Beautiful, peaceful location. Really spacious sitting room, full sized, well equipped kitchen, beautiful bedrooms with excellent quality mattresses and pillows. Bedding and towels also excellent quality. Allocated parking right beside the front door.Bassenthwaite Lake is under a minutes walk away. The site is peaceful, the grounds are very well kept, extremely dog friendly. The lodge is a great base for exploring the Lake District. Would highly recommend.
We had a fantastic stay in Jan and Sam’s lodge in Bassenthwaite. The lodge was beautifully clean with plenty of room for our family (3 adults and 2 children). The lodge had everything we needed and the beds were so comfortable! The view from the lodge was amazing. The site was incredible too - very quiet, right on the edge of the lake and nicely laid out. Fantastic location, easy access to Keswick and a short drive to Windermere, Coniston, Hawkshead etc. One of the best holidays we have had. The hosts were amazing with prompt, friendly communication and very helpful booking in information. Thank you so much Jan and Sam.
Lovely stay, comfortable property - beautiful location. Small site so nice and quiet but no shop so remember provisions. Dodd woods/ summit was great and nearby. Hired a paddle board from a new set up (sup to you) who delivers. That worked really well for us and the weather/wind was relatively kind. The bay was shallow so good for us. Nichol End is also great in Portinscale. Didn’t realise Keswick Mountain festival was on so busy, parking etc - but festival free until 5pm to have a look. Would book again.
The lodge was lovely and the view from the decking was beautiful! The site is small and quiet but in a good location for travelling to many of the beautiful places the Lake District offers. Check in was easy and all instructions were sent to us the day before. Unfortunately it seems not everyone reads them, as although the hosts requested this in their instructions, the thermostat was still at 20 and hadn’t been turned down, meaning it was extremely warm when we first went inside (fortunately this was just before the heatwave started!) Also, due to the heatwave we admit more fans would have been very welcome (there’s just one in the lounge) as trying to stay even slightly cool was really difficult, and we had a dog with us too. Overall though, we had a really good week and would recommend the lodge for people wanting to stay somewhere quiet with beautiful views and a few minutes walk down to to the lake.
Wonderful place to stay. Place was comfortable and well stocked with what you need. Ideal both as a base for exploring the Lake District or as a place to relax and hang out for a few days. Very peaceful setting. Best place we stayed at on our travels in England.
Me and my family had a lovely stay at this lodge, it was very cosy with beautiful views in a lovely quiet spot. Id recommend to anyone who loves the lakes. Keswick is nearby with beautif derwent water and Dodd wood has a walk where you can reach the summit and get a great panoramic view of surrounding lakes. A lovely place.
Lovely clean well equipped property, great location, homely touches such as books and games provided. Brilliant shower and the beds are really comfortable. Great communication from Jan and Sam. We will definitely stay there again.
We enjoyed 4 nights at the lodge and absorbed the beautiful scenery.Beds were very comfy and the furnishings were generally good. The kitchen pans require replacing and they are scratched so badly. The front door handle is very loose and needs attention!Cleanliness was ok, a lot of cob webs but you somewhat expect. We’d definitely return though

Really loved the cabin and the scenery. Close to Keswick, which has lots of local shops and dining options.
Property was clean and tidy, in a lovely situation, neighbours were nice, secure decking which the dog enjoyed lazing on watching people passing by. Lovely views of the hills.
Great lodge. Fabulously comfortable beds and pillows.Warm and cosy. Couldn’t use the outside seating/patio due to weather but great views. Dogs and people very happy!

A fabulous property on a lovely site, everything we wanted.
The lodge was absolutely perfect for our long weekend. It was super spacious, 2 bathrooms was great and the fact that we had the lake not even a 1 min walk away was lovely. Would definitely stay here again and perfect distance to some amazing nearby hikes (our favourite of the weekend was Haystacks)!
