Murphys Getaway - Enjoy Wineries, Hiking, Concerts, Shopping & Small Town Charm

My house is steps from the Indian Rock Vineyards tasting room and a 1.5 mile pleasant walk/drive to Main Street in Murphys where you’ll find unpretentious wine tasting, great restaurants from thin crust pizza to California nouvelle cuisine, Gold Rush history come to life, outstanding shopping for all budgets and great antiquing opportunities. A little further afield you can enjoy caves, ziplining, walking tours, kayaking, skiing, snow shoeing as well as many hiking trails including Calaveras Big Trees State Park with its famous and stately Redwood trees or…

Stay in your robe and slippers and relax on the back deck with a peaceful view of the woods. Enjoy local bird life visiting the many feeders. Kick back with a glass of wine, a good book or gather everyone together to watch a movie in the cozy den.

My home is fully equipped with modern conveniences to ensure your comfort and enjoyment including a kitchen outfitted for cooking, microwave, dishwasher, washer and dryer, TV with cable and free WIFI.

The master bedroom looks out on the beautiful deck and includes a king size bed and full private bath. The second bedroom also has a king size bed and desk for working remotely and is adjacent to a full hallway bathroom.

The kitchen, dining room and entertainment room are connected which makes for a great opportunity to visit over meals, have a movie night or enjoy board games.

To ensure you get settled in and have a great start to your stay with us, we will provide an initial supply of toilet paper, facial tissue, and paper towels, but these may not be enough for your entire stay and you may need to purchase additional supplies.

For security purposes, on August 1, 2022 we are installing a Ring doorbell at the front door and cameras above the garage doors that records those entering the home. There are no devices inside of the home.

Check-out instructions

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
On departure please leave the property in the same general condition it was in when you arrived.
Place used towels in bathtubs. Turn off thermostat, indoor and outdoor lights, ceiling fans, and TVs.
Put kitchen & bathroom trash in outside bins in driveway (black = trash; blue = recycling; green = yard waste only - no food compost).
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Guests should not create excessive noise at a level that disturbs neighbors; Code-enforced neighborhood quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
Guest must request permission from the Homeowner to allow people on the property who are not in the Guest Party.
All house rules are enumerated in the Short Term Rental Agreement attached.

Perfect location!

We attended an event at the Ironstone Amphitheater and this place was less than 10 min away. It is such a cute and cozy place with everything we needed. We enjoyed our coffee on the back deck in the morning and a family of wild turkeys visited...it was awesome.

This lovely home was located in a nice quiet area and about a mile away from the lively downtown main street. Highly recommend this place if you are looking to relax in the mornings and evenings and wine taste during the day!

We had a great time at Murphy while driving to Bear Valley daily for skiing. The house is located at a very convenient location for shopping and food. The house had everything we need, and very nicely decorated and comfortable. We enjoyed the backyard as well.

Great rental close to the snow

We rented this house for a few days and enjoyed driving up to Bear Valley from it. It is a great location with all the amenities you need and the place was really nice. And it was only a short 50 min drive up to the snow in Bear Valley. I really recommend it :)

Great Anniversary Weekend!

My wife and I had a great stay at Jennifer’s cabin to celebrate our first anniversary. The house was clean, well maintained, and very cozy! Communication from the host was great and the instructions were simple and easy to follow. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family!

Amazing getaway spot

We had such a great time here! The location tends to be below the snow line, but getting to snow is a quick drive away. This location is surrounded by wineries and nature, and is very close to downtown Murphys with its cute shops. We loved the house itself too. Very spacious for three people with comfortable beds and a cozy fireplace. Staying here was such a great experience!

Quiet getaway

I originally moved to San Francisco from Oklahoma in 1991. While I love living in the city, I often like to escape to Murphys to decompress and commune with nature. In 2010, I started an Intellectual Property legal consulting business which allows me to travel while I work, so I like to get up to Murphys as often as possible. I have traveled to every continent except for Antarctica, but I don't plan to let that exception stand for long.

Why they chose this property

I first fell in love with Murphys on a weekend trip with my best friend. We were exploring the Gold Country on Highway 49 and stumbled upon Murphys on our way up to hike through the redwoods grove in Calaveras Big Trees State Park. After that weekend, I came back many times to enjoy the wineries, restaurants, hikes and dreamed of buying a vacation home in this quaint historic town. In 2016 my dream came true, and I bought my own place to escape in the woods.

What makes this property unique

It is a picture perfect setting in Murphys nestled on a 1/2 acre with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, and formal living room with a sky light and large picture window overlooking a beautiful large back deck and a family room with a fireplace. I love watching the birds, squirrels, and deer from my hammock on the back deck or from the warmth of the den with binoculars. The first weekend I moved in I saw a flying squirrel jump from tree to tree behind the house, and I was certain this was the best decision I had ever made.
