Woodpecker Cottage

We had a lovely stay at Woodpecker Cottage. Very clean and we had everything we needed. The children enjoyed the outside space especially the wildlife and the tennis court. The even better if would be a bigger sink and a shelf in the front left bedroom bathroom as the sink is very small and overflowed if the tap was put on fully.

An excellent family stay

We stayed here as a three generation family group, and had an excellent time. From the time of booking Beth and the team were incredibly friendly, facilitating a visit ahead of our stay so we could check everything would be suitable for our family member's needs and showing compassion throughout. The house is lovely, plenty of space for everyone to not feel crowded on top of each other. The hot tub, fire pit, outdoor grill & pizza oven made staying in the house itself an adventure and the grounds, the animals and play area were a delight for the children. If you don't know the area there is also so much to do in Bowland, albeit not all of it accessible countryside.

Exceptional property

I echo the many positive reviews of this property. Very responsive host, idyllic setting, perfect for a large group. There were 10 of us visiting from the States to attend The Open and do some sightseeing, and the home suited us well. The nearest town is Garstang, which has some great shops and cafes. I would highly recommend.

Perfect spot for a family celebration

We were a large family group ranging from 80's to 6 years old. Woodpecker cottage fitted all our needs perfectly. Children loved the play area, adults loved the social areas and the bedrooms were all excellently equipped and clean. The communications prior to arrival were also excellent, every query and request was answered promptly. We paid ahead for 2 dogs (one in each cottage) but sadly these could not join us in the end. I didn't let Beth know before or during the visit, but on explaining the situation once back home a prompt refund was issued.

Amazing house for an extended family party.

Woodpecker cottage was everything we’d hoped for, for our family party. It was warm and welcoming and exactly as described. Couldn’t have been better. Will definitely book again if we’re looking for a large house for a party.

Families weekend

Wonderful stay

We had a really enjoyable stay at Woodpecker Cottage. We were celebrating a 60th birthday and 60th anniversary, there was plenty of room for all 13 family members inside the property and we enjoyed the outside space using all the facilities. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need. The bedrooms/bedding/towels all lovely and clean. We would recommend a stay at this property.

Beautiful house and view.

We LOVED our holiday at Woodpecker. Both for 2 of us for a few days peace and quiet and for 14 of us when our family arrived to celebrate a big birthday. Everything we needed was there for a fabulous time. Already recommended to several people we know with mobility problems

Family Gathering

Another lovely Easter break at Woodpecker. We have been coming here for many years - a family gathering with 3 generations. As always the owners are very helpful and accommodating - communication is never an issue. The grandchildren spent many happy evenings in the hot tub - so did a few mums and dads. The house is very well equipped and maintained with plenty of space for all the family. The children enjoy using the outdoor pizza oven and the barbecue area was well used as we were fortunate with the weather. One of our grandchildren is disabled so the ground floor bedrooms are just what we need. Woodpecker Cottage is an excellent property for all the family.

This is a very comfortable, spacious, and well-equipped cottage, with great host communication. It was perfect for our family gathering over New Year, with one of the great assets being all the en-suite bathrooms. Lovely rural location with great walks locally and further afield. The only negative I can think of is the constant hum from the M6, which is a very minor point.

Woodpecker Cottage

A brilliant, rural cottage with everything you could need for a family break. Spacious rooms, lots of seating, lovely walks, a secure garden at the back, a tennis court for all to use, a fire pit and bbq area with an outside fridge, ample parking, the kitchen was full of everything needed, the owners had thought of everything. A washer and dryer, iron and board, hair dryers and alarm clocks in the bedroom draws. Farm shop, supermarkets and entertainment centre was just a short drive away.

This super-clean, well equipped, accessible property with fantastic views was a joy to stay in. The owner's personal welcome visit was nice touch along with starter supplies of essential. items. NB This property's very rural location makes driving on very narrow country lanes essential.

65th Wedding Anniversary Celebration

The Woodpecker Cottage was absolutely perfect as the main get together event, due to its access, ground floor en-suite bedroom for my elderly parents, no steps except the conservatory, which they easily managed We had 4 of the beautiful cottages and this accommodated all our needs Have stayed before with a smaller group and will certainly stay again and as a family we are looking at maybe a summer month, as the surroundings and a trip to the village would be ideal on a sunny day

Annual family get together

Trying to find somewhere big enough and with wet room facilities is always a challenge. Woodpecker cottage ticked all the boxes. Tha accessible bathrooms on the ground floor are perfect. The layout is great as is location. What a difference it makes when you don't have to try to find logs for the fire. Everything is there. Hopefully we can return when the weather improves. All round fabulous place with very helpful owners.

Birthday Weekend

Three generations of our family gathered to celebrate my husband’s 80th birthday. We have stayed at Woodpecker many times and always enjoyed our visits. We used a local business for buffet and birthday cake. The house is spacious and comfortable and also accessible for one of our granddaughters who is permanently in a wheelchair. The newly installed wood fired hot tub was particularly popular with the grandchildren. I would definitely recommend Woodpecker for large family gatherings.

We could not have found a better venue and location for our family celebration. Highly recommended.

We booked Woodpecker and Mole End cottages for a family get together and birthday celebration over the early May Bank Holiday. Everyone had a fantastic time! The cottages were delightful and extremely well appointed. The children loved the play area, tennis court and visiting the horse and chickens. We used the Pepperpot Catering Company, as recommended by the owners, for our celebration meal and they were amazing with delicious food and excellent service. We also catered for ourselves and found the facilities really easy to use and everything we needed was available. The information about the area was really helpful. Some of us walked to Scorton while others drove and we met at the Barn cafe. Some of also drove to Beacon Hill Country Park for amazing views across to Blackpool Tower and the Lakes. The whole family (16 of us) agreed that it had been a memorable and delightful weekend and no-one wanted it to end. The information provided before arrival was really comprehensive and Beth kindly showed us around after booking to get our bearings and plan bedrooms. All in all a highly recommended venue and location.

Fantastic property. Home from home.

Thank you so much for a wonderful, magical Christmas stay that brought our extended family together for the first time ever! We loved the welcoming atmosphere - gorgeous Christmas decorations, very cosy and everything we needed. The Aga was a new experience and your guidance helped it to be less overwhelming. In the end we mastered it and had the most amazing meals. All rooms were comfortable and my Dad particularly liked the accessibility of his groundfloor room - one of the main reasons for choosing the property. The stove was beautiful and we appreciated the logs that you provided to provide the cosiness that Christmas demands. The views were amazing on the clear days and will stay with us forever. The property had everything we needed and our one request to sort something was promptly responded to. A home from home which was comfortable for all of us and gave us plenty of space to enjoy our Christmas together. We would definitely recommend this property for a large group and we hope to return one day.
