Apartment was in a good location, easy to walk downtown. Good communication by the host. Check in/out was very easy. Property definitely has some wear and tear, but was as advertised and a great size/location for the price.

The booking and check-in process was easy. Our host, Alex, communicated via email four days before our arrival to explain in detail how to check in and check out as well as the rules of the apartment. The apartment is very spacious and we loved that everyone had their own room. We were within walking distance to everything we wanted to do. There was parking available on the street, but we chose to park in a garage. The neighborhood is residential and while it felt urban, with a lot of local traffic,, it never felt unsafe.

One night in salem

Parking is odd, but there was one. Older property for sure, just didn’t seem like a super secure neighborhood. Beds not so comfy, very low to ground, fridge in dinning area is different. Close to everything. Super touristy town.

If it was possible to leave negative stars I would!! This was BY FAR the WORST experience I have had with a VRBO in my life!!Upon arrival at the property, we found the front door to the rental unlocked AND OPEN! I’m talking visibly open from the street, anyone could have walked in. We were a group of 4 ladies, so you can imagine the concerns this raised for us.After checking the entire property to ensure we were alone, it was then we noticed the ABHORRENT state of the property. The entire apartment was filthy, the door to the balcony was not locked and there was a broken window in the “bedroom” with the twin beds, that had simply been covered over with a YARD SIGN!! A yard sign, y’all.After all of this, as you can imagine, with the property falling so short of even bare minimum standards of cleanliness and safety, my group and I decided to find other accommodations. Not an easy task last minute on a very busy tourist destination.Once we had relocated to our secure lodging, I contacted Alex, the owner, explaining the situation and respectfully requested a refund. Imagine my FARTHER shock that Alex himself admitted he has been the one to leave the property completely UNSECURED, stated he did not understand my safety concerns and refused to refund my money.If you’re looking for a relaxing, worry free stay in Salem, DO NOT STAY HERE or his other property!!!!!!

Clean and Comfortable

This second story apartment accommodated our party of five adults in town for a family gathering. It was clean and perfectly comfortable for a short stay. It's ideal for lodging needs along MA's north shore whether attending specific events or just touring the very scenic area and interesting attractions. Host was responsive and accommodating.

Experience was ok. The location was the main issue. I have children and did not feel safe walking on that area. The price was very high for a poor neighborhood.
