Traditional gite on the edge of the Luberon National Park.
This is a large, comfortable gite on the edge of the Luberon National Park. There is a large, sloping garden and a very large pool. All three bedrooms are huge - it's a very comfortable space for a family. Lovely outdoor eating area overlooking pool and garden. Excellent, modern gas barbecue. The owner, Carole, was very helpful and friendly and advised us to ring her if we needed anything. Pool cleaned regularly. Great location for visiting the Vaucluse region, and also not too far from neighbouring Departments. Very close to Roussillon, Les Sentiers des Ochres, Colorado Provencal, and the lovely town of Apt. Apt market is enormous and is sprawled across the whole town. Stunning scenery in this region, surrounded by pine forests and mountains, yet with a mediterranean climate.
Because this house is also used as a holiday home by the owner and family, there was a lack of cupboard space in the kitchen and bedroom/s. Also, it would have been good to attach the shower head to the wall - the showers were too low. We could only manage to work one ring on the hob, but luckily we didn't often need more as we used the barbecue. Make sure you take mosquito repellant to the region in the summer. Despite the very hot weather, the house is kept cool, even without aircon. The house is very private. No nearby neighbours. It was nice that we were not overlooked by any neighbours, due to the forest trees. Great for stargazing - we were able to see the milkyway!
Very nice house, lovely host. We didn't want to return home! Many thanks Carole, we had a wonderful stay.
