Fog Signal Building: sleeps 2, open plan living space, with independent kitchen and bathroom. Outdoor terrace seating with sea views



All on one floor

Open living room, with an array of seating. Computer monitor for online TV connectivity. Dining table and chairs for 4.

Sleeping area (sleeps 2) curtained space, king size bed.

Kitchen, independent, complete with essentials. Electric oven and hob. Fridge with freezer box, dishwasher.

Bathroom, luxury teak wood baths, one a plunge style bath (ideally for those who can brave a cold bath) and a full length bath, with overhead shower.



Outside

Triple aspect decked terraces directly onto the shingle. Chairs from inside can be placed on the terrace (fair weather only).

Parking for one car.

Towels and linen are provided.
We can provide you with a variety of recommended eateries, please get in touch for further detail.
A fold-up cot and a highchair that clamps to the table can be provided - Please ensure this is requested with a member of the booking team prior to your stay.
Reasonable mobile reception, depending on provider and Wi-Fi available.
Up to two pets are allowed, provided they are included in the original booking.
Electric underfloor heating throughout, with thermostatic controls on each floor.
No BBQ provided.
Please note there is no TV but an iMac is provided.
If you wish to bring a pet please let us know. Please note additional pet charges are £35 per pet per week (or part of) will be charged.

For larger groups this property is a short walk away from Coastguard Lookout which sleeps 5.

would stay again

Our third stay in Dungeness - twice in Radar, this year the Fog Signal Building. Perfect location and a lovely peaceful stay. Strange bathroom set up, but the shower was easy to get in and out of. Other reviews were helpful to know what to bring (eye mask for sleeping / oven gloves), and where to find the kitchen light switch (under the shelving to your right of the doorway). Would stay there again, although also tempted by the Coastguard Lookout for next year...

Unique property with amazing location

It was a privilege to be able to stay in such a stylish and unique converted building in an imposing location at Dungeness. Other reviews mention snags in the property. It’s getting a little tired and there are things mentioned in older reviews that still aren’t fixed but that did not negatively impact our stay. Overall it was incredible to spend a week at Fog Signal building and experience Dungeness. Carefully curated furnishings and accessories. Huge windows and doors to watch the skies. We sat at the open doors until it was pitch black, the stars were amazing. Our top tip would be to use a little warm water and a squeegee (we had one in the car) to clean the salt from the windows for a fabulous clear view. Wonderful unique property. Thankful for have had the chance to stay there.

Win, sea and enjoying the views

We think this place is so amazing that we’re happy to overlook the minor flaws. Yes, it could certainly be cleaner—cups and bowls with lingering traces of dirt, a fridge that could use a refresh, and windows that need cleaning (as the grime slightly obscures that fantastic view)—but those are trivial details compared to the overall experience. We’ve visited twice now and hope to come back again and again. The sea right at your feet, the somewhat desolate landscape, eating at the Snack Shack, spotting foxes and rabbits—we love it all. Just be aware that you’ll be in the middle of nowhere; you’ll need the car for almost everything, and you won’t hear much besides the wind and the sea. If that’s exactly what you enjoy, then don’t hesitate—go!

A marvellous retreat for those special occasions

We loved the quirkiness, a light and space and the 360 degree views from the Fog Signal Building. The decor was ultra modern which we loved and the shower weird but wonderful! Loved being in Dungeness and the wild terrain and weather. We spotted four porpoises which added to the delight of our stay. Gorgeous place to stay in - would highly recommend it. A couple of suggestions to improve things slightly - better pillows and a bread bin !

Quirky few days

Booked for remote beach walks with dogs. Location perfect, right on sea front, great views of lighthouse, sea and sunset. Property we felt less let down by the bathroom which was so unappealing and uninviting. Garden unenclosed, several broken pieces of glass amongest the stones. Would be nice to have a welcome pack or even just a cake to arrive to, all other properties we have stayed in offer this. We had no starter fire wood as stated we would, when contacting told to call another … Feel this should have been provided and sorted by booking provider. Bedding required more of an intense wash, base bedding marked and stained. All in all, for purpose of booking location was excellent, began to get busy towards weekend lots of people peering in as such unusual place. Paying for location and views, yet pricey. Needs a few maintenance fixes, oven door handle broken, storage hinges on boxes broken, on of main doors faulty lock.garden fencing (not safe for dogs ) glass removal from stones, supply offered wood, cleaner bedding. Enjoyed the Bose system whilst watching the waves, location super.

