Ma'alaea Surf, Unit D10 is a townhouse unit on the second floor which offers our guest total privacy and is located directly on the beach. This town house unit has the bedroom and a bathroom in the upstairs loft; there is also a bathroom on the main floor. This unit is very well equipped. It features everything including central AC, Wi-Fi, TV, fully furnished kitchen, two outdoor pools, tennis and pickleball courts, convenient parking, BBQ areas and washer/dryers onsite.

Enjoy ocean front outdoor living on your spacious private patio (lanai) while watching Maui's breath-taking sunsets. The beautiful beaches fronting the property offers not only spectacular views but also outstanding swimming, snorkeling and kayaking and are perfect for leisurely walks or jogging. The maximum occupancy allowed in this unit is 4. All units at Maalaea Surf are non-smoking.

Our property is NOT impacted by the recent news regarding potential short-term rental (STR) restrictions in Maui. Because we are zoned as a hotel property, we are exempt from the County of Maui's proposed STR regulations.

Very nice property!

We had a group of 17 family members staying on this property in various condos. This condo was the best of those we rented. It was clean, accommodating and had the most amazing view. The grounds were immaculate and expansive. Both pools were clean and inviting. We would definitely stay here again.

Great base to explore Maui

Unit was very clean. We actually got moved to another unit due to some construction going on, but the one we stayed in was very nice with modern finishes and well decorated. Location can't be beat - all units in the complex have fantastic views of the ocean and front on a great sandy beach that stretches for miles and is not very crowded at all. Centrally located to all that Maui has to offer but is a pretty quiet area. There is a bit of traffic noise from the nearby highway but it wasn't bothersome to us. We would highly recommend it!!

The hide-a-bed would be much more comfortable if the plastic mattress protector could be removed when adults were sleeping on it as it was loud(crackling) and made you sweat. The location was perfect.

Unit is dark - lighting should be upgraded. Lanai screen needs replacing. Patio furniture is antiquated and difficult to handle. Fridge door was hard to open.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Ma'alaea Surf Resort is a sweet, low profile, beautifully manicured resort right on Sugar Beach. Since it is not a sprawling and over populated resort, it's quiet and low key. Units vary from completely updated to a blast from the past and a little worn. But the views from the units are some of the best and just steps to one of the best beaches on Maui. They have two pools, one small for the keiki and a second, very large pool that was rarely used. Two tennis courts and shuffleboard are also offered as well as two bbq areas. Plenty of parking. We also appreciated how easy it was to recycle our trash. We came home and made reservations for next year.

D-10 is a great unit and the view is definitely the highlight. Having that unobstructed view makes for the perfect morning / evening to just sit and watch the waves. This unit had everything we needed. We found chairs, umbrella, boogie board, day use cooler and ice packs in the freezer. These things are always appreciated, we added some sand toys to the collection for the next family. A few small flaws. The carpets both up stairs and downstairs both had large stains likely due to water? Looked like it could have come in from the main slider downstairs. Also we were informed by a sign to be careful because ants were common. We definitely did have some ant issues in the unit despite being very cautious with food and cleanliness. We saw them most in the bathroom actually. These things did not take away from our love of this place at all however just some notes to make it the perfect unit. We love the location of the unit. We can head to anywhere on the island without spending too long traveling. A fun highlight for us was walking down the beach a short way and getting breakfast at the sugar beach bakery and walking back. There is also shave ice, a fruit stand and a little store.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Just completed a week long stay in Unit D10 of the Ma'alaea Surf Resort. Before I review the unit, I want to review the property. This property sits on the beach (Sugar/Kihei) and is right on the water. The facility is over 50 years old, but the staff and grounds crew keep it looking tropical and manicured. From the extensive gardens to the tennis/pickle ball courts to the swimming pools every day staff is making sure everything looks great. The grass is truly a lawn. Unit D10 was perfect for my wife and I. Second floor unit that had a balcony that looked right onto the beach and bay. Great deck furniture that made reading or just viewing and visiting out there comfortable and the sound of crashing waves was in perfect harmony with the views. Unit was well maintained. The kitchen had all of the needed appliances and dishware/utensils. Nice family room and dining area that also offered views of the water. There is a full bath on main level which was handy. Second floor/loft was the bedroom with full bath. the bed was excellent and the AC was always cold which made sleeping easy and again sound of waves was always present. No washer/dryer in the unit, however on the lower level there was coin operated machines that we're also excellent. Location is Sugar Beach area and a very short walk to a great bake shop for morning coffee and pastries, and a convenience store that has just about everything. Once the afternoon heats up the Shave Iced store opens and other than the long lines to get this treat you will find it is worth the wait once you make your purchase. If we travel back to Maui (likely) I am sure we will first look to stay at this resort and hopefully secure this condo when the time comes.

If you're looking for a the most relaxing place to stay, this is it. And, this condo is right on the ocean and the complex has pickleball courts...this couldn't be better!
