Beautiful property that has amazing views. I loved walking to the nearby Stein Inn for delicious fish and chips followed by sticky toffee pudding. Everything from check in to check out was smooth and I would definitely recommend staying here!
Everything went perfectly and so smoothly. The property was everything we wanted and more. Waking up to such a beautiful view every morning was amazing. The house was gorgeous and still felt homey. Highly recommended!
The house is beautiful and the view is wonderful. Easy to get to places on Skye that we wanted to visit. We had a couple of questions about the house when we first got there and Iain was very quick to get back to us. Would definitely recommend Tern House to other travelers.
Gorgeous property, perfect for a Skye getaway. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. The owners were so helpful and communicative. The location is ideal.

Exceptional property with stunning views and in a beautiful location. The hosts provided informative guidance which waa really helpful.
This property was exceptional, from the moment we booked until after we checked out. We were a family of 6 - two grandparents, son and daughter in law, and two grandkids. Beautiful location, house was very comfortable and had more than we could have asked for in amenities! Communication with hosts was exceptional and good information provided in the house as well. Would highly recommend!!
My family of 4 had a wonderful stay at Tern house. The location is peaceful with great view but only a short walk from the local Inn. The house itself is well presented with high quality furnishings and high spec appliances. The information provided by the owners Caroline and Iain was comprehensive and timely. Would not hesitate to visit again.
Tern House is an incredible property! Weather prevented us from spending as much time outdoors on Skye as we planned, but lighting a fire at the house, cooking a meal in the kitchen and curling up on the couch made for a lovely, cozy afternoon. All the details of the house are gorgeous and Iain and Caroline provided some great recommendations for all aspects of our travel. The Stein Inn down the road gave us our favorite meal of our trip. We are recommending this place to all our friends for future trips to Skye!
This property was really special, and was definitely the best self-catering rental we have ever stayed in. The attention to detail and the understated elegant aesthetic of the house, the beautiful wild garden and the incomparable setting overlooking Loch Bay was exquisite and elevated our time in the Highlands. We loved and used the fireplace, soaked in one the tubs and appreciated having a washing machine. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. We hope to return our adult in the next couple of years.
This home was a wonderful spot for 5 adults and 1 infant to stay while exploring Skye. We really appreciated the 3 bathrooms and the central location to explore the area. The kitchen is fabulous, everything you could want to prepare food to eat in or to take on a picnic. We took the owners advice and stocked up on groceries when we passed through Portree. The Yurtea had amazing baked treats and a cozy atmosphere and just a few steps away. The chocolate orange brownie was amazing! The Skyeskin shop next door was wonderful for unique souvenirs as well. Thank you for a truly memorable vacation.
This property did not disappoint! It is even more beautiful than the pictures show. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the kitchen was incredibly well stocked. The hosts were very communicative and very helpful. They helped us plan our days on the island. They also had instructions on how to use different pieces of equipment around the house. The views from the windows are lovely but are equally rivaled by the walled garden from the dining table. We were so sad to checkout!
After a long day of driving past tons of sheep from Inverness, we arrived at the house on Skye. It was indeed remote, exactly as we expected. Thankfully, the wifi information was posted visibly in a window so we could check the app for entry instructions, because there was a triffling amount of cell signal out there.Once inside, the sunny kitchen was glorious. The entire house was comfortable, with great views of the water. One night we even could see the aurora in the night sky.The only downside was the tarvern/inn/pub at the water, the only place to eat, required reservations, and was booked up. But, the weather was nice enough to sit outside and they happily served us at the picnic tables.
What a delightful property! Top quality linens and cookware, easy instructions and helpful tips about everything by from sightseeing to groceries. Ideal location for several major sites. We will be back!
Hosts Caroline and Iain were wonderful. They provided very thorough, clear and prompt communications and their recommendations were spot on. We loved the remote location. The kitchen was well stocked. The beds were super comfy. The views and sunsets from the house were breathtaking.