Cosy!

A beautiful bijou house in a great location. We loved our stay here and would go again. Be aware there are lots of rabbits and foxes at dusk (so cute to watch!) but we needed to keep our dog on a lead around the house as she was waaaay too excited about that and ran off into the night to discover where they lived. Dogs with better recall can be free as the house is away from the road and other properties. For those of you who like a dark bedroom take an eye mask as there are no blinds on the windows and the bedroom privacy curtain only blocks out so much light. It’s a great location for walks and star gazing and being cosy. Also a very short walk to the pub. Feels private but not lonely. Communication with Bloom was efficient, friendly and accommodating .Thank you Esperanza! I will use this company again for sure.

A perfect Pre-Christmas break

We absolutely love Dungeness and this is our fourth stay on the estate this year. The Fog Signal Building is in a stunning position close to the sea with amazing views and a beautiful internal open plan layout. The whole building is so very carefully considered and has everything you need for a perfect stay. We will be back and our two top accommodation locations now are Fog Signal Building and Radar…. if you’ve not stayed in either of these you are in for a treat and won’t be disappointed, they are perfect!

Amazing stay

Unrivalled view of the seafront of Dungeness beach and weather. The Fog Signal building brilliantly designed so that you have a view out of all four sides with a modernist interior. We had a wonderful weekend and will be returning.

A relaxing time at Dungeness

Wow! What a great place to stay! Right on the beach, lovely and secluded which was what we were looking for. Sitting and watching the sun and moon rise with a clear view of the sea! Also a pair of foxes visited a few times. The accommodation was well thought out, comfortable and clean. Loved the binoculars! We didn’t want a tv so we were glad there was just the Mac which we checked a few local things on. We took our dog Daisy and she loved sitting and looking out. Would recommend the Pilot for food and or a drink. Really friendly! Not loads to do which was what we wanted. Lovely walks and views. I would take logs and kindling with you if you’re looking to use the log burner. You can buy local but you’ll need to drive. Will definitely be back!

A great long weekend

Fantastic location and a really interesting building to spend some time in. Comfortable and convenient. We loved coming back in the evenings, relaxing and watching the changing weather / landscape and engaging with the local foxes! Generally the building was well-equipped, but as we were staying a period of hot weather, would have been good to have had a sheet on the bed so we could dispense with the duvet. A tiny detail in what was a virtually perfect stay.

Lovely place to stay, perfect position looking out over the sea. House is quirky in a good way. Makes the remoteness of Dungeness feel wonderfulTwo comments. If you are immobile getting in and out of the shower would be very difficultOnly one loo roll was supplied. This might be considered enough but it causes anxiety akin to the anxiety driving an EV car and wondering when the next charging point is.

An amazing, quirky, and unique experience.

Experience the outdoors indoors. Watch the shingle, sky and sea changing colour hour by hour, day by day. See the lighthouse beams sweep across the sky, scattered by rain and fog. Hear the wind rumbling through the tower, and waves crashing on the shingle. Explore the marsh where the redcoats chased the smugglers. Visit the Cinque Port towns of Rye and Winchelsea. Enjoy the desolation and quirkiness of Dungeness.

Wild, remote and brilliant design

An incredible place, inside and out. We loved being surrounded by light on all sides, the furniture, overall design and location at the end of the track on the incredible Dungeness peninsula. Our dog Mungo loved living on a massive beach for the week too. If you’re looking for somewhere to totally reset brain and body, this is it. The big baths take a while to run but complete the neo-monastic, post-apocalyptic scene.

Perfect environment from which to immerse oneself in the peace and beauty of Dungeness.

The Fog Signal Building is an exceptional environment. Its location coupled with the amount of glass that forms its design makes for a seamless connection with the outside. Sea, boats, the incredible light of Dungeness, wild rabbits, birds and the occasional appearance of a fox are all very much to be enjoyed from the Fog Signal Building. Elegant and comfortably furnished, small but good selection of books, well equipped kitchen and bathroom. Perhaps a little tired here and there but overall an excellent holiday home.

