Beautiful home in Bonvicino!
We were a family of 6 adults and 3 children (ages 8 years, 5 years and 2 years). Clay's home in Bonvicino was perfect for us. It is a beautifully restored 17th Century villa, with all the modern day amenities that you could need on holiday, including wi fi and a heated pool! It is nestled in the hills of Bonvicino - and is set in the midst of nature, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It was just what we needed - and the autumn colours added to the magical setting.
The three bedrooms on the ground floor were ideal for my son (2 years) (Clay provided a crib and high chair), my parents, and my wife and I. My brother and sister-in-law, and their kids took the two bedrooms on the upper floor.
The large living room and open plan kitchen was where we spent our time together as a family, enjoying our wine, meals and getting a chance to cook together.
Nearby Dogliani (approximately 15 to 20 minutes driving time from the villa, depending on the fog) had a lot of restaurants and big supermarkets where we could buy our provisions.
We spent our days in the beach town of Noli, the vineyards and wineries of Barolo, Monforte D'Alba, La Morra, Nieve and Alba (the International White Truffle festival was an added bonus). It was very easy to drive to all these places from the villa.
Communication with Clay was never a problem. He is passionate about a lot of things, including in particular photography, food, wine and travel - my entire family enjoyed spending time with him and getting his insights on so many different subjects. Clay has a lot of wonderful recommendations for places to visit, things to see and do, and places to eat and drink. We could rely on his suggestions with our eyes closed. On our last day, he even took us for a traditional Italian lunch (which lasted four hours!) - and the food and wine was spectacular. There wasn't a single dull moment.
I would highly recommend this villa. I know that my family and I shall return to it very soon!
