About this property

18th Century Cottage in Dorset Countryside

Summary:
This idyllic country cottage is surrounded by peaceful woodland and fields. Once an 18th-century barn, it has been lovingly restored and what a welcoming place it is. Inside, you'll find a traditional open fireplace, wooden beams and lots of exposed brick. The cosy sitting room is the perfect place to hunker down on cooler evenings, there's ample sofa space for six and a TV to watch films. Upstairs you will find 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and downstairs there is a 3rd bedroom and bathroom.

The Space:
The open-plan kitchen diner has high quality appliances to cook up delicious home cooked meals, and a farmhouse table for everyone to eat around. Upstairs, pretty bedrooms await with peaceful views of the Dorset countryside. The master bedroom comes with a comfortable king-size bed and a contemporary en-suite bathroom. Next door, you will find a well-sized twin room and a family bathroom with shower and bath. Downstairs, there is a further twin bedroom with its own ensuite shower room - great for those with mobility restrictions. Enjoy meals outside on the small terrace, or just sit back and relax with a book. Spot wildlife, listen to bird song and take walks straight from the door - this is a blissful retreat!

Guests will have access to the entire property.

The Neighborhood:
The cottage is located in rural Dorset and is surrounded by uninterrupted views of peaceful woodland and fields. Despite its rural location, you're still close to plenty of amenities and the beautiful Dorset coast so you can get the best of both worlds. Cranborne Chase is within walking distance; it was once King John’s hunting ground and one of England’s last ancient woodlands. Wimborne has a great Farmers Market on the 3rd Saturday of every month, which is perfect for picking up local produce.

Within 30 minutes drive, you can reach some of the region's most charming towns. Shaftesbury has a lovely high street full of independent cafes, shops and pubs. 30 minutes south will take you to the coast, where you can choose from many beaches such as Bournemouth, Highcliffe or the Isle of Purbeck. Nature lovers will enjoy a trip to Holton Health, where there are ample opportunities to spot birds and wildlife. Walk, fish, swim or cycle - this is a brilliant area for outdoor activities.

Getting Around:
Due to the remote nature of the property, a vehicle is recommended for getting around.

Gorgeous cottage in a quiet area. Beautiful fields all around. Staying in there was very relaxing. It was also not too far away from the beach or Paultons Park. The house was very clean and modern inside. Each bedroom had its own bathroom. Communication was great. Neighbours were friendly. We had a great stay and would highly recommend renting this beautiful cottage.

Tranquil countryside
The cottage is extremely comfortable and cosy, and very well equipped with some thoughtful touches The setting is beautiful and the views are quite spectacular. It was bigger than we expected. The bedrooms are all a good size, and the beds are really comfortable, with good quality bedding. We had a really lovely weekend and were very sad to leave. Our two small dogs loved the walks right on the doorstep

Home from home in the countryside
This cottage is even prettier and larger than it looked online. The front and back gardens offered shade or sun depending on time of day. The view from the rear decking was gorgeous- we watched lots of hares chasing each other at high speed. The ground floor bedroom and en suite was totally suitable for our 94 year old Gran. There are no steps or stairs except one small one from the parking area which is just in front of the house and two average steps onto the decking. Everything was comfy and clean. It was so quiet and peaceful and well suited for trips to the beaches and neighbouring towns. Would definitely recommend!
