The gem of the Ochoco's

We had an unforgettable stay at this beautiful home right in the Ochoco National Forest. The property is absolutely stunning, peaceful, scenic and full of natural beauty. The house was cozy, clean and incredibly comfortable. It had everything we needed and more. The hosts were and amazing couple kind, welcoming and genuinely good people. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. We will definitely be back and we highly recommend staying here if you are ever in the area

Fun in the Ochocos

We had a wonderful, long weekend staying here to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary! The barndominium was cozy and had everything we needed! There was no tv, wifi, or cell service which allowed you to truly disconnect from the city and relax! Ron and Sally were friendly and attentive as well!! We hope to stay again soon!

Star gazing trip

We had a great visit to the property to view the Perseid meteor shower. We enjoyed the barndominium and walking in the forest behind the property. The location was a great jumping off point for further adventures, like the Two Pillars trail and Mitchell.

Home on the Range

My husband and I loved staying here. Beautiful and quiet location. The apartment itself is bright yet cozy and has an outstanding kitchen for cooking. All the rooms stayed nicely cool in the mid-summer heat and when needed for the cold nights, the apartment heated up in a snap. We really enjoyed meeting Ron and his son. And were very pleased with all the local recommendations on where to go for fun and where to eat.

Comfortable and Relaxing

We spent 5 nights using this barndaminium as home base exploring the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. Everything in the apartment was very nice. Comfortable bed, well appointed kitchen and bathroom. We cooked a couple dinners using the available charcoal grill. We enjoyed the coolevenings listening to the wind in the pines, petting the horses and watching the birds.

Beautiful peaceful location!!!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the property! It's extremely clean and the pictures don't really do it justice. We saw gorgeous stars at night and walked the forest service trails that the property accesses daily. Ron was super easy to work with and the unit has everything you need. It was nice to be off the grid and have some peace! We were worried it might get hot as there is no a/c, but it was very cool even at the hottest points of the day. We had a great time and would rent it again in the future!!!

Great barnominium

Way better than a hotel as it had a full kitchen and every type of utinsell that no hotel could hope to match, from the standard coffee maker and pots/pans to blenders and other small appliances to all the little extra condiments to even walking sticks. And very clean. Check out the bathroom floor with it's thousands of pennies all laminated together. A big 👍

Fantastic location for Central Oregon outdoor fun!

My husband and I loved this place. There is no wifi and no cell phone service, which gave us the impetus we needed to shut out the world for a few days. When we weren't out hiking at Smith Rock or The Painted Hills at John Day, we read books and played endless games of Trivial Pursuit that we found in the closet. We have also never stayed in a VRBO that was so well stocked! We brought a few kitchen items just in case but didn't need them. Talked to the owner Ron a couple of times and he directed us to a very nice walking path in the Ochoco Nat'l Forest behind the property. If you're looking to unplug in a beautiful high desert setting, this is the place for you.

Disappointed

Owners son lives in a RV next to the apartment. Property is advertised as come and experience the peace and quiet of the Ochoco mountains. The homeowners son blasted his stereo in the evenings, even with the doors and windows closed we could not get away from the noise. The water recycling system next to the bedroom wall is very noisy.

Peaceful stay!

The property is as beautiful as the owner's photos portray it to be. The apartment is perfect for two, the kitchen is supplied with all the cooking pans and utensils and the bed is comfortable. The best part is the location, it's very quiet and very private. It sits in the middle of the Ochoco forest with hiking trails nearby. It's close enough to Prineville for a meal out.Communication with the host was timely. Directions to the property were easy to follow.

Awesome-Again!

Visted here 2 years ago with grandkids and they have been begging to return. What a wonderful place--no TV, internet or phone---just a heavenly place away from it all. Ron is a wonderful host who will care for your needs and offer suggestions on the nearby places to visit. Great jumping off place for Painted Hills and the Fossil Beds. Will return again and make even more memories.

The property was peaceful and beautiful. It included everything we needed for our stay - kitchen utensils, a barbecue, comfy beds. It was close to the campground where other family members stayed and the location made it easy to get to the activities we wanted to do, painted hilas, rock hunting, looking for wildflowers and wildlife. We will definitely stay here again.
