Super stay at Sandpipers

We had a lovely stay at Sandpipers, the location is beautiful and the views were stunning. The house was great for our family of five plus our dog and we loved lazy days by the cove as well as venturing out to visit the island and eat out. Super property and highly recommend.

We really loved staying here. The weather was fantastic and we enjoyed swimming in the cove which was really safe for the children in the calm weather when the tide was out.The house is lovely and the welcome was excellent. Be warned...the hill associated with Steephill Cove is obviously steep. The path up to the car park spot is an effort. But totally worth it in our opinion.

Wonderful location

Wonderful peaceful location with fantastic sea view. Lovely scenic walk into Ventnor (15 min approx). Nearby donkey sanctuary well worth a visit, as well as the National Trust walk above Ventnor - the views were amazing 360 degrees. Looking forward to a return visit.

We had a magical time at Sandpipers, savouring meals overlooking the sea when we weren't in itrock pooling! The house is generously equipped and very comfortable, a pleasure to have arrived to and spend a week there. We very much hope to visit again in future.

Place was amazing

Place was amazing. Fantastic location, really couldn't be better. Spotlessly clean. Best equipped holiday let kitchen I have used. Henry met us with a key and even helped with bags. The Island Holiday Company even helped us book ferries. Really would like to give 6 stars....!

Beautiful location with outstanding views

Beautiful location with outstanding views. The property had everything we needed and more - from the well stocked kitchen, to the comfortable seating throughout the property, the new mattresses on the beds, a fun downstairs games room and useful utility room. Henry was a fantastic host who met us on arrival, left a very generous welcome pack in the fridge, and then checked in on us when we left. Many thanks for a lovely family holiday.

A special place

We only had a short stay but loved every minute of it. Everyone I dealt with - Shannon from The Island Holiday Company and Henry the caretaker - were so helpful and professional and super nice. The house and it's location are very special. The sea views from almost every room were lovely, the games room was a fun bonus and the generous goodies waiting for us when we arrived was the cherry on top. Lots to do in the area too. The botanical garden just a stones throw was well worth a visit. Wish we could have stayed longer. We honestly cannot fault it and will definitely be returning.

Lovely but very expensive

Lovely location set in a small cove. Access to the property will be challenging for those who aren't fit as you have to navigate a very steep climb down (and then back up) with luggage. The property is nicely furnished and clean. Henry who looks after the property is great and really helpful. The bread, drinks, cake etc on arrival was a really nice touch. Whilst we enjoyed our stay, we felt that the experience didn't live up to the 5* star price that we were charged. The beds are really not comfortable - this feels like a critical aspect to get right in luxury accommodation. The bathrooms are ok, but not really up to date. We would definitely stay at Sandpipers again, but only if it was at a much more reasonable price. For the price we paid, we could have stayed in a luxury 5* hotel with breakfast and drinks. It is not good value for money. Hope that's helpful.

Very peaceful & private

Fantastic location - very private with barely any walkers due to the location (cannot access by car). We loved this but be prepared to carry luggage/food shopping up and down the footpath! Great living space and comfortable for everyone. Kitchen hob and oven is wonderful to use (no corkscrew we found out, luckily we had one!). Very generous welcome package of prosecco, butter, bread and OJ! Henry the caretaker was fantastic, and on hand via whatsapp for anything that was needed. Wifi was very good if you are working there.

Exceptional in every way

This property is fabulous and simply stunning. We were the first guests to stay in the property after it came onto the rental market and we have only good things to report. The house is in a wonderful location; a private cove reached by a steep path - the clue being in the name - Steephill Cove. However my 88 year old mother-in-law manged it with no problem. Everything has been thought of and the property is extremely well equipped with everything you could need. A lot of thought has clearly gone into making this house comfortable for visitors with good quality fittings and we immediately felt at home. Caretaker Henry greeted us and helped with our luggage. A selection of very nice and imaginative foodstuffs had been left which was much appreciated. The view is of the small cove and out to sea. The property is literally on the beach and listening to the waves as you drop to sleep and wake in the morning was wonderful. The beds are very comfortable. There is plenty of drawer and hanging space with a good supply of hangers. You will find everything you want and more in the kitchen. The bathroom is modern and has plenty of storage space in cupboards. I would say however that although this is advertised a two bathroom property it actually only has one proper bathroom and the other shower is on the lower floor at beach level and has no toilet or basin with it. It is a wonderful facility for coming off the beach after a swim etc. and there is a second toilet on the living room floor level which is not mentioned. However, although it was not exactly what we were expecting in this one respect (and we have suggested that a floor plan would be useful) we would return to this property in a heart beat. We had a wonderful stay and were very sad to leave and certainly hope to return.
