This was our 5th year in a row renting this property and we love everything about the cottage and the location. It is quiet, peaceful, and absolutely gorgeous. The host is responsive, accommodating and easy to work with.
We had a wonderful time, the weather was fantastic for most of the stay. The place was clean and deluxe. We spent a fair amount of time sitting out on the deck enjoying the views or even inside looking out the large beachfront windows. Beautiful sunsets for most of the week. All in all, very relaxing.
The setting for this house couldn’t be better. Westward facing on Lake Michigan. Sunsets likes you wouldn’t believe. It was the perfect place for our family to come together and create memories. House was very clean and kitchen well stocked. Very grateful and can’t wait to come back.
This is our fourth year in a row renting this fabulous cottage on Cathead Bay. Despite cold and rainy weather this year, we still had a fantastic time. The views are breathtaking, the cottage is clean and welcoming, and everything about their cottage is perfect! Chris is super responsive and helpful. We are very grateful to Chris for sharing his amazing cottage with us! Thank you!
I think this was our THIRD stay and as always the beauty of the lake is right upon you, especially from the 2nd floor bedrooms it feels like you're right on the water!
This was our quietest stay ever as there was literally no one else on our part of Cathead Bay.
The amenities are all top notch, especially the kitchen is spacious, fully equipped, and with the very best equipment.
Yes, its a lot of house for just two people but we've rented up and down Cathead Bay for 30+ years and when you find the best, you stop looking.
We had a very relaxing time at this very clean comfortable cottage. Although we never use the area above the garage, it is so nice to have 3 bathrooms.
The house is very roomy, comfortable and clean, We tried our best to keep it clean!
The weather was very nice first 3 days and had some rain after that but we had plenty of chance to enjoy going down the road for the most beautiful private beach first 3days and star gazing during the night. There is a nice nature walk right behind the Light House off the Cathead Bay Rd. It was a lovely short walk in the nature. We enjoyed our activities outdoors and watching the video in the rainy days with a glass of wine or hot chocolate !
We always have a wonderful time at this house, cannot wait to come back again! Dear Hass family, thank you for letting us share your beautiful cottage!
The views, especially sunsets, were breathtaking! Owner was helpful & all instructions were clear. Very clean & cozy cottage. Short & easy steps down to private beach & the lake! Our sons enjoyed taking a “polar plunge”. :)
We are repeat clients because of the great location on a private road, the peace and quiet, and of course those never-ending Lake Michigan sunsets you can view from the deck or a comfy chair in the living room. The bedrooms are literally about 30 feet from the water so you can hear even the gentlest of waves rock you to sleep. We used the shared/privaate beach to access the state forest shoreline and it was great as always too.
We've stayed at a half dozen locations around Cathead Bay and none have been quieter than the Hass house. It might be the beautiful and wide wooded lot, but whatever the reason it can't be beat. The bedrooms are within 50 feet of the shore so if you like the sound of water at night, just open the windows wide.
The amenities are great, all the appliances seem brand new to me, especially the fridge. The place itself is spotless, couldn't be improved on. The only problem is I wish we could've stayed more than a week! But we'll be gack next year, God willing.
My husband and myself are regular repeaters to this property. We always have a nice quiet time to ourselves. This time, my friends, from Cape Cod, Los Angeles and Madison flew in to Traverse City and joined us for 3 days at the house. They were so impressed how beautiful Northern Michigan was and truly enjoyed staying at the quiet comfortable house. We had a wonderful relaxed time to catch up, took a walk to the Nature Trail and to the Light House. We cooked great meals together and talked into the late night. It was a perfect vacation for all of us. It's all because we had a very nice place to stay. Thank you very much !
Six of us, 3 couples, had a wonderful week on Cathead Bay. We loved the seclusion and solitude. The house was just the right size for us - each couple had their own bathroom (my husband and I stayed over the garage - very cozy). The living room was spacious, and the kitchen extremely well stocked. Everything had been thought of to make us feel at home. We were blessed with near-perfect weather - the sunsets are, indeed, spectacular. The beach is sandy and the water is shallow way out to the large rock. We had a couple of bonfires on the beach, thanks to lower lake levels this year. Thank you for making your home available - we hope to return soon.
A truly wonderful place to stay! My sister, cousins and I take an annual trip to somewhere in Michigan. This house was perfect for us! Access to the shore of the lake was perfect and the deck was fabulous! Will definitely keep this house on our list of places to revisit!
Great place to get away for a long weekend. Stayed with a group of 9 extended family members. Lots of people but never felt crowded - helps that the kids had their own room over the detached garage. Sunsets were fabulous every night.
Had a few minor issues upon checking in, but the owner was extremely helpful in communicating with us to get everything worked out. Absolutely would stay here again. Highly recommended.
Small road bump early on with cleaning crew. Owners worked with us to make this right. We had 6 people staying and it was fabulous. Lots of room for playing games and eating together. The spacious area made it easy to get through a rainy weekend wonderfully! We really enjoyed ourselves. It was great to be able to interact with family from different parts of Michigan. Easily able to park all the different cars that we utilized to meet at the cottage. Thank you very much!

Pat. So happy that you and your family enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your understanding regarding the cleaning crew. We hope to have you back. You are welcome any time. Chris
The 7 best friends had space to play yard games by day and sit watching the sunsets by night. We had enough space for the everyone to have a bed and cook in the kitchen. The space was super welcoming and comfortable. The town of Northport is cute for a coffee or doughnut as well. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants to disconnect from the busyness of everyday life and fall asleep by the waves.
My family enjoyed our week at the Cathead Bay cottage. The cottage is very clean . The view from the cottage is amazing. I have never seen such beautiful sunsets. We loved that we could hear the waves from every room. There was a lot of space for all 10 of us. Really enjoyed the swing /bench on the deck overlooking the lake. My niece used the table out front to set up a puzzle that she worked on all week.
We went to the beach at the end of the road a few times and enjoyed the solitude of a beach with little dunes. The beach in front of the cottage was compromised due to the high water levels but we still enjoyed putting our feet into the water and looking for Petoskey stones.
This cottage is remote, we had no cell service unless we drove down the road a bit. The city or Northport was about 15 minutes away. We enjoyed shopping in many of the small local towns. The farmers market on Friday is a must!
Overall definitely would recommend this cottage.
We had a great stay at this very clean lake house. The kids enjoyed going back and forth between the beach and basketball hoop located on the property. The views from the deck were amazing. We were able to use the beautiful private beach at the end of the road as well. On one of the chilly days we took a short drive into town and had delicious donuts from Barbs Bakery. We also stopped by the Mitten Brewing Company and sat outside with some tasty beers. Highly recommend this lovely home in Northport.
