Nightmare!
Caution when booking. Place is filthy. The owner comes round and warns you of all the things that are broken and how poorly put together everything is. Even that if we used a plug in heater and water heater at same time the place could blow up. This was after an hour and a half of driving up the worst dirt track. Never have I booked somewhere and left to go and find somewhere else but I did this time. Owner knew it wasn't fit for holiday makers since as soon as we opened the door to him he asked us if we were OK or if we wanted to change our plans. Was looking forward to a remote hideaway. This was a horror movie come true. Now owner is ignoring my requests for refund.

Beautiful looking cottage, in a stunning location, but very dirty and un-hygienic inside
Cottage was very dirty inside. My partner went out and bought £12 worth of cleaning products to clean inside cottage before we unpacked. He then spent an hour cleaning inside property. The settees were all dirty and stained, we moved one of cushion pads and underneath was all ripped, and covered with dogs hair and crumbs. We did not take a bath in the property because even after my partner scrubed it with bleach, it was still too dirty to go in.. There are all rust, and limscale marks around sink and the bath. We opened one of bathroom cupboards and the amount of dirt that was left there was appalling. The toilet was all stained and the only water that came out was dirty and brown. The bed sheets were dirty and stained, we went and bought a new quilt, pillow and mattress protector, not to use the dirty one that was there. We didn't do any cooking because the chimney flue on raybarn cooker hadn't been cleaned (for god knows how long) Was dirt, grease, and bits of burned on food at bottom of shelves. Microwave had burned, and splattered food still in it. My partner and I drove 13 hours to get to this place, The location was perfect (when we finally got there) wrong postcode on booking sight (kw12 6up - not the kw12 6ur stated) extra 40 minutes drive away.. I was very disappointed with the cleansines of the cottage - even more so due to the corronvirus epedemic.

Wonderful walks and wildlife
The cottage is in a fantastic situation and is very cosy. The power is via a generator so on arriving at the cottage this seems a bit noisy but once you are inside you don’t really hear it. The raeburn stove keeps the cottage very cosy and is great for cooking. There is also a microwave, toaster, kettle and small, very effective, fridge with a large freezer box. The forestry road into the cottage is an adventure in itself and definitely not for low cars. We even took the train one day for a wee trip which was fantastic. All in all I thoroughly recommend the Keeper’s Cottage if you want to get away from it all, walk through great scenery for miles and do some wildlife spotting. (We saw, eagles, ospreys, deer just to mention a few). Also brilliant if you like fishing. We’ll definitely go back.
