The Space:
Nestled within the historic embrace of New Orleans' Central Business District, The Picayune stands as a living testament to the city's rich history, with roots that delve deep into the realm of journalism. Originally home to the historic newspaper, The Times-Picayune, this renovated building boasts a connection to the bustling atmosphere of Newspaper Row, a designation used to describe this block of Camp Street.
Newspaper Row, was a vibrant stretch of Camp Street, and was once the epicenter of the city's journalistic endeavors. The Daily Picayune was a prominent player in this dynamic landscape, and its former headquarters in this building have been carefully transformed into the modern incarnation that is The Picayune today.
Stepping into The Picayune is like stepping into a living history book. The building pays homage to its journalistic legacy, with several framed restored prints of original newspapers, dating back to 1890, throughout the building and condo for your enjoyment. It serves as a bridge between the past and the present, where the echoes of historic headlines and the hum of a bustling newsroom can almost be heard through the decades.
Embrace the theme of the "Entertainment" section of the newspaper as you step into this 2-bed, 2-bath condo at The Picayune. The thoughtfully designed space features a queen bedroom with a private bathroom, complete with a step-in shower for a luxurious experience. Revel in the spaciousness and privacy offered by this master retreat. The guest bedroom, hosting a king bed, is equally inviting, with a hallway bathroom that has a tub/shower combination.
The condo's meticulous design extends beyond the bedrooms. The open living space and high ceilings contribute to the overall sense of airiness, while original brick accents provide a nod to the building's historical charm. Step onto the balcony to enjoy a refreshing drink at the table or bask in the warmth of the sun. Modern amenities, including stainless appliances and Roku-equipped TVs, seamlessly blend with the historic touches, creating a distinctive and comfortable atmosphere.
Stay connected with high-speed WiFi and enjoy complimentary water and Gatorade to keep you refreshed during your stay. Dive into the city's rich coffee culture with French Market Coffee provided, allowing you to savor a quintessential New Orleans experience right in the comfort of your own space. Walking is the best way to get around in the downtown New Orleans area and when you get tired, rideshare (Uber/Lift/KrewCar) and taxis are generally readily available. The St. Charles Ave. streetcars are Green and head away from downtown on St. Charles Ave, into the Garden District, where you will see the beautifully maintained mansions, passing Loyola and Tulane Universities, Audubon Park, and the Audubon Zoo. Red Streetcars travel along Canal Blvd. from the Mississippi River out to City Park. The streetcars are cash only, unless you buy a pass.
