Magical place!

We loved our time at this cabin. I have stayed at several places in a lot of states, and this one by far the best cabin I have ever stayed at.

The cabin was very nice. Clean. Kitchen was nice, and supplied with everything we needed and a lot more. Air conditioner worked really well, and we appreciated having a ceiling fan in the bedroom. The king bed was very comfortable. The master bathroom could use some updating, like maybe a walk-in shower instead of the awkward bathtub. The ceiling in the bath also needs refreshing. Both bathroom shower curtain liners need to be replaced or cleaned really well with some bleach. Otherwise, the cabin was quite clean.I was disappointed that I translated the description of the property to have a trout stream ON the property - although Bear Creek is quite close. Place is very well-kept and private. Very quiet and relaxing. We were disappointed that we didn’t feel comfortable walking the trails through the woods, because of the abundance of annoying fall insects. Just one of those things…We did see a couple of does walking across the area behind the cabin one evening. So beautiful! We would like to return sometime!

Trout fishing

My friend and I, along with our preteen sons, stayed the weekend and did some fishing. Cabin was in great shape and close to a nice leg of the south bear creek. I would definitely stay again.

Beautiful home and property

This house provided a very comfortable home base for taking in the nearby area attractions with our kids and our three 9-13 year old grandkids. We enjoyed the deck on 3 sides of the house for lounging and viewing the beautiful surrounding area and the wildlife passing by. Also enjoyed going to Niagara Cave and canoeing the Upper Iowa River.

Peaceful

The only real problem is the amount of hornets. Must be nests around. I did have a large spider in my bed (master) Sunday night.

Perfect Getaway!

We love coming to the Highlandville area and this was by far one of the prettiest rentals. Upon arrival, the property was just charming, with cool breezes all weekend long. The cabin was very clean and was well stocked with cooking, cleaning supplies, towels, and linens. We found everything we needed and what we didn't have, a quick run to the general store provided it. The beds were so comfy, we all slept well after a long day of exploring Decorah, and fishing! Peaceful getaway to unwind and disconnect, but WiFi was available for the kids to stream movies and use their devices.Great area for trout and we were treated to a wonderful fireworks show due to the Trout Run and local activities. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Thank you Brenda and Mike for sharing your slice of heaven! We agreed that it truly was phenomenal and look forward to coming back next year!

Well stocked and clean

We stay at many different VRBO's and this one had an especially well stocked kitchen, it's clean and had wonderful amenities for our family. The boys had room to play ball in the yard and our daughter enjoyed hikes on the well groomed trails and she enjoyed taking photos of the beautiful sky during sundown. We tried our hand at trout fishing and the locals told us to go during specific times if day when the fish are most activley biting. We saw lots of trout and people catching them but need to brush up on our fishing skills! The owners are wonderful and communication top-notch which is always appreciated. We had a few family members visit us that were staying in the town Decorah. On their first visit they took a wrong turn and somehow got the car stuck down the road. Mike, Brenda and the neighbor didn't even hesitate to lend a helping hand and got them out in a short time. Wonderful people and wonderful property. Thank you so very much Mike and Brenda!!

The overall property was very accommodating and in a very beautiful area. I would recommend this cabin. My siblings and dad stayed here to go to Decorah's Nordic Fest and it was great to come back to the very beautiful setting in the Highlander area. Cabin was clean and kitchen fully stocked. Easy check-in and check-out along with a camper hook up. Visiting the General store down the road is a must and there is a small walking trail along the river just down the road.
