About this property

Casa dos Avós for 8 people

This House, representative of the local architecture of the end of the fourties, has been restored in 2012 preserving its original characteristics. It was intended to be a farm house, with cellar, courtyard and other attachments. It has a terrace with water tank, in which one can bathe, shower and a large garden with automatic irrigation.

The House has three bedrooms and a living-or bedroom, another living room with a table for 8 people, fully equipped kitchen and two bathrooms. It also has a large patio and a large winecellar-room.

The location is very quiet but not isolated and with great views over the Serra da Lousã (chain of mountains with schist villages and lots of possibilities for beautiful walks).

The river pool of Serpins is 2 km away and the one in Casal de Ermio is located five minutes by car. The town of Lousã in only 10 minutes by car; the villages of schist in the Serra da Lousã are also just 15 minutes away. Lousã is a historic town where you can make beautiful walks.

The House has bed linen, towels and baby bed. It also has television, internet and washing machine.

Built by their ancestors, the House now belongs to a Swiss couple who speaks Portuguese, Spanish, English, French, German and Swiss German.

Portuguese retreat

Casa dos Avós is a charming old house in beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed our stay there and were comfortable. The one major draw back is the fact that one of the bathrooms is not located in the main house, but is down a flight of stairs.

Beautiful country home in Serpins

We had a lovely stay at Casa Dos Avos. Wonderful country setting, close to Lousa. Coimbra is about a 45 minute drive by car. Luis was a great host who greeted us on arrival. He gave us local restaurant recommendations ( and even made our reservation for us) as well as sites to visit nearby. Recommend O Burgo restaurant was delicious with a great view of the castle. We highly recommended this property.

Our favorite place to be in Portugal

This was the first VRBO that we wished that we could stay there forever. The setting was beautiful, and the owner's family home was immaculate. Our gracious host even presented us with cake from the local bakery which was almost identical to his grandmother's recipe and wine. Detailed local information was given. Perfect location to explore this beautiful part of the country, from the windmills of Penacova to the little schist villages. Thank you for sharing your family's manor home with us, Luis. Hope to visit again.

Beautiful home in a serene location

Our family of 7 (4 adults and 3 kids) LOVED this beautiful property. Everything was very clean and as described but the pictures don't do it justice. Beautifully renovated and close to Coimbra and Lousa Castle. The weather was less than perfect during our stay but the house made up for it. Our kids loved the outdoor space. Gated parking on site. The host was very easy to communicate with and ensured that we had a comfortable stay. Highly recommend this property!

Schönes Haus auf dem Land!

Ein traditionelles portugiesisches Landhaus mit schöner Aussicht und ruhigem Garten, in der Nähe eine Reihe von gepflegten Flussbädern (kostenfrei), interessante Ausflugsziele in der Serra de Lousa. Für unsere Teenager nicht ganz so prickelnd, obwohl das WLAN gut war. Dazu hätte es vielleicht noch ein paar Freizeitangebote, Spiele oder ähnliches im Haus geben müssen. Ansonsten aber schöne Raumaufteilung, Wohnbereich und Küche sehr luftig, Innenhof mit zusätzlichem Tisch, an dem man prima Essen konnte - überhaupt das ganze Haus optimal gestaltet, um auch warme Tage gut zu überstehen (viel Schatten). Kleiderschränke in den Schlafzimmern wären ganz schön. Die alten Bauernkommoden sehen super aus, sind aber nicht so funktional. Die Bäder waren super gepflegt. Wenn man zur Ruhe kommen und das Innland von Portugal kennenlernen möchte genau der richtige Ort.

