About this property
The Bridge House at Albion
The Bridge House was built in 1908 and functioned originally as Newgard's Store on old Highway One, which ran down to and across the Albion River. Beautifully expanded and restored in 2001, and updated in 2015, the home boasts redwood construction, wainscoting, a 10-foot ceiling in the living/kitchen area, two bedrooms, a back parlor, two bathrooms and full kitchen. It is surrounded by lush gardens brimming with coast-loving plants in bloom throughout the seasons.
Perched on the cliffs on the south-east side of the Albion River Bridge -- the last wooden bridge on Highway One -- the Bridge House offers birds-eye views of the Albion River and Bay. Lie in bed and listen to the waves crash against the wooden bridge timbers or sit on the deck and follow the birds gliding the currents. Sunsets are spectacular from the Albion Cove where you can find the fossilizing remnants of the logging railroad. Like kayaks or canoes? Walk down to Pacific Union College to rent a water exploration vehicle or if you have your own watercraft, head over the bridge to the "Flats" and launch for an up- or down-river ride for a small launch fee.
This is a great retreat for a family vacation, romantic weekend, or fun with friends. Located just seven miles from the village of Mendocino, the Bridge House is close to beaches, kayaking, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and much more. The Mendocino coast offers myriad activities for young, old and those in between! A short walk from the Albion store, which stocks fine wines, deli items, and just about anything you could possibly need, the house is also just a short walk from fine dining at the Ledford House. The Albion River Inn & Restaurant is just over the bridge.
The downstairs bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed with a pillow-top mattress and cozy cotton linens. It is connected to a bathroom with a shower, claw foot tub for two, and vanity. Up the wooden stairs, you'll find another queen-size bed with your own private balcony, comfort on a pillow-top mattress, and bathroom with claw foot tub and vanity. Radiant heat throughout the house provides comfort in any season.
The kitchen is stocked with the not-so-usual suspects; five-burner Italian stove, electric kettle, French press coffee pot, Cafepresso machine; drawer dishwasher; fridge; plus plates, cutlery, cookware, wine and beer glasses, etc.

Raquel was a great guest. Excellent communication. Left the house in tip-top shape. We’d happily welcome her back.
Everything was wonderful. The place has a great view of the Albion Bridge. Loved that it has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Would have been even better if it had a fireplace and hot tub. We will definitely be back! Thank you.
This property far exceeded our expectations. It was such a cute space, very clean and well appointed. The view was spectacular, the grounds/landscaping was beautiful. We were travelling to spend some time in the Mendocino area and at first I was hesitant because it’s a bit out of town, but that worry proved to be unfounded. It was a very short drive to town, plus we even were able to enjoy some things Albion had to offer as well as cruising up and down the coast to check out various local places of interest. Our host Allison was a great communicator, and was always prompt to respond. We enjoyed our stay immensely and plan to return soon.

Thanks so much for staying at the Bridge House for your visit to your mom!
Could not have been better. The location is beautiful, very easy to access and the owner did everything to make our stay pleasant. I highly recommend it to anyone coming to Mendocino county.
Thanks so much for a wonderful vacation!
Lovely little home! Very comfortable! I wish there were black blinds for the front bedroom as you can see the headlights from a vehicle when crossing bridge at night but I still would love to stay here again!! Perfect and peaceful! Great lil town!
Alison was very easy to work with before and during our stay. The home has great views and is clean with all necessary items. Would definitely come back again! Tysm Alison!
Very enjoyable house with great kitchen and communal living space. The floor in the upstairs bedroom could use a little work, but overall was part of the charm

Beautiful spot the house is a mix of vintage and modern updates.
Very comfortable very clean. Just loved it and there’s a great hardware store and grocery store about 100 feet away.
The Bridge House is beautiful and had everything we needed. The location was perfect for us since our family lives just 2 mins away ! The small store is within walking distance for last minute necessities. The beds were comfortable and the radiant heat in the flooring was amazing! We cooked a few family dinners and found the kitchen was well stocked and laid out. Alison is a great host. We will definitely stay at this home again.

Thanks for staying with us and we’re so happy you enjoyed the house. We think it’s quite special! We look forward to hosting you again for another family visit.
We loved this house in Albion, a picturesque village 15-20 minutes south of Mendocino. Lots of space, beautiful garden, nice view, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and small grocery steps away, handy when you realize at the last minute that you need garlic for your recipe! Would highly recommend!

About the host
Hosted by Alison de Grassi
Owners Alison and Alex de Grassi have lived in Mendocino County for over twenty years on the inland side of the county. They had dreamed about having a house on the coast for many of those years but it wasn't until 2015 that the opportunity arose. Their first visit to the house, which was newly on the market, was sealed the moment they set eyes on it. Coming from England, Alison was enchanted by the idea of living in Albion, an ancient name for her island of birth! As a professional guitar player, Alex is always looking for inspiration for his craft in his surroundings and the peace and beauty of the coastal area provide that in abundance.
