural Ireland. Tucked out of the way it can be used as a base to travel out and about or make use of the many walking guides in the cottage. The cottage is old so do not expect everything modern but all you need is there including free wifi, several tv channels and a games room. The hosts are very friendly and keen to make sure you have no problems. Enjoy the scenery, the farm animals and relax. If coming out of Tipperary, get to Kilross and take the only left turn there is. We were given a road name that we never found so missed the turning initially.

Tom was very organised & helpful. Had a wonderful stay. Cottage is beautiful and really enjoyed our stay. Very well equipped and stocked with tea, coffee, biscuits and toiletries. Great to have dishwasher and tablets were waiting for us. A home away from home. Thanks for a lovely break.

True to the photos, this cottage was the perfect place to relax and unwind. Very well appointed cottage in beautiful surroundings. Host was very kind and helpful. We will be back...

The property is in stunning countryside & has a flat, well-cut lawn - ideal for our two dogs. The bed in the downstairs bedroom is comfortable & the shower hot & powerful.However, there were negatives of our stay which Sonia’s acknowledged efforts to give dog walking options & to ease departure didn’t wholly ameliorate.-We had the cottage’s Eircode & the code for the electric gate, but not where to find the keys.-Once inside we were assaulted by the smell of frying. The kitchen seemed covered in a film of grease, including the microwave’s interior.-Segregating rubbish into appropriate categories would be helped by providing separate containers rather than 1 black sack & food waste caddy.-Laminated signs & Post-it notes all over the house told us that all switches & sockets must be turned off when not in use and that heating & lock settings must remain unchanged (the latter being enforced by Sellotape on both door locks). Sonia has probably had bad experiences with guests, but 1 or 2 signs would do.-Sonia has expenses to cover to maintain her property (largely tax deductible?), but the cost of a week in New Thatch Farm is twice that of larger/better equipped holiday cottages.I know that we are not the 1st to write a negative review (Catalina Aug 2022 & Yohanan Oct 2022 on another booking website), but we hope that this review is taken in the spirit intended. So future guests can enjoy this historic cottage & that Sonia’s life is as stress-free as possible.
