The house does have a wonderful ocean view with a lovely outdoor terrace. You can't walk to the beach though. House is remote. No groceries or restaurants in walking distance. Groceries are 20 minutes away. House has one double bed and the rest single beds. Clean but very basic bed mattresses. The house is also adjacent to the owners house. Owner was very friendly.

Beautiful house in a stunning area

We were a party of 5 adults and we all adored the house and location. The house is stunning and really well equipped. We loved sitting on the terrace watching the dolphins and enjoying the boats passing by. The beach is 5 minutes walk away and was the perfect snorkling and swimming spot. Raquel was really welcoming. We will definetly be back!

Worth venturing north!

After years of enjoying the Algarve we ventured the 2.5 hours north to Casa Sul Mar. We loved the fact that we had both beautiful secluded beaches and a fantastic capital city within such close proximity.The house was lovely and was equipped to such a high standard that it immediately felt like a home from home. Pedro and Raquel ensured that we felt comfortable to ask any and many questions and this helped us make the most of our week. We are pleased to highly recommend both the area and Casa Sul Mar.

Peaceful Paradise

Our stay at the end of November was absolutely tranquil. We chose this location to be close to some rock climbing areas. Although we did do a day trip to Sintra from here it was a long day. The location is fairly remote which is a benefit for incredible views and private beach. However, we felt cooking was definitely a must and the kitchen was laid out well with all the basics. We would have appreciated some better fry pans. The rooms are cozy and nicely decorated. Mattress were very firm and uncomfortable but adequate storage. We liked the bonus extra half bath outside. Being a little cooler at night it would have been nice to have a soft blanket or two to snuggle under. All and all a lovely piece of paradise that was greatly enjoyed. Can not beat a cocktail on the deck with the Atlantic dancing in from of you. Hosts were kind and accommodating. I would recommend walking down to Arrabida beach.It was super busy on a Sunday-full restaurants and good people watching.

Fantasitic

House Very stylish. There is everything you need. I like to cook, and the kitchen is large and very well equipped. Terrace allows meals overlooking the ocean. The house is located in a place that guarantees peace and quiet privacy. Each evening spent on the terrace looking at the ocean and sipping delicious local wines. Environment There must be a car for the entire stay (eg to get to the store). On foot you can walk to the beach close to home. This is one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. You can also go to large beaches with fine sand. There is a restaurant, shops with drinks and ice cream. It takes about 15 minutes and is not a problem even for a 5 year old. The proximity of Lisbon allows you to see all of its attractions. I would recommend trips to the great beaches of the open ocean. A place of relaxation, romantics and action :)

Staying at Casa Sul Mar in Potinho was actually the highlight of our Portugal trip. The house offers everything one might need: seclusion, marvellous views and comfort. It is arranged with style and is equipped with anything for the daily use, that is - it is perfect for both families and couples. It offers perfect base for exploring the Arrabida natural park. Within short drive one can reach beautiful beaches and some of the best for surfing in Portugal. In my opinion, however, the best asset of Casa Sul Mar are the hosts. After all a house is the just a creation of their owners. The communication with Pedro is perfect and he will provide you with any information you might need. Raquel keeps the house in perfect state and has arranged it with much taste and style. She will welcomes you with a kind smile and will show you in. All in all my wife and I are very happy having spent several days of our Portugal trip in Casa Sul Mar. Actually, our expectations about the house have been exceeded :) and would gladly revisit it one day.

