We had a lovely stay in the Old Kitchen. The house was very cozy and had everything we needed. The house was set in beautiful surroundings and we enjoyed a great view while reading outside, during which we were accompanied by the very sweet Alfie, the owners’ dog. Edward and Amanda were most kind and accomodating hosts and they made our stay very comfortable. If we’d had more time, we would have loved to have stayed longer.
Great small rustic property in a fantastic location. Hosts Amanda and Woody are next door and are very welcoming as were there two very well behaved dogs, who greeted us every time we returned with wagging tails. Amanda and Woody offered advice on days out and places to eat locally. The Swallows and Housemartins were a treat, watching them roost outside the door. The property is compact, but very cosy, with everything you need for a stay. There are supermarkets in the local town which is very convenient. The town is well served with public transport if you don't want to drive, though I'd recommend driving into Pontardawe to catch the bus as it not the easiest walk.Would definitely recommend the Old Kitchen to couples wanting a peaceful and private break in the Welsh countryside. Or for anyone needing to do visit their children in the local universities as it's only a short drive. The log burner was lovely in the evening especially after a wet walk. The duck Pond and stream on the farm just added to the charm. My husband was on a course at the nearby office road shills training facility,, which is just 20 minutes away.
Cute, functional and cosy cottage in a charming traditional valley cottage set within a lovely old estate, complete with alluvial spring, grazing sheep and immediate access to the path up to Garth mountain. Lovely hosts, would recommend!
From the moment the lovely host showed me The Old Kitchen I was enchanted. It is cosy, colourful and captures the history of the old building. With hill views, lovely gardens, this is a little haven of peace and beauty. Everything is well though out, there are welcoming touches and I had everything provided to ensure I had a happy holiday. The bed is very comfortable and the kitchen had all I needed to cook every day. I hope to return again when I need my batteries re-charged. It is a unique and very special little cottage.
Lovely small cottage. Very peaceful. Hosts were lovely, and their dogs. Great for walks with our dog, and local friendly pubs nearby. Pontardawe chip shop was excellent. Will definitely return.
We absolutely loved this traditional Welsh farm setting. Sheep, chickens, ducks and the most friendly farm dog made this stay most enjoyable. Amanda and Edward were so very friendly and helpful in many ways, much appreciated. Appreciated the use of their washer and clothesline. Cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. It was perfect. As it was so very warm while there, a fan may have been helpful, but luckily it cooled down in the evenings.
