Stayed with a friend to do some hiking. Great secluded location with privacy from neighbors, but a short drive to town. Firepit and outdoor space was great. I would stay here again if returning with family/friends.

We really enjoyed our stay at Betsy's Wildlife Retreat. A lovely modified A-frame with big windows in the open, vaulted living room, kitchen-dining area. Four adults, the three bedroom two bath layout worked well for us. The comfortable home was a good point from which we could tour the area including Lake Placid and the Olympic sites. Loved the many farm stands and markets tucked away in surprising locations. Check-in and checkout were a breeze. We found the house to be clean, easy to master. Nearby General Store was well stocked and offered hot and cold take-out food, groceries and necessities, and gas. Also enjoyed The Avocado Pit and the Creperie in Saranac Lake and the Tail o' The Pup close by the house had some good barbecue.

Great stay at Betsy's Wildlife retreat once again! Convenient location, easy to get into Saranac for all of the Winter Carnival activities. House is well maintained and this year we were able to burn some word in the fire-pit outside!

We had a wonderful week at Betsy’s Wildlife Retreat! It’s a beautiful home and very clean! Downstairs shower was wonderful! Kitchen well stocked for our needs (we are a family of 6). Weather didn’t always cooperate but there is plenty to do in a quick drive. My husband is a morning walker and loved the town trails. Only drawback was the loft queen bedroom which because of acoustics and lack of a door did not allow my 23yo to sleep very well. Beds comfortable though. Be aware that there is construction on the same road and other road noise as of this review. Despite that, I highly recommend! Thank you!

Saranac Winter Carnival 2025

Great spot! 1.2 mile walk to the village via a shortcut shared by a neighbor near-by. House met all expectations and Jackie was a fantastic host!

Stay at Saranac Lake

Our party of 4 stayed in this spacious 3 bedroom, 4 bed cabin in a wooded area in Saranac Lake. The area is peaceful and relaxing. The cabin style house was very clean and stocked with condiments and pantry items, along with plenty of dinnerware and utensils. We were able to grill and build a campfire, but bring your own wood. There were games if you forgot yours. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Winter Retreat

The property provided a perfect backdrop for our family to spend some quality time together over the holidays. Our kids are all grown up and getting the full group together can be difficult. We decided to take some time after the holidays to hang out in a beautiful area. The pictures of the home do not do it justice. The home had all the necessary elements to make for a good stay. The internet was extra fast so we could search up anything we needed. The tv had several options so we could view a movie together. It was a short drive into both Saranac and Placid which made it easy to explore both. We found a great coffee shop in Saranac called Origin that I would highly recommend. Placid was super busy so it was nice to go back to Saranac where it was bit quieter. I would recommend having a car with AWD just in case you get some snow. The house is tucked into a beautiful location but requires you to go up a bit of a hill (not too bad but something to be aware of.) It was a great house to just hang out at- we played cards, had a fire, and just spent time together.

The house was beautiful and situated in a peaceful, private setting. We were very comfortable throughout our stay, and all of the amenities were exactly as described. The location was excellent, with numerous activities just a short drive away.The hosts were responsive, communicative, and incredibly accommodating. We especially appreciated their prompt attention in repairing the grill during our stay. We'd love to be back!

Roomy, private house.

There was plenty of room in this A-frame, including big closets. It was nicely decorated with quality furniture. The kitchen was modern and the yard was large. No neighboring houses were visible.

Huge, spacious home!

Our family of 5 (+ one dog) loved your home! It was super clean and very comfortable for our family to relax and have family meals together. The open floor plan, giant windows and huge deck made it the perfect mountain location. It was nicely secluded, yet close to town. Our dog loved running throughout the woods, and we loved not worrying about busy roads and close-by neighbors. The air conditioners made sleeping very comfortable on the hot days. We would love to return in the fall when the trees are turning colors.

Peaceful and natural

We loved the property especially the fireplace and the large A-frame windows. It was amazingly peaceful to relax after a day of skiing or skating or cycling. Close proximity to Saranac Lake and 15 minutes from anywhere in Lake Placid. The place was clean and well maintained. Will be visiting again.