Very enjoyable

Fog Signal Building in Dungeness is delightfully quirky. The conversion from its previous incarnation to a luxury holiday home has been very successful, making it a fab place to stay. The location is stunning - right on the beach in the alien landscape of Dungeness. Some strange design decisions include a weird bathroom layout, and a lack of any kind of blinds on most of the 10(!) large doors around the building. But this just adds to the quirkiness.

Stunning location

Absolutely brilliant peaceful location and a very creative conversion of the Fog House. The design inside is stunning with a wonderful open, bight and airy space giving lovely views through the many large windows and very stylish decoration and furniture. Our only criticism was the lack of comfortable seating for outside use. A picnic table and umbrella would be a great addition. A few small items are required, an oven glove, egg cups and a bathroom bin. The bathroom lighting could also be improved to make it perfect.

A little slice of heaven

An unexpected find which was actually a little slice of heaven. Beautifully appointed accommodation, amazing location and just what was needed. Well equipped kitchen, comfy sofa and great views. Perfect for a walk on the beach, a cup of tea (or something stronger) on the deck, a great location to stop, relax and unwind. Walkable to the seafood snack shack for a lobster lunch, or a slightly longer leisurely walk on the cobbled shore to the Pilots Hub for a drink or two. All information provided by Bloom was helpful and accurate. One tip, whilst the sunrises are gorgeous, if you don't want to see them every day I would take a sleep/eye mask.

A lovely break.

A lovely place to stay and unwind. The house is beautiful and you can’t go far wrong with the views. An unforgettable experience. My only comments would be the water pressure in the shower which was a little low, and the main light in the kitchen which tripped the power. I managed to reset on the fuse box but we had to move a light into the kitchen. Didn’t affect our stay but just wanted to let you know. Many thanks for the hospitality! Tom

Absolutely amazing building

We really loved our stay in the Fog Signal building. The building was so unique and the bonus is this building is at the very end isolated from the other buildings so it definitely felt like we were in some European movie. Everything was perfect, the iMac was a great touch. We did struggle to find the kitchen light or maybe it wasn’t working but it was impossible to turn on which meant we had to cook in the dark - but it wasn’t the end of the world!

Wilderness, calmness and luxury at its best!

Our week in the Fog Signal Building was truly exceptional. The location, the nature, the view and especially the cozy building are perfect to get away and enjoy time far away from any disturbances. It was only calmness and a feeling of simple luxury. As an architect myself, I appreciate the design, the quality of materials and the floor plan of the building very much. Although there was a small incident with the electricity, the owners were able to send someone over within hours to have it fixed. The house is very well equipped with anything one might need and it was extraordinarily clean. We will definitely visit the Fog Signal Building and beautiful Dungeness again!

Great stay at the coast of Dungeness

Great stay at the coast of Dungeness. We and our two Retriever dogs enjoyed our holiday at the coast of Dungeness. It is a beautiful house set in a outstanding position. Good to know that there are huge cabinets for your cloths and other belongings in the bathroom and that the fridge is really small what you can’t see on the photos. Around the bed area there is a curtain for your comfort. We had no problem with the 360 degree view and glass doors with no curtains (could be very hot in summer days because of no aircondition). Because of many foxes in the area (we love wildlife!) we cannot recommend to leave the doors open unattended especially when you have dogs. There is a fence around but it is damaged in some areas ( would be a brilliant idea to fix it and put a door in to get access to the beach) so you need to keep your dogs on a lead. Brilliant walks at the beach.

Great location but property needs some TLC

An interesting property in a unique location, warm and comfortable in spite of cold and stormy weather, and a good size for 2. There were a few issues that needed attention - leaking roof, lights not working, and several of the outside doors sticking. There was an excellent positive response to us pointing the issues out - but not all of them were fixable while we were there, so I'd suggest the property really needs a full check and refurb before letting. It is an expensive property, so it seems reasonable to expect it to be in excellent condition. The 2 baths seemed a rather strange arrangement, hard to access (I imagine very difficult for anyone with mobility issues) and take an hour to fill.
