What an experience! Fantastic property for a large group. We were a party of 11 and a puppy and there was more than enough room for us all. Very grand residence but also super comfortable. The grounds were ideal - the tennis court a real bonus! Welcome pack was a nice touch and David, the caretaker very welcoming.

Fabulous, comfortable country pile

This is an elegant and comfortable country house in a tiny village just outside York. It has two large, elegant sitting rooms and a panelled dining room, perfect for formal dinners. We loved the house, its rambling corridors, comfortable bedrooms and elegant and fascinating objects and furniture. Perfect for a country house weekend.

Family reunion near York

The property was stunning - spacious and very well equipped. We made excellent use of the tennis court, jigsaws, scrabble and playing cards. The bedrooms and beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was very well stocked/equipped. The dining room was able to accommodate our large group for a couple of dinners brought in from local restaurants!!! Our stay at Helmsley Hall was thoroughly lovely, and our hosts/property managers were available if needed, and gave us all the information we needed to help our stay be just what we expected. Thank you!!!!

Members of my family (15 of us plus Cooper the dog) have just had the most fabulous time at Upper Helmsley Hall celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. We have all thoroughly enjoyed the lovely house and its unique features throughout but particularly in the downstairs rooms. We have had lots of fun playing games inside as well as outside in the spacious and lovely garden including tennis in the very nice court available. The kitchen is a lovely size for us all to gather and enjoy breakfasts and lunches together but it was also marvellous to be more formal and take dinner all together in the large dining room. The drawing room and lounge are so interesting and great places to relax for the evening and you can always find a quiet space on your own if you just want to read or be on your own. The communication has been excellent and the hosts representatives have been very friendly and nearby to assist should we have any questions. It was the perfect setting for our Victorian Murder Mystery Night! We would be delighted to return and would highly recommend.
