About this property
A former hotel set deep in the Dorset countryside in a small village
This beautiful Manor House is nestled in the Dorset countryside, in a unique village with a close-knit community, called Chettle.
Up until September '22 it was a hotel and restaurant. The house is comfortable and full of character with 8 en-suite bedrooms, a spacious lounge with woodburning fire, a library and games room with another woodburner, a snug television room plus large dining room and well appointed family kitchen. The house itself has large gardens, a walled pear walk and lots of private parking.
The village has a well-stocked village shop with everything you could possibly need (inc freshly baked pies, organic fruit and veg and all the other groceries you could imagine), a community playground and plenty of beautiful walks and cycle rides straight from the doorstep.
You are also between 30-45 minutes drive from the Jurassic Coast with it’s stunning beaches and breathtaking walks along the South-West Coastal Path.

This is a wonderful property full of atmosphere and just right for our family get together and murder mystery night, including hide and seek. There is plenty space for a large party and the house was full equipped with everything we could need and set in a stunning l location. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend! 😊👍
We stayed for a weekend family celebration and everyone agreed that it was a perfect place to accommodate such a diverse age range. The house is old and rather magnificent, if somewhat faded in its glory. It comfortably fitted 15 of us, including a 4 year old. There is plenty of space in the living and dining areas, plus an old bar with seating for quite a few. The general area is beautiful, with lovely walks and there is a wonderful view from the garden, where there is also seating and tables.
We had a marvellous time.
I booked this house for my hen do and it was beyond amazing! The house is huge with so much character and more than enough space for 18 adults. The kitchen had everything we needed and the dining room/bar space were used the most. The Dining Room also managed to fit all 18 of us doing a yoga and meditation workshop! Beds are all very comfy and worked well for the group we had. The village is lovely and can highly recommend the shop. We did pay for the hut tub but our fire skills were not at their best! Plenty of parking, lounges and snugs for people to relax and read and only a 30 minute drive to Bournemouth. Plus all the personalised touches from the owners were so sweet and really appreciated. Thank you!
