The village enjoys stunning views over the moors to the Ribble estuary, Flyde Coast to the west and Pendle Hill to the east. Belthorn was originally a small, traditional coal mining and hand weaving community, but today it is mainly residential, offering an Italian restaurant and a popular pub, The Dog Inn, which also houses a small shop selling fresh bread, milk and vegetables. The surrounding area provides a wealth of walking and cycling routes, and there is a quiet children’s park in the village, perfect for letting the little ones run around. The nearby village of Guide offers greater amenities, including a traditional pub, a post office, a popular Cantonese restaurant and a working men’s club, while further afield rests the industrial town of Blackburn, bursting with history and culture.
