This is a conveniently-located flat, directly next to the Vauxhall tube station with a great balcony overlooking the Thames. There was an issue with the readiness of the flat upon our arrival, but this was due to a new cleaning service and was quickly addressed by the host who was very easy to reach. We were there during the July heatwave which could have been an issue. However, there were balconies on both sides of the floor-through flat and opening the doors on both allowed a great breeze off of the Thames to flow through the rooms. We truly enjoyed sitting on the balcony overlooking the river in the evenings with glasses of wine, and would definitely stay here again.

Pros: location was fantastic with easy access to transportation and view of Thames. Cons: Communication with the host was very difficult and became contentious, which I have never experienced during my numerous VRBO stays. We were unhappy that the lift was not functioning properly and that the apartment wasn’t well maintained. For example, one of the shower floors had brown stains and when we unfolded the sofa bed, there were crumbs in the cracks. While the apartment wasn’t dirty in a way that made it impossible to stay there, it wasn’t cleaned in a way one would expect, especially when the host is asking you to clean the toilets, shower and sink. The guest comfort did not seem to be a high priority. The towels were quite rough and we were told we’d get one set per person, which in itself would be fine but there were no small wash rags or bath mat, which was an issue because the main shower didn’t drain well and overflowed. The wash rag in the kitchen had stains and another in the drawer was ripped. We also had to supply our own toilet paper after we used the partial first roll. The unit also needs some refurbishing - the door handle to the patio was broken and couldn’t be locked, a front drawer panel came off when we opened it and another partially came off. We had initially asked VRBO to relocate us due to the elevator issue. The host refused and VRBO said that they couldn’t do anything about it since the listing never said the building had a lift.