Blissful stay in stunning natural surroundings

We absolutely loved Casa Sul Mar. A real gem, full of character, stupendous location and views over the ocean. Within the wild and beautiful hills of Arrabida, an unspoilt paradise of natur. Great place for a 21st century detox (but excellent wifi!). The high green mountainside is topped by a world class wild drive of breathtaking beauty. Hills sweep down to a necklace of glorious beaches fiercely protected from the traffic in high summer. Eagles soar, dolphins can be seen in the bay and apparently it is even home to wildcat and lynx. Closest beach, Portinho, only 10 or 15 minutes walk away, with a few beachside eateries. We chose O Farol where food and friendly service highly recommended. Beach is lovely, safe and shallow with interesting walks along the shore. Good place to cycle on the low road which gets closed off in summer. The house was perfect for us. A large cosy living room and big dining table. Massive glass sliding doors onto a huge deck area overlooking the ever-changing sea ad skyscape. Mesmerising. We spent many happy hours here. When hot enough the plunge pool is fun - with awesome views. Bedrooms, simple but cosy, and a very well equipped kitchen. It’s a great family space. Everything super clean and tidy. Furnished with great character; very homely and welcoming. Spectacular beaches abound nearby and a bit further away the livelier Costa da Caparica with Atlantic rollers and lots of eateries. A little train goes up and down this 17km fabulous seashore. We enjoyed wandering around the old parts of Setubal, had the best grilled sardines in a tiny local square, everyone so friendly. Bought magnificent huge steaks at the indoor market. Delicious. Recommend a trip to the Setubal castle where there is a bar up on the battlements with long reaching views. A restaurant in the evening. So much to explore further afield - one week isn’t really enough - we hope to return. Our hosts Pedro and Raquel could not have been more helpful and kind. They responded swiftly to all our communications and were very attentive to everything. It was great to meet them and get some local tips (especially about food at the Setubal market!) Impossible to imagine anyone not having a superb vacation in this perfect escape-it-all location not visited by the big tour operators. We can’t wait to return. Etwas Besonderes

Casa sul Mar (Haus über dem Meer) - der Name ist Programm! Es liegt in phantastischer Aussichtslage im Parque Natural da Arrabida. Die Terrasse und das Wohnzimmer bieten eine wunderbare Aussicht. So konnten wir z.B. während dem Abendessen Delfine beobachten, die in Küstennähe vorbeischwammen. Das Haus ist gut und persönlich eingerichtet. Uns hat die Liebe zum Detail beeindruckt: handgemalte Vögel oder Fische über den Lichtschaltern, das Naturthema, welches in den Bildern aufgenommen wurde, die Vielfalt an Farben. Wir haben uns in den wenigen Tagen sehr wohlgefühlt. Raquel hat uns sehr liebevoll in Empfang genommen, Pedro hat uns mit Tipps und Informationen versorgt. Herzlichen Dank Euch beiden!

Tolles Haus mit fantastischer Aussicht

Der Hausteil ist sehr geräumig und bestens ausgestattet. Auch die Küche enthält alle notwendigen Dinge. Die Lage oberhalb des Meeres ist toll, zum kleinen Strand sind es zu Fuss nur wenige Minuten. Die Aussicht von der schönen Terrasse ist kaum zu übertreffen. Wir haben unsere Ferienwoche im Casa sul mar sehr genossen. Pedro war sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Wir können das Haus absolut weiterempfehlen.

Volltreffer

Wir verbrachten mit vier Erwachsenen und drei Kindern zwei herrliche Ferien-Wochen in der Casa sul Mar. Die Aussicht von der Terrasse ist phantastisch, das Haus mit allem ausgestattet, was das Herz begehrt und die Gastgeber sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Obwohl wir zwei Familien waren kamen wir mit ein wenig Improvisation im Haus gut zurecht, auch mit der Badsituation. Trotz starker Sommerhitze ließ sich das Haus auch ohne Klimaanlage bei einer angenehmen Temperatur halten. Mit ein bisschen Einkaufsplanung verbrachten wir ganze Tage ohne ins Auto zu steigen, zwischen großem Balkon, kleinem Pool (super für die Kinder), und den Traumstränden direkt unterhalb des Hauses und in Portinho. Besonders bei Flut lässt sich an der Praia de Alpertucho hervorragend schnorcheln, Ausrüstung befindet sich im Haus. Vorteil der Südlage des Hauses ist auch, dass die Atlantikwellen hier nicht zu stark sind (anders als direkt an der Westküste) und auch die Kinder problemlos ins erfrischend kühle und klare Nass steigen konnten. Zu empfehlen ist auch eine Tour mit Antonios Boot vom Anleger in Portinho entlang der Küste. Ausflüge nach Sintra, zur Lagoa de Albufeira, in die schöne Altstadt von Setubal und Sesimbra haben wir ebenfalls sehr genossen. Kurzum: Es war ein toller Urlaub und wir wissen nicht, wie wir jemals wieder in einem Haus ohne einen solch tollen Meerblick unsere Ferien verbringen sollen. Obrigada an Raquel und Pedro!