Local perfeito para repouso

Fiquei alojado com a minha família e um casal amigo. Tínhamos crianças e tudo correu na perfeição. Saliento a amabilidade dos proprietários e a limpeza e higiene de toda a habitação. Camas confortáveis e muito espaço dentro e fora de casa. Respira-se o ar do campo e os fins de tarde são muito agradáveis no jardim, com árvores de fruto e relva para estender uma toalha ou brincar com as crianças. Recomendo para quem quer fazer uma pausa e recuperar a energia da vida agitada dos centros urbanos. Muita coisa havia para visitar mas foram só 4 noites! Paisagens lindas nas redondezas.

Em primeiro lugar, gostaria de agradecer a amabilidade e simpatia dos proprietários e enaltecer a obra e conceito patentes na Casa dos Avós. Trata-se de um local extremamente aprazível, onde se pode desfrutar de todo o esplendor e tranquilidade campestres, num espaço onde simplicidade e bom gosto se aliam ao conforto. A região envolvente é igualmente muito interessante e rica, principalmente do ponto de vista paisagístico. Recomendo Totalmente a Casa dos Avós

Caros viajantes, Fiquei alojado na Casa dos Avós na útlima semana de Agosto e fiquei bastante agradado com a estadia, em todas as suas vertentes. É uma casa totalmente remodolada e restaurada, pelo interior e exterior, sendo que as obras foram finalizadas em Julho de 2012. Pelo que o Sr. Carlos, proprietário referiu, fomos os primeiros hóspedes portugeses, depois de alguns estrangeiros. Esta é uma casa que aconselho para quem viaja com amigos ou família, uma vez que possui 4 quartos em excelentes condições - nós fomos 4 casais mais 2 crianças e ninguém dormiu em sofás-cama - diria que é uma casa para familia. Os quartos são excelentes, com grande luminosidade. A cozinha está totalmente equipada e ao nosso dispôr. A sala é grande, com sofás para todos. As casas de banho são perfeitas. A higiene e limpeza foram notáveis. Apenas a internet não funcionou nas perfeitas condições devido à fraca intensidade de sinal (que vinha dum local vizinho). O exterior é também muito bom e aconchegante. Gostei bastente do mobiliário exterior - temos muitas espreguiçadeiras, cadeiras de jardim, cadeiras em forma de espreguiçadeira, mesas, etc, ao nosso dispor. A zona da Adega é excepcional - um local amplo, sossegado, restaurado, com possibilidade de fazer lá grandes festas ou até jogar umas cartas :) Os jardins são enormes, com árvores de fruto (o nosso pequeno-almoço foi sumo de laranja natural). Miúdos e graúdos ainda experimentaram o enorme tanque, que serve de piscina porque está preparado para tal. Quanto às redondezas, o local é bastanet sossegado - não se ouve nada nem ninguém. Contudo, estamos perto de tudo: Lousã a 15 min, Coimbra a 40 min. Recomendo uma visita a Góis (20 min)- tem praiais fluviais e zonas pedonais junto ao rio como nunca vi! O proprietário é bastante simpático e recomenda bons locais, tanto para passeio como para almoçar/jantar. Juntanto a isto a EXCELENTE relação qualidade preço, recomendo com todas as letras esta opção. Cumprimentos, João Costa

Un séjour enchanteur

Après une longue route, quand on arrive à "la casa dos avos", on se sent au paradis, tant pour l'accueil de Brigitte et Carlos, les propriétaires que pour le charme et le confort des lieux. Tout est prévu pour qu'à toute heure de la journée on se sente bien : un patio, à l'ombre, quand il fait très chaud l'après-midi, un bassin en terrasse ainsi qu'une douche à côté pour se rafraîchir... La maison est décorée avec soin mais sans ostentation et on a vraiment très rapidement le sentiment d'être chez soi ! Quant aux environs, les lieux à découvrir ne manquent pas, et sur les conseils de Brigitte et Carlos, nous avons pu apprécier les nombreuses piscines fluviales, ainsi que le château de Lousa et son excellent restaurant "le Burgo", qui vaut le détour à tous points de vue. "La casa dos Avos" est donc un lieu que je recommande vivement !