Beautiful

Incredible location with amazing view. Essentially you are sitting on top of Pertuche beach. It is almost directly below you. This is a small cove that has the feel of a private beach. You are in a private neighborhood that only residents and guests can enter. The house is simple but in excellent condition and comfortable. It is well appointed and has a new kitchen and new appliances etc... There is a small pool you can use that also overlooks the ocean and is fun for the kids. We really enjoyed this place and plan to come back again.

Uma vista para o mar que dá para viajar.

A experiência foi muito positiva. Em todas as estadias existem sempre pontos positivos, negativos, de melhoria e outros que não são controláveis. No nosso caso, o ponto não positivo, é a piscina não ser totalmente privada, é partilhada. Para aceder à piscina tem de se entrar no espaço da casa ao lado (que é do proprietário) e, tendo crianças pequenas, acaba por não ser prático e funcional. De qualquer forma foi uma experiência muito positiva e recomendável!!

Entspannt, gutes Styling, tolle Lage

Wir waren mit 4 Erwachsenen und 3 Kindern im Haus. Das Haus ist architektonisch superansprechend, man merkt die Hand des Innenarchitekten. Alles ist komfortabel und üppig eingerichtet. Das Haus liegt in einer ruhigen Seitenstraße und ist nur mit Wohnausweis zugänglich. Der Strand nur die Treppe runter, die Milchstraße scheint nachts über dem Meer. Wir kommen gerne wieder zu diesen sympathischen Vermietern!

Great location right at the ocean

The house is located on a very special spot, right at the ocean with a beautiful view. It is nicely decorated, though not big if you would occupy it with 8 persons. For our family of five it was just fine. We loved the laid back beach village with a few restaurants, where watersports equipment can be rented. Note that you will need to take the car for any shopping.

Wonderful vacation in Casa Sul Mar

We stayed 2 weeks in Casa Sul Mar and it was wonderful. The house is very cosy and well equipped. The view from the terrace is spectacular, we spent hours just looking at the sea. We did our shopping in Setubal at the Mercado do Livramento. The fish, seafood, fruit and vegetable were amazing and so fresh! Pedro and Raquel, the owner of the house, are very friendly and helpful. It was a wonderful stay in your house, although the (summer) weather was not as good as expected... Everything was well organized, Pedro sent us perfect directions to the house and gave us useful recommendations. The house is well equipped, tastefully decorated, clean and spacious (we were 4 people) From the living room and the terraces you have breathtaking views on the sea, we definitely want to come back!!

Why they chose this property

Casa Sul Mar was built for my grand mother in 1950 by the famous portuguese designer Eduardo Anahory. The house has always been used as a family holiday and week end hide out, being rented at times when we spent holidays elsewhere. My grand mother passed away in 2010, and I inherited the house from my mother and started a complete renovation maintaining the full original traits of the house but giving it all the confort and amnities of a modern house. Today you can be at Casa Sul Mar as confortable during the hot Arrábida summer as well as during the winter time. The house coupled with the mystic environment of Serra da Arrábida with its unique ocean view and luxuriant vegetation, make this spot my favorite place in the world.
